hi
i have rhumatoid arthritis and i have been diagnosed for 5 years i have been on 4 different dmards and tried enbrel and fluximab? (not sure of spelling) anyway at my last visit to the hospital he said that i had a anti nuclear antibody which is the antibody for lupus.
so he as now put me back on plaquenil 400mg and kept me on my dose of methotrexate weekly.
Does this mean i have got it or could get it?

shazza :?

    Hi Shazza

Certainly sounds like you've had you share of different cocktails. Lets hope something gets things under control soon.

Unfortunately there is no way for us to answer your question so it's probably best you speak to the rheumatologist about it as I suspect it is not as simple an answer as the question.

I hope you get some relief soon. Best wishes

    Dear Shazza,

Thank you for your enquiry to us here at Helplines. Lupus is a specialised condition so if it were confirmed we'd suggest you might want to talk to the helpline at Lupus UK. Their number is 01708 731251. They hold details of rheumatology clinics which have particular expertise and interest in lupus treatment.

Your rheumatologist/your clinic would be the people to confirm whether you have lupus and say if there are further confirmatory tests they might need to do I'd imagine.

    I hope that is helpful
