free school dinners

My 3 children qualify for free school dinners but only 1 takes up the offer as other 2 dont like the food.
Anyway son had his stopped a few weeks ago because tax credit peeps havent sent me confirmation even though I completed form in mid May (over the phone).
Tax credit peeps are behind with their paperwork and cant send out required proof of low income, surprise surprise ,and told me to contact council as they have a form to fill in and can give school confirmation my son qualifies-do not contact the school they say.
So I ring the Council and they deny all this- contact the school they say and they will have a form to sign. School deny this. Back to Council who again deny there is a form. Ring a different department at the council who give me some names to quote and school asks me to come in to sign a form and son gets his school dinners from Monday!!!
Anyone else had this problem? I dont qualify for income support which would make things simple as on carers. Carers beware.

    Lovely to catch you on the forum.
    No trouble as all sorted but they really should sort their system out. i was reading Rehabs bank thread and it got me thinking.....its not just banks who dont know what they are doing.
    If i hadnt phoned hed still be missing his school dinners.

    Still not sure what is happening with Lucy. I think it is working but in a different way than I thought!
    Hope you foals are thriving. What did you call him in the end (the last one born)?

    in our day stringy meat and soggy cabbage.....frog's spawn and semolina....

    I remember frogs spawn !
    Actually I did love that synthetic cream on top of the puds and used to save it to the end to savour and enjoy. One day as monitor I left the cream to sort someone out and the dinner lady removed my bowl. I was horrified and dumb struck but as a mere kid didnt dare to complain.

    One day i shall come back and haunt that dinner lady!

    Yeah they made you eat your veg even when it was soggy and cold. Torture.

    Never had mint custard or even on yorkshire pudding (see alans thread). But looked forward to milk shake and concrete shortbread days.

    When i went to sign the form it was very clandestine. No eye contact, hushed whispers and all that.....I obviously crossed a forbidden line somewhere.
