Hi everyone,

I am new to the site and hope to get some insight to RA.

I am 48, divorced and have 2 sons 24 and 18. Until early this year I was a pretty active (not exactly athletic) person and now I can hardly put my feet on the ground without being in agony. This along with fingers/wrist and elbow pain and swelling. I recently saw RA specialist and started on Naproxen and Sulfasalazine. It was also suggested to have cortisone injections in my feet, does anyone have comments on whether that would help?

I hope you keep well.

Hugs, Linda

Hi, I replied to you yesterday on the other bit of this forum: I thought the name looked familiar! Have you had a look at some of the other forums yet? I hope you are having a reasonable day today - the weather where I live is absolutely foul at the mo, grey, dark and raining and cold! It is suddenly very cold. August? No, November! DD

Not a great deal. The weather in East Anglia (well, my bit of it) is truly foul: it's rained for the past 22.5 hours, it's dark, had the lights on for most of the day, and I swear it makes coping with the arthritis harder work! I had my first breast screening yesterday and my legs are still hurting after that: I don't do standing still very well anymore! Mind you, I don't much of anything very well anymore. C'est la vie. I have to go and start cooking now - another uncomfortable thing. I have to sit for most of that, which makes life awkward! Take care. DD

I too have RA; my feet were particularly bad but I've never been offered cortisone injections. Hopefully someone who has, will spot your post soon!

    Hi DD

Considering all that you are going through, you have such a great cheery attitude. When will you get results of your breast test? Hope you have nice things planned for the weekend.

    Hi Whitey44

Thanks for the welcome, I hope you are keeping well today.
You mentioned your feel were bad, I am glad to hear that they have improved. I have heard that the injections dont always benefit everyone so I will wait and see how long it takes for the pain to ease with my new meds first. Do you have more good days than bad? Hope you are having a lovely weekend.

    Hugs, Linda :)

    Hello Iris

What a small world... I am in Killie and lucky for us again today its been bright and sunny. Whats it like over you way ?

I hope you have been taking things easy and had a good weekend. As prescribed by your experience I dont doubt, I did as little as I could to get by at the weekend and rested as much as poss. It is pretty scarey when you realise you cannot run around as you used to with suffering for it after. C'est la vie I am getting to understand.

Keep well and hugs, Linda :)

    Hello Toni

Thanks for the lovely welcome. I hope the holiday has helped you feel better and that you had a brill time. Somewhere hot I imagine ?

Interesting that they did not work to well for you, I have heard that it can be a hit or a miss for some people. I think I will persevere without them for a wee while, see if the drugs (prescribed lol) work first !!

I hope to catch you soon, hugs, linda :)

    Hello Carol

Forgive me if this is a duplicate. I typed a message already and when I went to send it, it does not appear that it went. So anyway I will start again.

Thanks for the welcome, glad you stopped to say hello.

How are you keeping at the start of this sunny week? I had a gentle weekend and feel the better for trying to keep the feet up. Did you doing anything exciting ?

Hope to catch you soon, Hugs, Linda :)

    Hi Linda,

Another Scots lass here - in Aberdeenshire. The rest of the UK is basking in sunshine but it's chilly here! :(

I've had RA since I was 7 and have had injections in my feet - helped me enormously, but steroids always have. I know those bobbly surfaces at traffic lights are a great help for blind/partially sighted people, but they are agony for arthritic feet!

Good luck with the sulpha. It's been great for me.....so far - only been on it since January.

Hi Linda - sorry come in late into your thread, but just wanted to say "hello" and welcome from me too. My RA started in my feet and the pain was excrutiating. But I was never offered cortisone injections so can't help with that I am afraid.

Look forward to seeing you posting around the forum.

I really hope that the Naproxen and Sulpha give you some relief sooner rather than later - and that, if you do go for the cortisone injections, that they help you.
