Who's there?

PA.

PA who?

P-ain.

And it is, in some style. At least my earlobes don't hurt, my eyelashes appear to be non-arthritis-affected, the same with the moustache and witch whiskers. The rest of me though. . . . . . . . . It's nice to know it's still about, albeit complicated by the OA and the ripped ligament. DD

WHAAAAT? Could you just run that by me again?

Now, DD, sit down & take a stiff drink. Dr SW's orders. Or maybe you already did? Think I need one too after that. Cheers.

Oh frog, il est parfait! And to everyone else, a heartfelt thank you.

I have had a quiet word with my good mates Paul and Art, and they have sanctioned this. I am warbling (badly) accompanied by willaimlargs on his twelve string (I hope to whoever, William, that you have a twelve string- I love the sound.) Oh, and a few slurps of the good stuff.

    The Sound of Crying.

    Hello PA, my old friend,
It's nice to have you back again,
It's been a while for us I know,
You know you never had to go
But now you're back with your aches and pains,
The moans and groans with the sad refrains,
And the twanging that rips my soul apart,
    And I lose heart
As I listen, to the sound,
    Of crying.

For what it's worth, I thought your joke was really good. I'm sorry you're going through a beating courtesy of arthur. I wish I had some words of wisdom to offer. All I can do is send love and cross my fingers on your behalf that arthur gives you a break sometime soon. Be kind to yourself, rest lots and keep on hanging in there. I know you will hang in there 'cause you're a tough cookie. ;) x

Bad News – don’t think williamlargs’ll be able to play it on his guitar as you managed to insert two extra lines. How about some other S&G favourites:

59th St Bridge Song (Feeling Achey)
April, Come She Will (Also May-March)
Bye Bye Stairs (Hello Pain & Wheelchairs)
    I Am A (C)rock
    Scarborough Flare
    The Joints They Are A-Changing

Good news – no need to adapt Bridge Over Arthritic Pain Waves. Just substitute ‘we’ for ‘I’ everywhere. Could be the forum theme tune. I shall play it for you now.

Hi DD.. I'm so sorry that the blasted PA has started again, it's not enough to be suffering the pains of your OA and the rest... Oh dear friend, I do hope that it soon passes, apparently all things do..
Wish there was something I could do to help, I'm sure that you know that mi dear.

I'm still awaiting the new pc, my cousin is kind but not very reliable, I'm hoping this time he sticks to his time table and brings the new one this week..

Very best wishes from me and a huge purr from The Great White Dope himself.. X

Ah, I thought I had - blasted brain mush thanks to trammies, cocos and tiredness. Grrrrrrrrrrr. Lines 3 and 4 innit? Dammit. I like the other titles tho, they are worth a thought or two. I can feel an idea stirring.

Dylan: The limbs they are a-changing.
Boomtown Rats: I don't like any day of the week.
Bill Haley: Pills Around the Clock.
Sarah Vaughan: April in Plaster of Paris.
Sandie Shaw: Muppet on an Arthritic String.

Come on tjt, this is meat and drink to you mate!

Grrrrrr. Ghastly, bloody stuff, it's enough to make a saint swear and I ain't no saint. I honestly don't know why I bother going to bed, it just means lying there looking at the ceiling, or the wall, or Mr DD (sleeping like it's the most natural thing in the world - which it should be grrrrrrrrrr). I get one leg comfy, the other protests, so I move about a bit and the protesting one settles so the other moans, the shoulders grumble (as do the wrists because of the moving, it involves sitting up) so I wriggle them about to get them comfy, three minutes of 'peace' then it all starts up again. I've been thinking about the amitryp but no, I don't want to go down that route yet, it's only because the PA is having a bite or two, that's all, and it will pass because stuff does. How the hell Mr DD sleeps through the disturbances I don't know. I guess he is tired in a different way to me.

I rang my helpline yesterday to let them know I am flaring (that is what they tell me to do and I is a good girl) and they rang back last night, after working hours (well, six minutes after) and told me to increase the pred. I told them to make up their minds, do they not mind me taking the stuff or do they want me off it? If they cannot be consistent why the hell should I? I knew there would be a fairly spirited challenge mounted against my resolve with the first flare at low dose pred and this is it and I have not wavered. And I won't. This is a gentle taster of how life might well be, and it won't put me off. I have been through worse, I can cope, and I know I am doing something positive for my long-term health. Ye gods, the irony in that last statement!

    Madonna: Arthritica
Groove Armada: Pred 63 and of course their classic In My Bones (True! Track 10 on Vertigo!)

    Morning DD

Sorry still so ruff but here's my attempt at some appropriate lyrics - thought they might make you giggle (don't say I don't put my sleepless nights to good use ) :

    **************************

To be sung to the tune of "Rehab" by Amy Winehouse

They say I gotta up the pred but I say "no, no, no"
Cos it's taken me 8 months to get so low, low, low

Yes I've got a flare, and, no it's not fair
They say I have no choice but they don't know, know, know

I'd rather ride out the pain
Than go through all that again

Cause there's nothing, nothing you can teach me
That I ain't learned about PA

I may not have a med degree
But I bin at this far too long you see

They say I gotta up the pred but I say "no, no, no"

    **************************

    Thinking of you.

    Morning dd

Sorry that you are still not feeling good, I too wish there was something I could do to help.
I know what you mean about the tossing and turning in bed and wondering how the oh's sleep though it. Must be built in to them.

I am enjoying reading the song titles....sorry I can't think of any but will try

Tilly....that was good, I will be singing that all day now

    love juliepf x
