I am a happy girl
My lovely OT has just left having previously arranged the installation of a brand new pillow raiser and new wooden bannister for my stairs.
No more sleeping in the armchair for me!
I have arthritic ribs and can't lie flat or on my side so to say I'm happy to be able to sleep in bed raised securely is an understatement!!!!
Love and a painfree day to all, I'm off to try my grab rail and bed out  Xxx

Poppy, forgive me. I kind of skim read it as OH not OT, thought What???? And got no further.

You hide your pain under several bushels. I’d no idea you’d been having to sleep in an armchair. I’m so pleased you can now get back to a proper bed. You may find other stuff improving as a result.

Banisters? Oh yes! With the right banisters I can still drag myself up a flight of stairs occasionally. With the wrong ones not a chance. Little things: big differences.

If anyone deserves a break you do. This is great news.

I sympathise Poppy. I often have to sleep sitting up but more to do with the breathing issues than the ribs although I did have painful ribs in the first year of my diagnosis. I really hope it helps.

    Hi all,
Well, it's taking some getting used to this lying in bed malarkey :???: I haven't had the best night, I was definitely comfortable...just couldn't drift off even with amitriptyline.
I'm sure given time I'll adjust, and yes Toni, I agree my Occupational Therapist is fantastic, she really was thorough in my assessment and needs and has done everything she can to support me, I'm so grateful, good old NHS
Love to all and a painfree day X

    Hi Joan, Toni and all,
I had a much better night, all day yesterday I was in pain with my shoulder (I'm due to have an arthroscopy October) so I took some oromorph and went to bed, I'm happy to report a lovely night sleep and used my pillow lift to get me out of bed independantly  woo hoo  I'm still sore with the knee and shoulder but Tuesday I'm having the knee aspirated after I see my Rheumy so things will get better.
Have a lovely day everyone as painfree as possible Xxx
