So many catch phrases from comedy shows,TV, radio, films, adverts etc. have become a part of our language.

Which ones are your favourites :?: Are there any you don't like :?:

I like:

''I have a cunning plan'' ( Baldrick )

''Listen very carefully, I will say this only once'' ( 'Allo 'Allo )

''I don't believe it!'' ( Victor Meldrew )

''Don't mention the war'' ( Basil Fawlty )

''Computer says no'' ( Little Britain )

''You stupid boy!'' ( Dad's Army )

''That's another fine mess you've got me in" ( Laurel and Hardy)

''I've started so I'll finish'' ( Mastermind.)

''Always look on the bright side of life'' ( Monty Python )

''Nobody expects the Spanish inquisition!'' ( Monty Python )

I don't like:

''Nice to see you, to see you......nice'' ( Bruce Forsyth )

''Life is like a box of chocolates'' ( Forrest Gump )

''Is that your final answer?'' (Who Wants to Be a Millionaire)

''Because I'm worth it'' - L'Oreal

'' It's good to talk'' - BT

'' Every little helps'' -Tesco

''Simples!''- that annoying little meerkat

I have to disagree with the Simples! I think it's lovely and I enjoy the ads.

    Favourites Hmmmmmm . . . . .

I'm Julian and this is my friend Sandy. Round the Horne

    Gavel-aaaar! Gavin and Stacey

I don't believe it! (as before)

    Don't panic! Don't panic! Dad's Army.

    You stupid boy. Ditto

He's not the Messiah, he's a very naught boy! Monty Python

Rat on a stick! Dead rat on a stick! Ditto

    Ones that annoy.

    THAT Mastermind one.

    THAT Millionaire one.

    All of Brucie's - I can't stand the man.

The Asda pocket patting and irritating jingle that accompanies it.

    Hi DD

Thank you for your selection. The trouble with most catch phrases is that they are funny to begin with, but eventually they get annoying when repeated too often. I think that ''Simples'' was a brilliant word to use on the ad. but since then it's been used so many times that it's become a bit of a cliché.

Politicians often fall into the trap of using catch phrases too often. Watch this video of President Obama which illustrates this perfectly.

A couple more comedy ones which I like are:

''Ooh you are awful, but I like you'' ( Dick Emery )

''All in the best possible taste'' ( Kenny Everett )

    Don't like:

''You are the weakest link.......Goodbye'' ( Anne Robinson )

I'm so sorry to not add anything much to this thread as yet but simply wanted to mention that I couldn't agree more!! He drives both myself and the good lady absolutely up the wall. We differ on my other pet peeve (person) though - Mr Richard *spit* Madeley. Does he have any catch phrases? I couldn't bear to watch to find out!!:lol:
