Mood swings

Eithne has had some massive mood swings over the past week it's unbelievable - it's honestly like she's possessed at times!

She had steroid injections on Monday in her foot, and since Friday has been saying that her leg hurts up where it joins the hip. We've looked and there's no swelling, but is it possible her mood swings are related to the injections and possibly some discomfort in her hip?

We're keeping an eye on things and it doesn't seem to be affecting her - no limping, still running around like a mad thing. If we do find it's starting to affect her I'll be straight onto the specialist nurse again.

Just wanted to see what other's thought.

    Large doses of steroids can cause extreme mood swings. It would be worht mentioning it to the the nurse or the consultant next time you see them and before she has any more injections.

    We see the consultant in November so I'll definitely mention it to her.

    i hope you do not mind me posting on here but as an adult with arther it does cause mood swings with out the steroid so it must affect littles ones as well i feel for them and hope it helps val

    I totally agree with val, i a, a mood mare and am known to have mood swings.
    It may not be the case here but often children say somwhere hurts that isnt actually the place that does. Have know them to say 'my tummy hurts' but they have a sore throat and nothing wrong with their tum.

    I could be way off but its worth a thought.

    She's still having mood swings and her behaviour is out of this world - we've never seen her behave the way she did over the weekend - rude to her grandparent's, shouting at them, all sorts. :sad:

    We know she's in pain as she's been telling us (doesn't stop her from running around like a crazy thing though) and I'm pretty sure it's affecting her sleep. If she's hurting and not sleeping, it's bound to affect her mood.

    Just hoping it settles soon so I can have my lovely little girl back again.
