Yesterday it was the inquest into a terrible fire which occurred in Derby earlier this year in which four beautiful children lost their lives. Apparently, there were smoke alarms fitted in the house, which could have saved them, but none of them were working. The mother of the children survived, and she is appealing to everyone to check their smoke alarms this Christmas.

It's the time of year when risks of fire are increased because of lights, Christmas trees, extra cooking etc, so please check that all your smoke alarms are working, and replace batteries if necessary.
