I'm supposed to be seeing one of my specialists tomorrow, at the hospital, and I was supposed to have my vitamin D levels checked before I went there, in time for him to see them at the appointment.

The GP's didn't remind me, but then, they never do and I have a brain like a sieve.

I did have a test done in February, which wasn't too long ago, and I had a course of supplements after that, but then I was supposed to have another test to see if they'd 'taken'. Perhaps I could argue that vitamin D deficiency causes memory impairment? :?

I'm also supposed to have the results of my hip x-ray, but I think that's the consultant's problem? It'll all be on the computer, I expect.

I just hope I'm not going to be told off tomorrow. It's bad enough seeing a consultant - he'll probably just tell me I'm fine and he doesn't need to see me again so I'll have got all uptight over nothing.

Try not to worry Annah as there's nothing you can do about it now.

I don't think he'll tell you off he'll probably send you for bloods at the hospital.

I hope you go on alright.

it's easily done, Annah. I note everything on my phone and then transcirbe it into my two paper diaries, one in my 'office' (I work from home) and one on the kitchen calendar. That, however, doesn't always work. DD

I just got a letter - or rather, I just read it because I foolish assumed it was just written confirmation (note to self: never make this mistake again). They've moved my appointment to Wednesday. Still not enough time for the blood test though, so I won't worry about it.

I'm getting bored of going to the hospital. Surely in these days of the internet, they could just Skype me instead?

    Hi Annah,

It will be fine and they used to people forgetting to have their bloods done as we often do.

Would be good if all appointments could be done by skype eh?! So much easier as well.

Will be in your pocket on wensday and hope it will all go well. Cris x

Went to the hospital and it was fine. The consultant ordered some bloods done at the hospital. The only thing I was in trouble for was forgetting to take some over the counter vitamin D he had ordered (he showed me the letter he wrote to me, telling me to do so and I felt such a fool). But then he was weirdly nice to me - apparently he'd been reading up on my condition and decided I needed sympathy. He patted me!

Good news about my hip though - it's bursitis, not OA as feared, so I limped home quite relieved. It should eventually heal up. I've been warned I could well have osteoporosis but he said they're taking that into account in my treatment, so there is no point in testing until I hit menopause.

He doesn't want to see me for a year, unless the blood tests show anything alarming. So although I'm having a bad week where everything hurts (whatever you call it), I feel strangely better about the whole thing. I think I was more worried about my hip than I realised.

So its back to the GP and seeing if I can get my pain meds more sorted out. And off to Boots to get some vitamin D pills, of course!

I have a connective tissue disorder so steroid injections are not advised, although we have discussed it in the past (I said no thank you).
