We have jays

One turned up in our garden a few weeks ago. I'd only ever seen one before - apart from blue jays in US - so I was dead chuffed. Later he brought his missus but we couldn't believe it, a few days ago, when the 4 little jays turned up with Mum & Dad. Six! And I'd only ever seen one in all my life before.

Wow, I have never seen a jay. You are very fortunate. I used to love watching and feeding the birds, but since we have Izzy they are reluctant to come into the garden.

I hope they give you much pleasure watching them. :D

They're lovely, Val. About the size of a magpie but with a sort of pink/apricot body, black and white head and tail feathers and a blue streak on top of their wings.

We've had three together in our garden too a month or so ago, we couldn't believe our eyes. It must be 10 years since we've seen one so maybe there's an influx of them.

They're a pretty bird, bigger than a blackbird and smaller than a raven.

Lucky you! We had one visit our garden a couple of times last year. That was the first one I'd seen. I haven't seen one this year though.

Jays? Wow. We have blackbirds, blue tits, robins, a pair of doves, loads of pigeons, magpies and things which I call seagulls (I know that's not their proper name). I can hear a woodpecker in the opposite greenery but jays? Nope. Lucky you! They are attractive birds. DD

No problem. If ever you want a picture of something up I'm happy to do it for you so just ask .....................that goes for anyone.

Alternatively I could explain how to do it if you ever feel you'd like to know. :)

oh you are lucky to have seen them in your garden.
we have the usual variety of birds..
and next door who is always putting bread out in his garden has seagulls swooping down to get it..
next street over had them nesting and no one could walk down there road..
they are a nuisance at times.

but i love watching the birds in our garden

Thanks for the offer, Legs. I'm sure I could learn for myself with just a modicum of interest. Problem with my aged brain cell is use it or lose it. What I learn today, I forget tomorrow, unless it's something I'm doing regularly.

Thanks for the pic. I have seen one of those in my garden, only a couple of times though. I couldn't describe it well, so noone knew what I was on about. (Happens a lot  )

That was before Izzy ruled the garden though.
