I'm getting there.

Florence and me trooped off the hospital this morning to have everything checked and to find out what happens next. I saw the wounds for the first time, I have eight stitches on each lower palm, complete with little tufts where he's tied each one off. They are the dissolvable types and should be dissolving but there is no sogn of inflammation or infection which is a good thing.

I have been given exercises to do, each to repeated ten times and done every two hours, plus scar massaging (using aqueous cream) to be done for five minutes per scar at least three times a day. Yuk. I'm squeamish about scars but it is essential to avoid tight scar tissue so I shall be a good girl, grit my teeth and get on with it.

I cannot use my crutches as yet, nor the rollator, but I may be able to drive sooner than thought: the choice as to when to try that is mine but I won't be trying for at least another ten days. That, however, will be a pointless exercise until I can walk safely to the car! I cannot return to work as yet so I shall let my clients know that over the week-end.

The scars are tender and don't look very pretty at the moment so I've tubigripped-up to offer them a little protection - thanks for that tip, Cherrybim. :)

So, all in all, I'm getting there. I can have a shower tomorrow - :D . Florence will be on hand to help me climb in and out of the bath and it will be so good to be wet from head to foot! I'm a gently Delighted Daisy.

Thank you all so much for you support over the past ten days, your encouragement and messaged have really helped. DD

Delighted to hear that all is progressing as it should DD :)

Your mention of driving as and when possible has reminded me to add an addendum to the tubigrip mittens. A piece of foam sponge, or preferably sea sponge trimmed to suit and popped inside the mitten over the palm acts as a jolly good shock absorber, whether it be a manual or an auto gear shift car you drive.

You do of course realise that you'll now have to turn down any chiromancy 'parties' to which you may be invited

Keep up the good work with the exercises and massage, you'll have the softest little paws on the forum er long, bless :D

That's great news DD first hurdle over, and the men in the white coats weren't even called for  hopefully the next stage will not be as trying and challanging as the first, and heaven tomorrow to get that shower, yes, scars are not the nicest of things, but what we have got to do has to be done, keep up the good work so pleased everything seems to be going well...................tc..................Marie xx

Thank you, one and all. It dawned on me earlier that not once has Flo washed my face since 20 November - - but there again I've only been out of the house thrice since then so it can't be too grubby! The shower and hair-wash will be lovely (conditioner here I come) and I will attempt a shin-shave as we are out tomorrow and somehow fuzz-free legs do feel better when socialising (despite the fact I'll be wearing jeans as they have a cold house).

I have done enough massage today (three times since mid-day!) it does aggravate matters and makes things more sore than really necessary but the exercises are going well (also done thrice). I have been taken out for a celebratory pint - happiness is! - and tonight he is doing gammon with roasted vegetables. Yum-yum.

I nearly have my hands back - cor! That is soooooo smashing!:D DD

    Hi DD

I am so pleased to hear you're appointment went well. I am sorry, I have only just seen this new thread. I have been checking on you're old one as to finding out how you were on. I think my brain is finally starting to give up on me now.

Did you manage to get you're legs shaved by the way.

Again, I am glad that you are recovering well, and that you have been good. I cant imagine what it was like for you without the use of both hands. Sending some more gentle hugs your way.

Thank you one and all. I must admit I am a rather flat Daisy today, I feel very tired and am taking things very gently. Flo is in the bath at the moment and then it will be my turn. I currently don't have the energy - ye gods woman, sort yourself out! I think the weather has something to do with my mood, unlike yesterday (cold and sunny which for me is always a mood-boost) it's grey and drizzly, as am I. Dammit. DD
