Hi

I got told today by my hairdresser who has an old ford galaxy that has come to the end of its life that you can no longer declare it SORN, leave on a driveway till its scrapped, broken down for parts etc...But that you still have to pay the road tax....
Isnt this a rip off? What else are the government going to do to take money from decent people...

Thought id pass it on, maybe some already knew..

    The DVLA website says

if you don't use or keep your vehicle on a public road you don't have to buy a tax disc. Instead you must make a SORN.

If you don't make a SORN when you have to you'll be automatically fined £80 will need to get a new tax disc and must pay any tax arrears.

If you want to use the vehicle again on the road you'll need to get tax disc.

Sorn means it's off the road and needs to be physically so, so why insure it it's not going to be involed in an accident if it's on your driveway so you don't need insurance just SORN it.
