It all started with me finding this clip on the internet...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YkzHxXg0rfQ

I know someone who has only recently got summoned for one of these tests and found out today that they have passed without any issues and no in the support group. The reason it baffles me is that they don't even take any medication or have any hospital treatment, Not seeing any specialist consultant and hardly see their doctor for anything.

What makes me worry is that the genuine ones are having all the problems getting through these tests and having the horrible task of going through the appeals process where as the not so genuine ones are flying through, or at least that what it seems like. They are even joking about it saying they didn't know what the fuss was about and bragging about how easy it was and wasn't in the slightest stressed about it (apparently he was only in the centre for just over 15 minutes and was seen by a nurse.

I cant understand as they apparently go through all your medical stuff and want reports although I have heard that now they don't require you to send them in as if they want them they will request them.

Just wanted to get it off my chest as I just don't get it

The 'bar' has been raised, a lot won't pass the scrutiny, its not personal, its politics. A lot can happen between now and the 2015 date when we get examined, end of the present government, election, new strategies, a party that needs to cosy up to the electorate or even a party that wants to present an honest government and not use ATOS type firms for medical scrutiny?

Or we could accept that some pairing of the GB budgets is needed and the personal emotional upheavals are a feature of being disabled or you could vote differently at the next election? What will you do?

They do seem to pick on the wrong ones...but the genuine ones are easy targets...I think we all know of people that get round the system. ..the video clip is very interesting...good luck with it all

It seems to be medical for this - medical for that now it must be costing a fortune and what worries me is what happens if someone has a car on motability and fails the new medical for P.I.P - If they appeal do they lose the car right away?

I can see lots of problems ahead and as for this government it was Labour who started the ball rolling with the assessments and the Conservatives making the ball run more further when they got in.

I cant see the current government winning another term but who to say over the next 2 years they will try and offer some sort of sweeteners (who for, well that's a different story)

It was the conservatives that introduced D.L.A and now they are saying that something they started is no longer fit for purpose.

Then after all this there is all the changes with the introduction of The Universal Credits.

    Hi Justin
Well that made my blood boil :x
Once again the benefit cheats spoiling it for the ones truly in need
I've got my ESA tribunal a week Saturday will let you know how I get on
I have Osteoarthritis and inflammatory arthritis plus long standing back pain for 25 yrs but managed to carry on working till last year, so after 30 yrs of hard slog its destroyed my health maybe I should sue the NHS for taking more than a pound of flesh over those years
DWP say I'm fit to work cos technically I can pick up an empty box hold a thin A4 file and I can still work with pain! Can't wait for that bit to come out!
I have a lovely quote or two from my occupational health doctor who stats I can't use keyboard or mouse and one saying he did not know of any job I can do due to my poor mobility and poor manual dexterity
So watch this space as they say

Hi Marie, Its a disgrace, DWP say people can work if they can pick up an empty box after all I don't know one job that involves moving empty boxes they usually have something in them.

Im sure there are lots of people who have mobility cars and if the Atos regime decide people are fit they are going to lose their car! Hopefully not until any appeal it heard.

I don't think there is a benefit that this government haven't left alone and if there is how long before they move onto that one.

Hope your tribunal goes well - Good luck.

Nice post Airwave. Hopefully I'll get the chance to vote them out.

Justin I think your friend was an extremely rare case and am surprised. Did s/he actually have to attend the test or was it cancelled because the medical notes were enough for them to pass?

I think you have to give back your mobility car if you are still waiting a decision on PIP. You can't even make the payments yourself while waiting on appeal. If PIP is successful you have to go out and start again with a new car. A lot of people are saying on other forums that they are handing back the cars and just getting the mobility rate to put towards a car not on the mobility scheme in order to exercise some control.

With a mob car you have to take into consideration that insurance and servicing are all covered. You also have to be sure that you can continue to afford any car payments if you fail to qualify under the new PIP criteria.

Personally I will keep a mobility car for as long as I can until re-directed over to PIP.
