The saga of Mr Foot

About a week ago, I was indulging in the dangerous task of getting dressed in my bedroom. After sitting to put my trousers on, I really went wild and stood up to fetch a necklace. This was far too much for Mr Foot to handle and he tripped me. I heard a crack and crunch (Mr Foot) followed by a scream (Sophie). I assumed it was my dodgy ligaments (I need surgical repair on both feet but I've yet to decide which to do first :() so we hobbled on with our day with the aid of Miss Tramadol.

A few days later, I was still in agony and even putting a duvet on Mr foot was painful, so I hobbled with him to the walk-in clinic. I waited 2 hours despite getting there at 8 am. I finally had an x-ray as my tenderness was over his bones, not actually near the ligaments. I waited another hour for the results where I was told that their x-ray machine is old and of very poor quality, so while the nurse was "fairly certain" that there were no obvious breaks or dislocations, she couldn't rule out a fracture for poor Mr Foot. :? I was sent on my way and told that I'd receive a phone call within 2 weeks once a senior radiologist had reviewed the x-ray. I sobbed in the car, firstly because I still didn't have answers and secondly because my other foot (Mrs Foot) was causing so much pain too.

A day or so later, I realised that the damage is in the same place where I've had persistent synovitis for the last 4 years, so there is a chance that I've just aggravated the poorly joints but still, I'm a teensy bit concerned that there may be a fracture. Mr Foot is also a teensy bit concerned as well as miffed that he's not allowed to lie in bed because university and placement is full on and we're not able to have time off.

Having previously hoped that I could ease off with the crutches, (and I was just getting around to the idea of sticks!) I am now fully reliant on Bill and Ben, who are very disappointed that due to Mr Foot's moment of madness, they are no longer allowed their holiday in the cupboard under the stairs.

I'm seeing my rheumy on 12th November, so I'm hoping she'll take pity on Mr Foot and send him to a better quality photographer. :D

Thank you for the replies. Mr and Mrs Foot are both in a very bad mood today. I shall feed them chocolate, pringles and haribo and send them to bed early. We got lots of sweets and chocolate for Halloween but we haven't had many trick or treaters this year which is sad but good for me....more to eat!

Clear the title caught people's eyes because it got lots of views.

Sorry I missed this, Sophie. A busy few days with family and friends. Now that I'm here I don't know what to say. Commiserations definitely but no advice. I just hope the news is good on 12th. (I can't help but think of the 'Late Arrivals' announcements at one of the ISIHAC balls. "Mr & Mrs Foot and the two Miss Feet"
If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

Poor you Sophie. Your presentation of this sorry tale made me smile and think how it would make a good children's book for kids suffering from our arthritic diseases. Sorry - I'm just in creative mode again while on Prednisolone and all lemons are being duly squeezed and stirred with a delicious syrup - yours included I'm afraid

My feet have been chosen by my RA as the best location possible to dwell and reap havoc just now so I can relate. Have you got a good podiatrist? I found one who specialises in rheumy conditions and he's fabulous but rather fierce too. My GP refers to him as the Wizard of Oz. Seeing him again this Wednesday. I'm a little scared of him but looking forward to getting my new foot inserts at least. Mat x
