A very rheumatoidy sort of Christmas.

I supposed I shouldn't be surprised really; arthur has made an appearance at most events for the last 5 and a half years, so why should Christmas be any different? My stomach has been furious because I've been deviating from my usual, bland diet of white carbs, white carbs and white carbs. Every Christmas event that's involved food has resulted in a night of no sleep, severe pain and vomiting. Of course, Christmas is not just the 25th and all the combination of work lunches, family parties and social gatherings has pushed my poor digestive system to breaking point. It's been boiled rice and ginger biscuits for me today....and probably for the foreseeable future. :( Usually, I would accept that this is part of the ebb and flow of living with chronic illness but given that it's impacting on every part of my life, I feel it is time to find a new plan.

I hope you get back to normal {whatever that is  } soon
I still feel a bit fragile but not as bad as before

So sorry to hear that Starburst, it does seem so unfair that you can't even enjoy the seasonal food and events. I do hope you are going to be sensible and take some time off work on sick leave to try and build yourself up a bit before returning to work. There are a lot of nasty bugs doing the rounds at the moment and as I know you were very rundown before this if you rush back to work too quickly you are more likely to pick something else up and be worse. I know you will worry about your clients/caseload but you are of less use to them if you are not well!
And remember, sick leave NOT holiday leave!

    Oh Poor you Sophie :xmas_sad:

I have had a lot of belly trouble too. Mostly to do with indulging in stuff I love, but doesn't agree with me like CHEESE

    I love cheese :xmas_sad:

I do hope that a few days on your bland diet will ease things off for you - you too Hileena!

    Love

Unfortunately, my current symptoms are an on going feature of my stomach condition. It's called Gastroparesis and it is known to get worse but I hope it's just a blip due to Christmas munchings. I'm waiting to see a specialist who has an interest in the condition to see if there's any way forward. I'm sorry to those who also have dodgy tummies, wishing you a speedy recovery.

I had a productive day; got some studying done, make a lovely dinner and even had a little stroll. Back to work tomorrow, so it'll be an early night for me.

Our bodies are very quick to let us know when we've let them down: they don't know about feast days, high days and holidays until we show them that it is. It never ceases to surprise me that it's always the food we like that is bad for us but there again I suppose we don't eat the things we don't enjoy. I presume you're back on your diet horse, Sophie, and I hope things soon improve.

I'm off to break the ice on the bird bath. DD

Thinking of you and hope you're feeling a bit better and not overdoing things.

I never got to this at the appropriate time, Sophie, but I hope the return to work has been as smooth as possible and that your new year starts better than the old one finished.

I can agree with all the different types of goodies you have over Christmas gives your stomach a bashing and it answers back with giving you vile stomach upsets! At least I'm more like me again now!!
