I don't get nerve pain but why not suck it and see?

I would say this is probably a very individual thing, give it a try it cant do no harm!

There's only one way to find out, isn't there? DD

I did try, I had a lovely hot bath and it made my pains worse.
Ok, does heat make inflammation worse?
    :?: :?: :?: :D

Maybe try a wheat bag next time.

Hot baths might depend on the heat of the bath. I know they get quite uptight about them in hospitals. Warm might be better than hot.

My RA / OA usually responds well to a hot bath ie on 9/10 occasions it helps. On the 10 occasion it just makes it worse. I've no idea why.

As for inflammation - some find heat helps and others respond better to ice.

In my experience inflamed joints are usually hot to the touch and require ice. DD

I have nerve pain due to a neurological condition and sometimes I soak my extremities in luke warm water and Epsom salts it helps relieve the pain a bit when I am in a flare. x

Ah, when I earlier replied I wondered whether to include a hint about trying a small area first via a wheat bag or hottie: now I wish I had. The trouble is that when one is a few years in you assume that people know these things, whilst completely forgetting that of course they don't. Having a bath is physically beyond me and has been for many years (I need a Wallace-type invention to launch me from one!) but, if you are capable, then maybe a cooler one might help.

I reckon there is more than one kind of inflammation but, seeing as how the root word of 'inflammation' must be 'inflame', the hint that heat won't help is there: alas we are all different and we don't know what works until we try. I hope things have now eased. DD
