So I am back seeing my consultant today after 6 months.

What a 6 months they have been!
I came of Meth in April, as I was very ill with it and got given a Steriod Injection into the knee.

Whilst the Steriod Injection has helped somewhat I am still in a considerable amout of pain and it is getting worse each day, particulary in the morning's.

My GP (who is very good) prescriped me with the really strong Co-Codomal, which I take every so often, but i don't want to take that all time. So I am hoping my Consultant puts me back on something else (Not Meth!).

Will see what happens.

On the plus side I have lost a bit of weight! There is always a positive!
:)

Oh Debra, you have had a rough ride haven't you? I hope the consultant comes up with something, what other DMARDs have you tried? Are you on an anti-inflammatory as well as the co-cos? Good luck with your appointment but if you aren't on an anti-inflammatory and haven't tried one maybe it wll be worth asking about that?

Hope all goes well and your consultant comes up with a plan for you that helps.
He did not say you will not be storm tossed, you will not be sore distressed, you will not be work weary. He said you will not be overcome.

Sorry  , I can't remember what, if anything, you've been on before. Maybe nothing as meth is usually the first DMARD on offer. If so, you'll have plenty of options available. I hope the next one is better for you. Good luck.

    Visited the consultant last night.

I am still in a bit of shock!

I am not getting put on any new drug until I have seen the knee specialist.

The first option is replacing the lining in my knee, which is a minor op.
    Or..........wait for it!.............a new knee!

My consultant doesn't think they will go for the new knee option as I am only 38 years old.

But for now I have to persivere with the painkillers.

So struggling on for another few months.

I can understand the shock if that came out of the blue. Have you had x-rays or an MRI on the knee?

I can understand - sort of - the 'no new meds' thing as many take some time to kick in and some surgeons prefer their patients to come off DMARDS before an op.

I have no idea what the first op mentioned is about. I've never heard of it. As for new knees - you're right. They don't usually like to offer them at your age though I had my first two when I was 35. They do wear out even with careful use and a revision op is a bigger one.

Please let's know how you get on.
