Well, that was a good start to the day. The doc from rheumatology, who deals with osteoporosis, rang following my latest DXA scan.

Apparently my spine is in good nick and the bone density there has actually increased considerably since my last scan. (How? I don't take any potions for it other than my Calcium + Vit D supplements and I was doing the exercises when I had the previous scan.)

My arm (because they can't scan my hips due to THRs) does show osteoporosis but one has, apparently, to take that with a pinch of salt because all the years of RA that I have under my belt will have caused some changes which could be misinterpreted as osteoporosis.

So, I am to continue as before since it all seems to be working well and I'll have another scan 3 years hence. Sounds good to me.

And what was my beloved's first reaction to my good news?

“Does this mean our travel insurance will be cheaper?” asked Mr Romantic. Bless him!

That is great news! Well done on doing whatever you have done to make a difference - maybe it's the sun in which case you might need a few more trips each year which would offset any travel insurance savings

Great news, Sticky - good to hear! Clearly you are doing something right - it's not the tripe is it?

Cheaper travel insurance? Hmm, maybe Mr. Romantic wants to whisk you away to somewhere exotic?

I knew it could with alendronic acid but I opted not to take it as it can cause oesophageal problems and I can do them without help from alendronic acid. Quite why and how mine has increased I've no idea but the doc was impressed.

Thanks, everyone for your good wishes. It actually got better as I had my annual M.O.T. this afternoon. It seems my cholesterol levels are fine, my asthma is well under control, my weight good and my BP finally stabilised with my kidneys happy about it.

    Woo hoo!

Aidan, don't tempt me. I might tell you

OK there's only one place for Vit D as far as I'm concerned – California. Do we have a pilot?
