Someone said I have to inform the dvla and my insurance company about my hip replacement op, does anyone know if there's any truth to this?

You have to inform the DVLA if you've had any surgery (not just a THR) and are still not safe to drive 3 months later.
The surgeon will decide whether or not you're fit to drive but most people are.
If the surgeon is happy for you to resume driving, you need take no action. https://www.gov.uk/surgery-and-driving
I hope all goes well for you
If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

I informed both the DVLA and my insurers about the dates of the operations and the dates when I was able to resume driving (both are also aware that I am a disabled driver). I didn't know if it was a legal requirement but to me it made sense. I don't recall any comment from Swansea but, when I was paying my insurance via monthly instalments, they were reduced to £5 per month and my cover suspended. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0
