Anyone having hylauronic acid injections on the NHS?

Hi

I'm a new member and have OA in my knees. I've had the injections in my knees for two years through my work private insurance. They won't pay now and it's the only thing that works for me. I had a series of three into each knee and lasts a year. For this I've been quoted £2000.

I just wondered if anyone had them on the NHS. My specialist can only give them to existing patients as it's been cut. So I'm happy to travel to another area to get them

I've found somewhere that does the one injection for £230 per knee but apparently this doesn't last as long. Has anyone found anywhere privately cheaper than this. I'm in London Kent area but happy to travel within reason

    Welcome to the forum. Sorry you are in so much pain at the moment, I myself have never had injections on my knees on NHS but others on the forum probably have if not you can always ring our help line 0808 800 4050.

    Hi, welcome to the Forum. I had hyaluronic injections into my right knee years ago. (It was partly replaced 2009 so the injections would have been about 2005/06 I think). My London hospital instructed my local GP to do these, but the GP couldn't so my local hospital here in Kent did them for me. I had an injection weekly for three consecutive weeks and I seem to remember I had to come off the leg for 48 hours afterwards. They didn't work for me but I'm pleased to hear you've had positive results from them.
