Hi,

Can anyone recommend a really good surgeon who has successfully completed a total Knee replacement and the patient has had no concerns afterwards?

Feel like I am putting my life in someones hands, your experiences and guidance would really help.

Anita

    Dear Anita

Thank you for your posting on the helpline forum and my apologies for the delay in replying. It can feel very worrying when you are facing surgery. We cannot recommend individual medical professionals but, if you have already been referred to an orthopaedic surgeon, speaking to them about your concerns and worries may be helpful. You can also speak to your GP about your concerns. Taking a friend or family member may help to give you support during your appointments. The NHS Choices website has a facility to look up services in your area if you enter your postcode on the following link https://www.nhs.uk/service-search
The National Joint Registry collects information on all hip, knee, ankle, elbow and shoulder replacement operations, to monitor the performance of joint replacement implants and the effectiveness of different types of surgery. You can access their patient guides on the link http://www.njrcentre.org.uk/njrcentre/Reports-Publications-and-Minutes/Public-and-Patient-Guide
Our booklet ‘Knee replacement surgery’ has suggestions about what questions may help to ask your hospital team as well as information about the procedure https://www.versusarthritis.org/about-arthritis/treatments/surgery/knee-replacement-surgery/
I hope the above information is helpful. If you would like to talk through your concerns with one of our helpline team you are very welcome to call us here on the helpline. Our number is 0800 5200 520 (9am – 8pm weekdays).

    Best Wishes
    Dawn
