Numbness and pins and needles in feet whilst running

Hi, I was just wondering whether anyone else had any experience with numbness and pins and needles in the whole foot whilst running. I have been doing some 5K runs and every time I run in the pins and needles kicks in earlier and earlier. It’s across the whole entire foot and stops at just above my ankle. Initially it was just my right foot and that started to get worse and worse and yesterday it started again with my left foot whilst running again. It goes away after about 15 mins after I stop running and I was just wondering whether anybody else had experienced this. I thought maybe it was a trapped nerve or something. I have worn multiple different pairs of trainers and socks and changed the tightness of my laces so I don’t think it’s that. I have had multiple ultrasounds of my feet and there has been some thickening and fluid in and around my ankles. I think I may need an mri but I’m not sure. Thanks!

These may be early signs of something happening or your laces are tied too tight haha! After your GP the next step these days seems to be the MSK (Musculoskeletal) Team Who are Consultant GP led teams specialising in the field. Generally speaking you will have to go through the approved line of referrals before any firm diagnosis and a treatment plan. No point in upsetting you with second guesses by us this may be early days for you?

Yes, many of us get some or all of the above but we have a diagnosis I.e. a reason for it happening, so one step at a time. If you have a diagnosis it would be easy for us to say how we cope.

    its a grin, honest!
