    The exercises are unlikely to do any harm but only by dong them over a period of time will you discover exactly how much they will help. Everyone is different but it's well worth giving them a go especially if they have been set for you by a Physiotherapist or other knowledgeable person.

    Start with a small number of repetitions of each exercise every day (or more often if that's what you've been advised then increase gradually each week if you have no ill effects.

    I agree with @crinkly , the exercises will help build up the muscles that support your knee, which should protect the damaged bony/cartilage bits that are the source of the pain. But do it gently as Crinkly says. If it's hurting, then find a more gentle exercise and build it up slowly. It may not seem like much at the time, (you may be thinking "surely this isn't making any difference!?") but if you keep up with it you should see some improvement.
