    Hi Scottishlass
Thank you so much for trying so hard to help :!:
T be honest I don't know if I could find that website again, but it showed a line drawn figure with all our nodes mapped out and I did bookmark it, but can't find the actual site. Don't worry I know the net is aa double-edged sword :!: I only wanted to know if it could be a node, I hope it is because I've hada temperature for weeks and swollen ankles/knees which would make sense to me
I do beleive Scottish healthcare may well be better - I was talking to my Sis who lives in Dundee and she says tha your prescriptions are only £5 ours are £7.10 :!: ref your post on another subject :!:
Anyway I promise to brave making,(yet another),apt with the GP
    Thanks again

You can get nodules on soft tissue structures if you have RA and they can come and go. I had 2 palpable on an Achilles tendon last year and I has subsequently disappeared. You can apparently get them on muscle too. They are not life-threatening, just ache sometimes when inflammed.

    Hope this helps.

    Thank you :!:
I thought I was going mad
Made apt to see GP tomorrow and see rheumatologist on 18th, so it may well be relevant then?
You feel such a winger don't you?!
    Thanks again x

It's all new! Strange things happen to me all the time and I assume it is something to do with the RA, but I know how you feel, I always want to know what it is and what has caused it. I know most of it won't kill me but you still want to know!

I tend to batch stuff up and then I go to the GP and he says, What do you think it is? That's a great moment. I once got a really bad eye infection and I saw 2 of the GPs and they didn't know what it was and asked me what I thought was going on. It got sorted eventually.

I think in time we will be more informed than our GPs anyway and will be "experts". Wouldn't mind the GP salary to go with it!!!

    Hi Kaz
I think because it's all so new to me I'm worrying about too much! But I don't know what is relevant and what is not! Makes sense that lymph nodes in calf will be trying to help my swollen ankles really.
When I get more chilled I will try to save stuff up too, but at the moment I'm abusing you lot :!:
I too would LOVE the salary
Will make do with a lie down he he!
    thanks again

    Toni,

Can I ask, are you mobile? If not, this could be (remotely) to do with the blood-flow process. I had this but was unaware (I'm paraplegic) until I developed pulmonary embolisms - most likely as a result of a DVT in the leg. Best to get this checked out with your GP.

Sorry if this frightens you but these things shouldn't be ignored.

    Hi Bob
    Nice to speak to you.
I did check out the first lump last thursday with NHS direct incase of DVTs as I do have 'sticky' blood and was worried. I am pretty mobile at the moment and am making a point of moving as much as poss.
    Thanks for your concern

    Hi Scottishlass
Dr had a poke said "these things can happen with some arthritis's when are you seeing rheumatologist? Don't forget to tell him".
Obviously nothing to worry about so am fine. Actually I think they might be going down a little :!:
Thanks for your help and in fact thanks to everyone who helped!

    Hiya Toni

I had something very simliar about 6 weeks ago. My RA was fairly active so I wasn't walking about much. Then I got a pain in my calf, it was swollen and a little warm. I mentioned to other people and they frightened me to death saying I had a DVT.

I phoned NHS24 and I spoke to a nurse and a doctor as they were concerned. In the end, the doctor said that he thought I should go to my GP in the morning or A&E if it worsened (it was the middle of the night).

Due to being depressed at the time, I couldn't face going outside so I tried to ignore it and it did get better on its own - thankfully.

I saw my Rheumy a week later and mentioned it to him. He said if the knee is inflamed, something can happen (sorry, he got too technical for me here) and fluid can then leak into the leg. He said it is not widely known about apart from Rheumy specialist and it causes lots of misdiagnosed cases because it mimics DVT symptoms.

Just thought I'd let you know this. Sorry, it's vague!

    Hiya Littlemissnaughty!
    That does sound similar eh?!
Nice to hear someone else has had the same problem - would far rather have these than a DVT!!
Thanks for taking the time to post and I will be sure to mention this to the rheumatologist next fri.
    Thanks again

HI, I haven't posted on here for a very long time.
I have a swollen lymph node on the side of my neck (it's not painful), I noticed it not long after I was diagnosed with sero neg RA in sept 2007. I went my GP to have it checked out and he sent me to see a haematolagist, he was not that concerned because it was only a size of a bean and not painful, He said that they can swell up from an infection or viruses, and also from certain forms of Artrhritis. Hope that helps, (the Haematolgist also told me that if it start hurting or increases in size to go back and have it checked out again just to rule out anything more sinsiter)

    HI Sue
    Thanks for the reply.
Mine have both gone now, but when I saw thr Rheumy he DID know exactly what they were and they sneaked back again for a while!. I think it was relevant to his diagnosis. Hope yours stays where it is or goes away completely annoying things!
Nice to meet you and hope to see you posting again soon.

Hi, I have in the last 2 weeks felt 'something' move in the front of my neck when I swallow. It seems like the feeling I get in my knee when it is swollen......

Its not my imagination and definitely not a nervous thing. Could it be swollen due to the RA? I mentioned it to the nurse but she said she'd never heard of it; I also told my gp who said its proabably just 'one of those things'.

Any advice appreciated, I don't want my neck to swell up! Or my 'swallowing' muscles to pack up (is that another possible worry with RA?).

If I were you Jackie I'd go back to my GP and ask him to examine it. I get a sore throat with RA but no lumps or anything like you describe. Maybe others do and will come along later.

    Take care.

    Hi folks,

Thanks for replies. Well, it was the Rheumy nurse I asked about this and she said you can get arthritis in your neck, so its stiff, but she'd never heard of anyone having problems with the front of the neck.

I've googled it and yes, you can get it in the front of the neck. Something called the cricoarytenoid joint is there apparently.

Colin, Havent I read somewhere that you have problems with your neck which affect your breathing? Is it your glands or your muscles causing the problems, from RA? And you've also got it in your voicebox? Sounds scary to me :(
