Methotrexate and hair loss
Hi all
I’ve been taking methotrexate for four months and have recently noticed that my hair is falling out. Not handfuls but much more than normal. I’m convinced it’s thinner on one side of my head - where the psoriasis is. I’ve stopped taking methotrexate now because my liver isn’t coping.
My question is: will the hair I’ve lost start growing back or is it gone for good? What are other peoples experiences?
Thanks in advance.

Hi @KerryW
Welcome to the versus arthritis forum.
Whilst taking methotrexate you unfortunately suffered some hair loss. You’d like to hear from any forum members who have had a similar experience, specifically did their hair grow back.
I couldn’t find any articles on our website that directly answers your question other than this link highlighting that hair loss is common:
This chat in the forum is quite old but may contain some reassurance for you:
I hope you receive some useful feedback from forum members.
Best Wishes
