Hi
There is an auto-immune condition called uveitis which can affect children with JIA. It is a rare complication but it is quite usual for chidren to be referred to an eye specialist as a precaution.
Our booklet CHAT - a guide for parents has information on this
http://www.arthritiscare.org.uk/PublicationsandResources/Youngpeoplefamilies
It can be downloaded from our website or I can post it to you - and our book Kids With Arthritis - if you send us a private message or an email to Helplines@arthritiscare.org.uk with your address.
I can understand this is worrying for you and if you'd like to talk to one of us please ring us on the freephone number.
Best wishes
