I have been on one and found that you really do need to compete the course, although it was not what I had expected as it was more like a college course with the information being delivered as lectures, you do meet other people who are in chronic pain and they do give you some tips taht may help you, if you are offered it please take it up if you are not offered it ask your GP to refer you

I haven't done a course but I am under the Pain Clinic now and have been really impressed with the way they have treated me. Thanks to them I get free physio and acupuncture once a week. They are also doing other injections and stuff too. I had 6 facet joint injections recently and will be getting a nerve block done soon.
I would say go for it cos you never known what will help.0 -
Hi Jules,
Definately go on the pain management course, its worth its weight in gold. I have been on it, and its so brilliant, they bought down my stress levels by a great deal for a start, there is a lot of things you learn and its good as it will help you live with the Arthur better, and in my case a lot better, as I was still struggling with the mental thinking on it half of the time.
I learned so many good things from it and I now deal with the day to day living with Arthritis and its many complications a heck of a lot better.
Im happier, can distract myself better, most times I rule the pain and not the other way round.
Everybody gives you tips, hints, advice, good products to use information, and you make some good friends, I gained 5 friends who I email from it, we help each other through the rough patches.
Go and enjoy it and take a notepad and pen as there is so much stuff you will want to jot down.
In fact on 9th june I am going to a community chronic pain day, and they will have a stand from Arthritis care amongst others.
Its a 9 - 4 day and they are providing coffee, biscuits and dinner. its run by the chronic pain clinic part of the nhs. its in my home town, and I quickly signed up for it, there is a lot to go through in the day.
so if you get offered that one, grab it with both hands, all help is great,0 -
Hi
Yes go on it....I've been on one and also on challenging arthritis course and they were great....No matter how long you have had arthritis its great the tips you can pick up.
Even the leaders say they pick up tips each time.
