at the hospital!!!!

Finally got in with the gp to see about my inflamed and painful elbow. I felt so silly as there wasn't much to look at, but it really hurts. Anyway, the gp was horrified and suspected septic arthritis as it was so swollen. Even was prepared to call me an ambulance, which I declined.

I went up to the hospital, where I was examined, x rayed etc etc. Fortunately it isn't infected, it is just a flare. However it is going to need another injection, but needs resting first.

I was given some co codamols which I don't take on rheumy's advice normally, however on this occasion I thought it wouldn't hurt. Bliss!!! FLoated home from the hospital.

So am resting, and just a bit fed up. Its all a nuisance at times, but it could be worse, at least I am at home!!!!

You really do know how to party, don't you  Your Friday night reminds me of an early Sunday morning in A&E 2-3 years ago - just me and the drunks

I'm glad it's been looked at and prescribed for, Suzygirl. I hope the cocos help. Funny bones are not at all funny sometimes. (())

Thank you. Only a fellow sufferer could understand that you just have to laugh at how things change  The staff were brilliant, so kind and helpful.

I got so stiff sitting though, for all that time. My other joints are all joining in today, protesting at being left out.

Truth is a very good friend came with and sat with me, as I was a bit teary when the gp said off to hospital for an aspiration. Not sure why, except that a gp visit these days is always complicated. Gp was lovely though, I apologised for causing a fuss, and she said it was patients like me that reminded her of why she became a medic!!!!

Oh Suzy, what a palaver again. I am glad it wasn't septic arthritis though because that can be really nasty. You do seem to be having a really tough time. So here's a big ((())).

I'm glad your doc was kind and thoughtful and it actually sounds as if she got something out of seeing you too, which is lovely.

Now then, no football for you this weekend. There's plenty of rugby on TV so lots of youthful male bodies to lust after.

Keep resting, and 'floating'. That's the route to recovery.

Frogmella, and vilier thanks for the hugs, much appreciated.

Sticky, you do make me laugh :lol::lol: I did have the rugby on actually  Unfortunately my hubby is away overnight on a stag do, so I have to do footie duty this weekend. I am dreading it, training was called off this morning due to weather so really hoping that the match is as well. I* couldn't let my son down as I was too ill to go last week.

Am back in bed now, did get up earlier but felt too unwell so am back. Haven't been this bad for ages. I hope it snows tomorrow as forecast. Then everyone else will grind to a halt as well.

    Hi Suzygirl

I am so very glad you went to see the doc and most relieved to hear it wasn't septic!!

Nice friend to go with you to the hospital - sounds positive and thank goodness you have those co-cos to tide you over until you can have a jab.

Shall I do you my snow-dance so the footie gets called off

I hope you and your kindle are resting.

    love

I do hope there's no footie and that, if there is, a mate will give him a lift. I well remember freezing on the touchline every week (with a flask in the car). I hope the cocos are still helping, Suzygirl.

Well, the match was called off and I am so thankful. It absolutely poored with rain today and I would have hated being in that. I had a lazy day with my boys :D

Only down point was being in agony last night with pain and stiffness. Kept waking up with all joints in both hands and arms, locked and the pain to move awful.

The co codamols make me so tired which just adds to the fatigue I already feel. Flare is worsening, which I am not thrilled with but hey ho  Using them sparingly to avoid sleepiness and other side effects.

Its snowing here now, so am hoping for a snowy time tomorrow, which means more time with my boys :D they are big now, so every moment precious (as it always was, but more so ) Watched the Source Code this afternoon, excellent film, loved it. Izzy keeping me company as always :D

Trying to be positive despite it all.

Morning Suzygirl. I'm very glad the footie was called off. Not a day for freezing on the touchline.

I'm afraid I've no suggestions about the joints other than to rest them - as in REALLY rest them.

As for sleeping, can you ensure you take some cocos about half an hour before bedtime? Mind you, I sometimes think sleeping well and / or bneing drowsy during the day does nothing for aching joints as we are then apt to leave them in positions that do them no good at all.

Leaving you a few of these. (((()))) They're harmless

Sticky that was my thinking over the painkillers. I am so stiff at the moment that sleepiness is not helping the matter. I am saving them for when it is too bad, which I know is not the idea, but better than seizing up. Glad I am not the only one who thinks like that!!

Snow all melting, so school still open, Never mind, it is half term next week. :D

Glad that you didn't have to go to the football yesterday.

I am afraid I take my cocos to induce sleep because I would rather be in asleep than awake and in pain! I hadn't thought about the whole seizing up thing though. But, having said that, my pain is better the less I move so maybe I am lucky that way?!

Hope you feel better soon, can't wait for half term.

Glad footie was called of suzy, but sorry that they had to go in. So nice not to have to get them up at 7am isn't it?

Ah well as you say half-term next week.

Still rough I am afraid. Had a hospital appt for my eyes today, put the drops in and I hate them, they dry my eyes out terribly. Got my hospital appt through for the 28th. Will sit it out till then unless it gets any worse.

Popped to a shop quickly and used my crutch instead of walker as it is only a tiny shop, fell over and knocked a load of shoes over  Balance is bad at moment as well!!

Got a feeling all my ulcers are starting to appear again, if it gets as bad as before I will definitely complain. However I know I will be seen immediately if that happens, so I am slightly reassured.

Hope you are all keeping warm.

You really are going through it on several fronts right now, aren't you? I do hope the ulcers don't return. You have enough to handle without them. Is there anything you can do to discourage them? I keep thinking avoid sugary stuff and keep washing your mouth out with salt and water but I've no idea where I got that from  28th must seem a long way away right now. (())

At the moment, the ulcers seem to be behaving. 8) I have contacted the rheumy nurse as they want to see the ulcers :? , haven't heard back yet. Meanwhile got an appt to see the consultant on the 7th March, when am seeing the nurse on the 28th  Defintely cancelling one of them!!!

Slept so well, last night, but elbow has locked again. Can't have everything. Hope you are ok, Sticky.

Good about the ulcers and sleeping. Less good about the elbow locking. I expect that's your punishment for a good night's sleep

As things stand, I wouldn't cancel either appointment yet. Talk to your rheumatology nurse first then have a think.

Hi Suzygirl. Sorry to hear you are having a rough time at the moment and hope things will improve for you soon. Wishing you well for your appointments. I've also got hospital appointment for 28th - for knee x-ray - think my knee has decided to come out in sympathy with my poor back, so will think of you.

    Take care. Gentle ((()))

Thanks Beryl. The rheumy nurse phoned back and I have to go in on Tuesday to see a registrar who has an interest in SLE. The ulcers are extremely rare. Feel a bit like a freak show
