Hi I have lupus and RA. Your rheumy will take a full history including family health and do a full bloodwork up. This will check for inflammation and antibodies specific to both diseases and others. There are lots of sites with info on lupus, have a look at the criteria list and see if any of your symptoms fit. In the meantime keep a symptom diary so you can present a clear picture to your rheumy.
Let us know how you get on.

Hi you can get lupus at any age, I would try not to worry. What specific symptoms to lupus do you have that make you think you have it? A reaction to sun is common in lupus, has it happened on more than one occasion? Autoimmune diseases can run in families, so a sister will have lupus, a gran diabetes, an uncle MS etc. The doc will usually start with an ANA blood test, if it is positive they then do further antibody tests specific to lupus, sjorgens, RA etc.

    Hope this helps.
