Hello Jenny!
Yes I have had bursitis in the hip...really painful it is too!!!''
I was referred for physio but after four weeks and no improvement the physio suggested we try acupuncture which she was also licensed to do. (and therefore on NHS)
Although a bit sceptical, I agreed...but it really did work! I had the acupuncture for eight weekly sessions and glad to say I have not had bursitis in my hip since.
Hope the physio works for you! good luck. Iris x0 -
i will give anything a go what with jordan limping on his left leg and me limping on my right we must look like a right pair  .still nice to know there is light at the end of the tunnel0

Hi, Yes I've had it a few years ago now, it was when I was working and doing a lot of walking. I had it for several months and it just got worse and worse, in the end I went to the docs and she gave me a steriod injection, which everyone told me would be awful, but it wasn't too bad at all and it did the job. Hope you feel better soon. Love Sue0

Hi jenny from one jenny to another .... I had physio last year for this they did ultrasound and it felt nauseating when the thing went over the painful areas .. it helped a little ... and then I had hydrotherapy because I could not walk my hip kept giving away ... I can not take anti-inflammatory as I am allergic to then and have had difficulty being treated with medications I also have asthma ... if I try to overdo things it gets worse, it has never really gone away ... the injections did not help mine either ... I wish I could say something positive to you because I know how painful and incapacitating it can be ... I am to try acupuncture ... I will report back when I have had it done ... jennyjordansmum wrote:hi all has anyone ever had hip bursitus as i have had mine now for 5 months and it's agony does it go :?: i start physio next week and the doctor has now put me on tramadol for the pain as i can't take anti inflamatories cause of my asthma.

Hey how did Jordan get on?? Was the apt today??0 -
the dr has now pescribed me tramadol for it but oh the pain i can hardly walk
it's making me feel so low.I can now understand the pain that everyone on here including jordan must feel everyday,i am hoping the physio will give me a stick or a crutch as i think this may help a little.

Hi
If it is bursitis then a stick would help as you need to rest it as much as poss

Hi jordansmum
you do need to rest it as much a possible as it can be so severe you cant walk .. sorry for saying this, but i have had a really bad time with mine ... i could not do the physio as it felt like it was grating and everymovement made it worse ...
crutched are more usefull than a stick, they will help take the weight off it for a while ... also i had hydro for mine last year .. gentle exercises it was a gradiual process .... doesn't all of this pain get you down mine has been bad today .... I am having to sleep slightly twisted which is making my back worse .. i am going to try one of those cocyx cussions with the hole in it and see if i can use it around my hip/pelvic area in some way ...

Hi jordansmum . it is excruciating pain from this and the only thing I could do was to rest it ... I was so frustrated with it last year ... I hope you manage to find the time to rest it and get some relief from it soon .... mine is still there, waiting in the background ....
good luck with the physio ... jenny0 -
Hi Jenny
I have had bursistis on and off for several years, and know how painful it is.
In the past, I have had steroid injections, which didn't always last or even work at all. I also had acupuncture, with some success.
However, last November, I saw my consultant for my OA, and he told me there was a new type of injection for bursistis. He said it was a slow-release anaesthetic, mixed with a steroid.
I had this injection, and it has been a great success. The consultant said I might need another one, but I have been pain-free, so it isn't necessary.
Maybe you could ask about this injection.

i know the 2 injections i had were mixed with local anesthetic and steriod but not sure wether they were slow release i will have to ask. Thanks for that.

Hello Jordonsmum
Yes, I have bursitis (left hip) which is in a bad flare at the moment. The other hip is now almost as bad
Have had three of the same injections as you in the left but not the right hip. I shall be ringing my consultant tomorrow to check up when my next appointment is. I shall leave an update of the situation and I expect he will be rubbing his head in frustration.
I have tried physio and accupuncture to no avail and my chiropractioner has told me that I have oa (wear and tear) which is what my consultant put down in my notes. I tend to put an ice pack on mine to relieve the inflammation. Also, like you, I have asthma,
Do hope you get some relief from the pain soon.
