Rocker shoes/soles

Has anyone tried some kind of rocker shoe or had a shoe modification to the sole of their shoes which allows you to rock while you walk. I have OA in my right toe and ankle. I was wondering if this shoe modification would help me. The cost implication is £180 from what I can gather. This is why I was interested in a response from you peeps before I buy. Any info on this would be greatly welcomed.

i have had trouble with severe foot pain to and was told by podiatrist to try a rocker style shoe. i bought some trainers with the rocker sole, cost about £30 from a sports shop and they are so comfy!
i'm tempted to try some mbt shoes as they have proper rocker soles, cost about £60 plus, so i'm investigating that, i'll let you know how i get on

I don't know if these are similar but I wear my MBT trainers all the time. I have had them some years now and wore the soles down and sent them off to be resoled and they came back as new.
They are not cheap by any means but have been a lifesaver for me.
I think they are absolutely brilliant. If you are interested google MBT homepage. Because I have arthritis the VAT was taken off the price for me.

I've been thinking about these rocker soles but have been put off trying them by the price, would love to hear other's experiences with them,

Does anyone know if any of the brands come in different fitting widths? I've been put off because I require an exceptionally wide fitting and I need some with soft backs, too.

My MBT's were expensive but money so well spent. No other trainers have been so comfortable. I wear them all the time and if it is hot weather than the Crocs take over. I have not bought the sandals, only because I hate my toes being on show. Crocs hide them
I cannot thank MBT enough! To have had the soles wear out shows how much I wear them and for how long I have had them.
It is ultra important to have them fitted by a specialist fitter who knows all there is to know about MBTs. The person I saw certainly did and she pointed me in the right direction when I needed them repaired and even ran off all my details which she had stored, for me to send with the shoes.

Thanks for the help. MBT's are the ones I was looking at. To keep costs down, i may try the other cheaper suggested alternatives first.0

If you do see a podiatrist or the patient appliances department (love that name!! ) they will sometimes suggest it. I have extra deep shoes and orthotics and they put rocker soles on my last pair - personally though I didn't even notice the difference its the insole inside that makes the difference for me. Good luck, I hope you find something that suits you. Regards, Josie0

Sketchers do their Shape Ups range with rocker soles too. You can get from from Schuh for about £90 I think. I've tried them on and they're comfy and quite fun to walk in, but that was before I had any feet problems so I don't know if they'd still be quite as comfy!0

I have just bought a pair of mbts because I wanted some footwear which would provide me support and pain relief for my arthritic big toe and ankle. The pain is really slowing me down in the gym, making exercise difficult when wearing my normal reebok trainers. Yesterday i wore my new MBTs to work and the gym, the pain reduction has reduced by about 75%. General support for my knees and hips has been noticed to. I would recommend these to anyone with similar problems to me.0

So you are a fan of MBT's too.
Remember not to wear them for too long to begin with. Increase the time each day. That was what I was told when I was fitted for them by someone trained and well up on every aspect of MBTs.
I LOVE my MBTs and have worn them so much that have also sent them away to be re soled. I was bereft without them for a few days.
I am a couple of week post op from a Total Knee Replacement so at the moment I am not wearing them but some other sensible shoes. I will be back with the MBT's once I am out and about more.
Luv

Just bought some rocker sole shoes from

They're really helpful, do free returns and have a big sale at the moment - also really nice style, not old granny shoes, even if I am an old(ish) granny,
