Temazepam

Hi
I have always had problems sitting and especially lying in bed.
I went to my doc last week and she put me on Temazepam to help me sleep and it has done wonders for my leg pain!
I am a whole heap of meds that don't help me at night and this is the only med so far where i have seen a great improvement at night.
I know these are addictive like alot of meds that i take.
It is supposed to be along the lines of Diazepam that it relaxes the muscles.
I wonder if anyone has used or heard of anyone who is using Temazepam for pain?
Thanks for listening.

Hi Heather
Temazepam is what you might call the "old school" of sleeping pills. It is effective and like Diazepam has a mild relaxing effect on the muscles. We always had them on our night trolley, when I was nursing, back in the days when Florence was a lassAdmittedly, all those years ago, everyone was on them, regardless. Times have changed and for many there was no need whatsoever. The same for Diazepam, it was almost fashionable to be at the Drs "with your nerves" (quite how you would get there without them I don't know) but they were doled out like smarties, to the detriment of many people who suffered greatly when they had to reduce and stop their medicines.
I too take Diazepam and one of the newer drugs, Zopiclone. They are addictive, as are the stronger pain killers, like the codeine based drugs, but, as I and my Drs say, what is the lesser of two evils, to have some sort of sleep pattern and relaxation of the aching bones and muscles, not to mention the reduction in anxiety and or stress levels due to pain etc - or sit and debate the possible long term effects of taking addictive medication for a prgressive and longterm illness? As long as you stick to your prescribed doseage and are aware of the side effects, then I see no harm whatsoever is taking these medicines in moderate doses.
Goodness I am rambling, sorry, you will be alseep on the keys. :roll:XX Aidan (still known as Bubbles).0
