Hi, I have often said that my Rheumy is a very difficult to get along with, because I missed 2 appts due to the death of my father in law and also side effects of MXT, she has written to my gp to complain about me, my gp has written back to her telling her of my problems, but I have told my gp that I need a change of Rheumy.

I have been kept on MXT for 13 years despite rising ESR and bad side effect, but my Rheumy says there is nothing else to do, I have already tried Sulpa and Plaquenil, I hae had enough and feel that shs should be doing more for me.

So I am waiting to hear from my gp again love Jaspercatxx

Your rheummy's attitude and behaviour is unbelievable.
I think it would be no bad thing to change your consultant as it seems your current one is lacking in compassion and for her to 'complain' to your gp speaks volumes about where her priorities lie.

Surely there is more that can be done if Mtx has been ineffective in controlling arther inflammation and has been giving you side effects to boot?.

I do hope your GP at least is listening to you and will refer you elsewhere....it is your right to request a change of rheummy and hopefully you will also get a change in meds.

let us know jaspercat how you get on and meantime keep your chin up.

    Hi Jaspercat,

I think the way she has dealt with you is very out of order! I do really hope the next one will be good but nicer and more human friendly. Have you got another one close by? I am sending a ((((( ))))) and a hope that the next one will see you as a human being. Love Cris xxx

Hi, Well, thats not very caring is it! I am so sorry for you, its the last thing you need at a time like this, but maybe, in the long run it'll be for the better. YOur GP will find you a much better consultant, more human and on-the-ball.

Hope all goes well for you now, Lots of love Sue

Sorry to hear about your rheumy Jasper.

I have one very similar, her party trick is to
shrug her shoulders when I ask her something
but I know we arent in
the same area so cant be the same one.

I will be interested to find out what happens with you.
    Hope things go well.

    Love Kath

Sorry to hear that you are getting such a negative treatment from your rheumy.

I hve the same questions to ask my consultant in August I think.
Rising ESR and on a higher dose of MTX to boot.
I would have thought it should be coming down. And the side affects are making life difficult. I do sympathise with you and there is no easy answer. Just hope you are lucky enough to have another consultant.

good luck and hope you can try and get some rest, relax.

Hi Everyone, thanks for your help and support, my gp say that my Rheumy is thinking about what to say to him, I truly do not want to see her again, she was so nice when I was diagnosed, I am sorry that things have come to this, so we will await her response with interest and see what happens love Jaspercatxx

HI, I'm so sorry you have to cope wither this as well as all the other changes in your life.

I hope that you can find a good rheummy who will help you. Now is the time for fresh starts, and if it is possible, a different rheummy to bring fresh ideas to your situation.

I know how hard it is to loose a Mum, but, try and think about it as being a sad, but new start to life. I don't mean to be hard and reading what I've written I hope it does'nt come over to you like that. These big, big, changes can make you look around and see whats valuable to you and what isn't. Your health and relationship with the doctors treating you is important, so I hope that you get the new start you deserve. Lots of love Suexxx

Jaspercat, I'm really sorry to hear this. It's a shame that you have so much going on in your life. I actually spoke to a very helpful lady at the helpline yesterday and she said we are entitled to a second opinion. You can ask your GP to refer you to another rheumatology clinic in your area. Perhaps this is an option for you?

    All the best.
