Hi
Can anyone enlighten me please. I have OA of neck and spine, which i have stated before. I have had my MRI for the neck because of the problems it has been causing with my right arm, shoulder and hand, which is now affecting the left side. I get my results on Friday. The thing is i went to my opticians because my right eye is playing up. They are both very dry, which i know is the OA, but i also get pain in the right one, also the feeling that there is always something in my eye or at the back of it, it is not a gritty feeling, so my optician thinks it could be because of the problem i am having with my neck, he states the nerves are good, also the eye looks healthy. Anyone have an answer? would be grateful.

    Hi,]
I have eye problems, and I have OA in my neck, I have a compression in the spine there. I don't know if the eye problems are conected, but the rheummy should be able to tell you or refer you to neuro, which is what they did to me. Neuro couldn't find any more problems, the consultant offered to re-do the tests but, I asked the point of that and he said 'none physically, but if its worrying you, it could help' I've left it as I'm not that worried and I can always change my mind they said! j

Do you already have glasses or an astigmatisum? I do. Now its in both eyes instead of only one.

    Hi Monica,

Oh flower I got the neck same as you but mine does the left more than the right and well its so painful I hope you are getting decent help for it?

About your eyes...... If I were you I would go to eye casualty and have them checked out as here only the eye department are any good at really understanding eyes. I have a lot of problems with mine and well at the very least you may have eye drops to help with the dryness. Please think about side tracking and go to eye cas as well the pain behind the eye needs sorting a well. Good luck and please let us know you have been cus I shall come and make you if you don't  Don't worry and get it looked at please. Cris x

My neck effects the left side of my body too, I think my eye problem
is just age! My lower spine compression effects the right hip, which also has some oa. Oh Gosh, I AM falling apart!!!

I agree - the eyes hospital could well be the best idea?? eyes are so precious.

Sue how are you holding up with the sileage tape??

If it works I'm gonna get me some

    Hi Woodbon, Skezierand Frogmorton

What a lovely lot you are. Thankyou so much for your help and input. I have seen my optician again about the eye, he is definetly saying there is no problem with the eye as such, also he is keeping my appointments to every year now, but he did also say if i felt that the problem was worse to go back to him or see my gp. Also i seen the Orthopaedic doc yesterday, even though my Arthritis is servere, i have two discs protruding in neck and one in lumber area of spine, he states he cannot see anything that is touching the spinal nerve to cause concern, so he thinks it is best left alone where an op is concerned as it might cause more problems. regarding all the different pain and numbness in my body and sometimes the dizziness, he is stating that my nervous system is shutting down on itself to protect me from all the trauma the pain is causing. I am now waiting to see a Consultant truama specialist for intense physio on the body. He states that this is not just a physio who prods here and there, so cannot wait to see what this means, but it is for two hours at a time, to try and bring back feelings where there is none, and help with the nervous system. I will keep you informed. It is like writing a book with this lot going on, take care all, and thanks again for your concern, blessings to all

HI The eye thing was looked at by the neurologist and the optitian, I have verifocal lenses in my glasses, which have been fine, but now they have made me a pair of reading glasses with a prismn to help the weak muscles, verifocals are fine for walking about, reading prices that sort of thing, the reading glasses showed me how much better I can see when I'm properly reading a book or something, the main trouble with them is, I can never find them!!!   Trust me

    Hi Monica,

Really glad there is nothing wrong there except (and some except eh) the oa....discs.... oh a ((( ))) cus I know that pain and interference with life only too well.

I got a bit of eye trouble and got to catch the garage before it shuts but will read it later and get back if I can think of anything. You take care. Luv Cris x

    Hi Sue,

Is your blurred vision? They tell me mine is optic nerve inflammation or damage depending on how active the optic neuritis is.... I just straw clutching but I wonder what tests they did on yours? Hope the silage tape is helping  Luv and a ((( ))) Cris x

Hi Monica, I have similar problems with OA in my neck with boney outgrowths and OA spine, as my Dr said, it causes such a range of problems, with nerve compression, ie neuropathy, changes to spatial awareness where I go to pick things up and I am miles off the mark  also pain across shoulders that radiates down your arms and goes into spasm, radiculopathy he called it.
It affects my vision too, moreso in my right eye, but I have not been to an optician as I assume it is both age and OA. Am waiting to see Rheumy soon, so perhaps he will throw some more light on it. Take care and keep us posted. XX Bubbles

    Hi Bubbles and all

Thank you all again for writing, its nice to know that you are not on your own with these probs, although like most of us who have any type of Arthritis we would not wish it on anyone because we know and understand what it is like, not just painful but debilitating. I feel sometimes as much as the doctors help and be kind they dont really know what we go through. I will keep you all informed about this intensive therapy with the cponsultant, cannot wait myself to see what it is all about, i am just dreading the pain i am going to be in afterwards, i know thats a bit negative, but as we all know when doctors start messing about with your body, looking for what hurts and what does not, you end up hurting all over anyway. But still, take care everyone.

    Monica :)
