For the first time in I don't-know-how-many-years of injected meth, I feel sick. Some of you (who have been struggling with this for ages) may well be thinking 'It's about bl***y time, you irritating woman .' and I would agree with you. Perhaps this means it will actually start doing something now - yeah, right! I've munched 2 seeded ryvita and am now enjoying (?) a ginger infusion as recommended to robertls this morning. I shall report back. DD

No effect from ginger so far, so am trying the tried-and-tested full fat coke drink - that sorts out the alendronic acid nausea! In all honesty, it's not that bad really, just unusual. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

ha I know what you mean DD and completely by coincidence this week is the 1st time after many years of MTX that i’ve ever felt sick....I guess 25mg is the tipping point but if it makes me feel better generally then I can cope with some sickness
just gonna avoid nice food on Sundays I guess

Hi DD,
My mtx didn't make me feel sick till I went over 15 and then I had to get some anti emetics but its sort of working so get your self some anti emetics and fingers crossed you will get some actual benefit now. Luv an a sneaky honey chew stick dipped in choc Cris xx0 -
Thanks skezier, I shall put it to one side for later. I'm on 17.5 I think, have been for ages. That is neither here nor there tho with this stuff! DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

Something funny going on here ... DD, Chrissie and Marion (different thread) all started feeling sick this week after injecting meth ... I've read how it can make people sick ... but it's not a dodgy batch is it?
SpeedyI have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.0 -
My hospital brews it on Monday mornings. I've noticed the long-life version of it (used at Bank Holidays and Xmas) stings much more when it goes in, but I think this was just the usual stuff. Perhaps it's heat connected. Nothing's done the trick but it's not that bad. I think the alendronic is worse as it's a tablet.
Babycham: thanks for the reminder about the hattieness - I care not! Life is too short not to enjoy stuff, and it isn't as though the deprivation is going to lead anywhere lovely! DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0 -
I've just measured my knees, as pain levels in knees, feet and toes have been rising. Right knee, 15" circumference, as it usually is. Left knee, 20" circumference, I've amused myself pushing the fluid around, but it is stone cold which I suppose is something. I'm now 97% convinced the humira has stopped working as this shouldn't be. Wait up, Sysiphus! My stone has rolled to the bottom too! DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Hi DD
What's the next step in the treatment regime for you? I gather (from Iris) that there are fewer drug options for PA, compared to RA..
Will you have the fluid removed?
I always remember seeing the Melvin Bragg interview with Denis Potter.. I didn't appreciate what PA was then.. but I've learnt a lot since 'arthur' came to stay with me!

DD, How cr*p. I don't know about your meds or what else to say. Have you made another appointment with the medics? If I lived nearer I'd bring round a crate of white wine...

Hello. I'lll reply in order 'cos I can't do the quote thing that the rest manage so elegantly!
Marion: this is my third anti-TNF, so no options left. The only thing I haven't tried is gold and I really can't be bothered. Nothing else has worked, and that is so old-hat I think there's little point.
jaspercat - thank you for replying, I hope you are feeling brighter. GPs are useless for PA. The odd thing is I don't usually have the P part of PA, just the A bit! There is a small patch of psoriasis on the inside of my left ankle, been there for weeks, but that's all. It's all inflammation, which leads me neatly to . . . .
speedalong: how well you know me! I will ring the helpline tomorrow, and get myself booked in for a draining. I thought those days were gone, it's the one thing I cannot hack. Me and my boulder are at the bottom of the hill. I just have to get ready to push it up again . . . . DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0 -

A bit of (un)healthy competition wont do Sysiphus any harm with his boulder challenge ...
Hope you get an appointment quickly.

Hi DD
It's awful to think there are no further treatment options for you.
Are there any specific experts in PA the UK??
My consultant sometimes refers very 'treatment resistant RA patients' to a Professor in Yorkshire who specialises in RA - just for a one off consultation for advice... I wondered if there was anyone, perhaps in the ARC units across the country, who has a particular interest in PA?
Just a thought..
Hope you have a better day today.
Best wishes

PS - how is your nausea??
I was 'retching' yesterday after tea - not nice - and not been like that since 2008 when I was on Mtx tablets
.. felt a bit better lying in bed concentrating on a radio programme..
Oh - have just remembered - lost 3 stone in 3 months in 2008 with all the sickness - could do with a bit of weight loss now!!

Hi DreamDaisy
Hope this means it'll have a positive relief for you very very soon.
Thinking positive thoughts for you.

Thank you everyone. Things continue to decline apace, the arthritis is running riot now. Little pockets of fluid everywhere, on two crutches in the house, the pain is intense but I have to work this afternoon, so hopefully that will take my mind off things for a bit. I'm still waiting to hear back from the hospital re draining, seeing someone etc etc, but I'm not holding my breath. 11 months is a good innings, I have had some respite from it all, so really there are no grounds for complaint. Hope the small fry do the job of distracting you...
did someone say something a bout syphalis??
You know I am wishing you HUGE amounts of well

If only it was. At least I might have had some fun contracting it. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

DD sorry you are having all the cr@p thrown at you. I have no words which will help, can only offer tea and sympathy and some empathy.
Oh, if I remember rightly, Sisywotsit got very much above himself before being given his eternal task.............there might be hope for you yet!

DD, I hope the hospital gets back to you asap and your pupils do their best to distract you. Thinking of you,
Speedy
PS and I'm very glad you aren't contracting syphilis ... otherwise you might defect to a different forum ...I have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.0 -
DD
Your inflammation are down which is good isn't it? You need to get better pain relief to break the cycle that you seem to be in. It's not nice the pain but the anti-tnf is working to some extent.
Good luck

Oh DD, I'm so sorry things have got haywire again for you.
Sending loads of gentle hugs and really hope the hospital contacts you asap.
Wish there was something useful I could do but failing that...
Sent with heartfelt good wishes.
