What is the correct way to use glucosamine?

Dear all, as some of you know, I've just joined the forum to find more info and help for my mother.
I would like to ask a question about the use of glucosamine.
Initially I bought a Boots box of glucosamine. It is said "Boots Feel The Difference Joint Assure Capsules have been formulated with glucosamine and chondroitin, fish oils and ginger to help maintain healthy joints."
However, later on, I read on internet that "A difference has been found between trials involving glucosamine sulfate and glucosamine hydrochloride, with glucosamine sulfate showing a benefit and glucosamine hydrochloride not". So there are two types, then.
So now I'm looking more closely at products available and there are so many products out there.
My question has two parts:
1. Is it true that we should buy specifically the glucosamine sulfate?
2. How much should you take it per day? According to what I read, 1500mg is required per day. But those on-the-counter tablet products sometimes are vague. They may just tell you to take one or two per day, ranging between 1000mg to 1500mg.

I saw a knee specialist a few years ago and he said 2 months and after that your body just excretes it He said take a break and then go back to using it.You might have to dig a bit deeper for the exact times for yourself0

I believe glucosamine can help with OA people as it provides extra lubrication for the joints. I have also heard similar things to tonesp - that after a while the body excretes it because one has too much in the system.
Many of these supplements etc are fine as we lack so many nutrients in food nowadays. Joints decrease with age and wear and tear, all the lubrication in the world isn't going to sort everything out. It can help, but they are not cures.

hi nice say it does not help gp have stopped prescribing it as no benifit shown saying that feel it did help me but takes a while to get in systemval0
