Rheumy visit/steroid jab

Due to an horrible flair in my hands and wrists and the fact I've got a commission to draw a dog I phoned specialist rheumy nurses on Friday and bless them they got me an appointment with a doc for this morning.
Not my normal rheumy but a very decent chap who works with my usual one (may be his replacement as he's due to retire) and he took a lot of time with me. Told me that the problem I've been having with left elbow was not OA as reported form the x-ray but due to huge inflamation was doubtless RA.
Upshot is I had a steroid jab in my bum and will be sent an appointment to re-assess my meds shortly.
I have to say reading some of the awful things that some of you have been through, I am very lucky that I have superb rheumatologist and GP support.
Roll on the steroid kicking in.

It is good when people are helpful, isn't it? I hope the steroid has an effect and that it helps as much as you need it to. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

Hi Fayrose,
The Rheumy nurses are fantastic, the one I saw last time got me the ‘jab’ too and it did help while I waited for the new meds to kick in.
I do hope you start to feel the difference in a couple of days.

Hi Fay,
Oh sorry i am late.... eyes are not what they should be just now.
Hope your feeling some benefit flower?
Its good they are reassessing you and maybe you will get some real and proper help now?
Wow that's some commission..... I got a friend of mine who is going to do my sheeps and old springer.... its a brave thing to do eh?!
So nice to see BJ still there hows the little one doing? Hey getting a choc lab soon....
Will have my own dog again I know I got this lot bit they are real rescue where as the new one is an ex breed bitch...... That's Cornish logic for you
leaving you a ((((( ))))) and a wish the jab will soon work and they hurry up and help you. Cris xx0 -
Thanks for your good wishes Cris, you are a star with all you are going through.
Choc lab ... eh ... what  ... just what I've always wanted.
Can't remember when I last posted about the animals, but we lost our darling old spaniel Max Sep 2009 and I still miss him every day. BJ is now almost 10 and you may (or not) remember as a Friday afternoon dog, has everything you can imagine wrong with him, apart from his heart of gold.
Love to hear about all the animals, sometimes they are the only things that keep us going I think.
Very best wishes to you and please keep us up to speed with the new dog. xxx0 -
Hi Fay,
I remember Max..... you lost him just before i lost my baby... she was 17 and hell i do miss her. that's why i thought i might find a dog i wanted rather than had to rescue.... Couldn't really go and get a normal one cus of the built in ethos I seem to have
She is older... I can't remember 6 or 8 maybe or 7 but she has just had her last litter and well they are 4 weeks old now so it wont be long.
i know her well enough to know she will take a bit of time to become secure... she is a foot sitter begging for some love but reason even though she isn't yellow (that's the color from choice for me ) she will find her feet here...
i am so lucky I have 4 fields just outside the door so they can exercise them selves on a bad day but think this lady will be a clingy little girl for a while.....
Haz was the worst dog I have ever had cus he was very screwed up... he narrowly beat the harrier cus Mi never bit me like haz did,...... I just want a nice dog
mind my girl was in rescue from 4 months and she was very messed up but her and I gelled and that's whats hard eh? to lose that bond.....
kinda think the lab will make me have the bond like it or not
secretly I kinda excited but don;t tell this lot cus they don';t know I have a two tire system......
Hope so much you are starting to get some benefits and yep i remember BJ and his 'problems' and am always gad you still have him Love and a bucket of ((( )))'s as well as a hand better draft. Cris xx0 -
Hi Cris
Thanks again for the good wishes.
I have a feeling your little lab-lady will be a wonderful companion. These poor little souls that have just been used as breeding machines are usually desperate for love. It always amazes me that after all the sh***y treatment dealt out to them by us 'oomans, they still look at us with sad hopeful eyes, just in case someone gives them a bit of time and love.
I shall look out for updates - (please make them findable for me) and wish you all the luck in the world with all the animals from cats to sheep. xxxx0 -
Morning fay
hope you can feel some benefit of the injection this morning.
But don't over do it. (i would  )and dont forget to rest

Hi Fay,
Will do flower... must ring about her cus I need some idea as to when she will be coming home.... She is a nice dog but as you say a life in kennels, however nice, doesn't make for a secure dog eh?! Mind the other 2..... well they do have real socialisation problems...... and I got the bite scars to prove it  My fault to a degree but even so,...... maybe not so keen on one of those... but would cus I really believe most things are redeemable with time and effort......
Will make the updates on her obvious... and any sheep additions that may or may not arrive Hugs fay and go easy so the jab has a chance to fight the flair. Cris xx0 -
Hi Fay
Hope you're feeling the benefit of your steroid jab and you get to finish that commission! would love to have some creative skill so am always in awe of anyone who has. :!:
as Julie PF says ... don't overdo it! although that's exactly what we do isn't it? ... as soon as the steroids kick in and we feel joints loosen up, off we go on a work/ activity/ cleaning marathon just in case it 'wears off'. Crazy or what?
Fingers crossed for you Fay that you get a good long spell of feeling better.
(((hugs)))
Irisxxx
ps.. Cris.. t'will be lovely for you to have a choccy lab. not long now? xxx0 -
Hi fay forgive the quick hi-jack flower. xxx
Hi iris,
she is lovely.... leaps at me and does like me so that's ok... will have to dye her yellow though
She is coming for a weeks trial but I know she wont go back..... might be ready spayed though I think her owner would trust me not to breed her... like i would! I need 14 labs like a hole in the head Could never let them go....
Must go over with the camera again eh?! Hugs my fiend and hopes things get better for you as well. Cris xxx0 -
Thanks Iris, thems wise words. You are right though we tend to ignore our own advice.
You take it easy too. xx0
