Hosp Appt today..

...actually went pretty well. as some of you may have remembered I stopped my MTX in December, couldn't bare it any longer.

Saw specialist nurse today who was absolutley lovely, explained how things have been really bad the last few months and how I couldn't face another side effect day of MTX so I had stopped it. She was really understanding and caring, I've had another steroid injection today (the intra muscular one) and am going to give the MTX injections a go and see how things go with that. Going in next week for training :o

The nurse has also booked me in in 8 weeks for a follow up but has said if any problems before then to give her a call on the specialist line.

Why oh Why do I end up crying though at these flipping appointments, felt like a right idiot !!! My husband said maybe it's because I plod along and bottle everything up, rarely asking for help then when I have to explain it it all comes flooding out (literally)....

So I'm off to bed now in the hope that I may wake up tomorrow slightly easier ?? (My last injection didn't really work well :( )

    fingers are crossed i also end up in tears so they must be used to it do not worry about it val

    Hi Cakegirl,
    It's lovely to read that you're feeling chirpier :D a good appointment makes such a big difference doesn't it? Glad the nurse was lovelu and listened to you. Don't worry about crying at the appointment my friend, it's good to let it out, and atleast that way your nurse knows how you are feeling, so don't ever worry about that.
    Now, i inject Methotrexate too, I'm on 25ml and have been on it injected form for about 10 months now, with no problems :D and more importantly NO tummy upsets or sickness which I used to be plagued with on the Mtx tablets.

    I had difficulty in reading your post (time for an eye test methinks!) but I too am on injected meth and its a doddle. I used to use my stomach area (there are fewer nerves in that area) but I now have switched to the upper thigh (that leaves the tummy free for the humira injections I do). It has to be the UPPER thigh, you have more flesh there, and I do it sitting down as the muscles are not under tension. Yes, there can be a sting or two if I get too close to a nerve but that's all. Good luck, I hope the injected stuff helps - the liquid is stronger than the tablets (no digestion involved, you see) so you can end up with a smaller dose which is a little more effective.     So glad your appointment went well and they were understanding of your predicament.

    I think we cry because we have a moment to ourselves at these appointments, someone who cares and is prepared to listen, and we get some very direct questioning. At home we are too focused on everybody else's needs.

    Injected Meth didn't work for me but anti sickness pills did. So it may be the other way round for you :D Hope so.

    I was on meth injections for my bowel disease but my husbands a nurse so after much persuation he did them for me. To be honest they can smart a little but its not too bad and not for long. Hope they work for you and I like the pink text!

    Glad your appointment went well and that they gave you an injection, I hope that kicks in soon.
    Good luck with the meth injections, hopefully they will be far better for you than the tablet form.
