Can't get hold of Rheumy Nurse

Hi all,

I left a message on Sunday or Monday I think about having a fever and taking Sulfasalazine. Your advice was to contact the Rheumy nurse. I then tried her two telephone numbers and today have tried her email.

I have now left so many messages I hope that she does contact me.

My breathing is getting worse and I still can't kick this fever.

I have even left messages with the secretaries, They promise that she will phone tomorrow! I hope she does.

    It was Sunday that you posted your original thread, Margaret, so, if you rang your helpline immediately, it wouldn't have been picked up until Monday and I think they usually aim to reply within 48 hours which would be today.

    When is/was your sulph due?

    If your breathing is getting worrying then you should see your GP and not wait for rheumatology to get back to you. They can decide about the sulph but your GP can decide if you need treatment for your breathing.
    If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

    Agree with sw if its bad go to the gp they will be able to contact the. Rheumy dept direct and speak to a consultant or registrar for advice regards the sulph.

    I agree with the others - if your breathing is bad you should contact your GP and if you can't do thet you could always ring NHS direct

    Hi SW,

    The breathing is a little better. Thank you.

    However, still waiting for the Rheumy nurse to contact me. Might give her a ring this pm. if she doesn't get in contact by then. The doctors should also have my blood results from Monday back by now, so if no news from Rheumy nurse may contact GP again.

    Still have a fever though!

    She rang! But I forgot to ask an important question...

    Now I need to get better, so I can restart the Sulfa for a third time in five weeks.

    I am never taking that drug again, it was pure evil! gave me awful headaches and severe constipation. was horrific.
    I dont even have a rheummy nurse, they wouldnt give me one!
