Well just back from my session, and boy does my leg ache.I forgot I had so many muscles
Linda was really nice ,put me through the usual exercises that ive already been doing and then when I explained that I veer to the left and need indicators when walking, she showed me how to walk with small steps on right leg and push left leg out . Its hard work this trying to learn to walk again lol.She asked me to do squats hanging onto the bed, I looked at her as if I can't do them, my knees won't bend surprisingly they were quite easy. Then she took me to the stairs, now going up was no problem as I've been practising this one at home as well but when it came to come back down them..... HELP !!! I couldn't work out how to bend my right knee and put left left leg on next step..She was really patient and explained everything as we went along.
She did say its going to take a while to master walking and stairs because I've never done it since nov.2011 and all my muscles have gone from my right thigh and round my hips, bum area ,so hopefully with my exercise plan I will win.
My rom is 95 and she wants to see me in a fortnight. Really enjoyed the physio today and its the 1st time out myself ,got the bus door to door.

That sounds very positive, Eileen. What a difference from last time when you had no physio  These girls (and guys) know their stuff. I hope it keeps going well for you.

So pleased for you Eileen. Sounds like you and Linda will make a good team and let's just hope that she is not going anywhere in the near future so that you and her can build up this "working" relationship well.

So happy that you persevered with contacting the physio department as it is your right to have some help in this way post op. Especially you, as you are special :) and had to go through a botch job the first time round, through no fault of your own.

Enjoy the rest of your day,

    Elna x

    Hi Eileen.
Really pleased today went well, Hope you can see Linda every visit, I think it's much better to have the same person, amazed you find squats easy, I find them quite tough, still being 6ft tall means it's a long way down for me, enjoy the rest of the day, I was hoping to get into the garden this afternoon, but after getting back from shopping feeling quite tired, guess I may have been pushing it a bit.So it's resting on the sofa for me.
Best wishes and take care Barry.

Glad you have got the physio now and Linda sounds like a lovely person to be helping you in your recovery...When I went for physio my dad took me and I got the woman he said was like a sargeant major when he had his knee done, I thought oh no she will be horrid to me...She wasn't, was really lovely, she felt for me at my age etc and in the end her and dad became a team, her telling him to keep tabs on me to keep up my physio at home, lol....I have never honestly tried squats, couldn't imagine doing them even now....The stairs I am also not used to as live in a bungalow and so not used to them, I try them occasionally at the leisure centre but my knee is so not used to them and complains like mad!
It will take a while as your muscles need to retrain themselves back into working order again...I am sure that the progress may surprise you and how far you can go....
All sounding well and bet you can't wait till a fortnight's time!

I was surprised when she asked me to do squats, I thought no chance. Surprised myself when she showed me how. Feels funny being able to kinda bend this knee. tried coming down stairs at home... a no no a lot steeper than phtsio ones... either that or my legs have shrunk

Gosh even now the thought of squats makes me apprehensive and don't think I could do them. The stairs are tricky I think you'd have to go up and down them religiously so many times a day to master them...Maybe we should stop taking lifts and climb those stairs (groan)...Sure your legs havent shrunk...

Update folks, My exercise plan is going great, doing it 2-3 times a day. I feel my leg is getting stronger every day and I'm not veering to the left when walking so much either.I'm even managing to come downstairs bending knee still with aid of banister and crutch but even that's getting easier. I'm well chuffed this time

That's great news, keep at it, I am starting at local gym on Mon, just going to use their bike for 10mins three times a week, just have to pay £25 per month no contract, hopefully after first month, I will be able to get out onto the road.
    Have a great weekend.

:D Three cheers for our lovely Eileen. Going great guns this time around cos the op went well and you have a good physio. Linda will not recognise you in two weeks when you dance in for your appointment and jump on that exercise bike in the corner of the room.

Such positive news from you, made my day!

    Hugs
