Oh no! I have to say that that is why I waited a month or so before having booze on top of the ami - but then hindsight is a wonderful thing! I found that I could drink once I was used to the ami but I really didn't fancy trying it in the early days.

Now, as far as increasing your dose goes - if you aren't getting relief from the dose you are on then probably do as the Dr says. But steer clear of the booze for a couple of weeks at least! Again, I am not a Dr so can't really advise. So maybe clear with a friendly pharmacist? My pharmacist friend has a friend on a high ami dose who DRINKS - if you know what I mean. We are talking bottles of white rum etc. I always found that I couldn't drink anywhere near my normal amount when I was on the ami without feeling rough/falling asleep very early. So if two glasses of wine is your "normal" perhaps halve it next time? Of course, the GP would probably tell you not to drink at all, but where is the fun in that?!!

    Thanks Frogmella :D

I've decided to increase the dose tonight and be teetotal for a while at least. If I do have a drink in future I shan't take my dose that night.

I think I would have done the same but at least you know now. I think I would wait a while and then, try one glass of wine. Glad you are ok today.

Hope you had a good night sleep last night Linda. See how you get on with 20mg before you increase again and hopefully you'll get the relief you need long before you get to 100mg.

I did sleep well, Ritwren, but a headache started at 7:45 (which is a big improvement from them starting at 4:00 a.m. ) so I got up at 8:00. Things seem to be moving in the right direction. :)

    Thanks Frogmella.

I also don't plan to have alcohol until a social event comes up ......like my birthday (soon). Then I shan't take Amitrip the day before nor the day of imbibing and I shall stick to one glass of white wine (though I'm not saying how large the glass will be  ).

    Oh legs

I am so sorry l didn't see this before

I take 25mg at night and never drink on it (I have the night off it if I have to drink - there are times  )

My leaflet says not to drink on it at all l think. I am sure I looked it up on a symptom checker website once and it worried the life out of me.

My GP says it is a good migraine 'preventer' too. I take it for my arthritis really but if it kills two birds eh?

    Love

Don't apologise Toni, you can't have eyes everywhere.

There are a lot of us on Amitrip, it's like a club almost. :D

I do like the fact I sleep better with it.

Talking about sleep it's time for my bed.

    Night, night. :D

    To anyone still interested,

A headache woke me at 7:00 this morning, quite bad so I had to get out of my pit and go downstairs. :( So I spoke too soon and I'm not out of the woods yet

It can take some time to work, Legs. And to fiddle with the dose to get that right too. I'm afraid it's another of those things where we need rather a lot of patience. I'd lend you some but I am rather short on it!!! Hope you get it right soon though. xx

I read that wrong Frogmella and I've been sitting by my letterbox waiting for them to arrive :lol::lol:

Seriously Doc gave me plenty so I shall be alright till I'm taking 10 tablets a night

After what you've just said I don't think I'll higher the dose next week because I want to give 20mg chance to work first. I'm a bit reluctant to get hooked on a huge dose. Baby steps for me I think.

Off to get tea ready now :D Laters.

Fingers crossed Legs it will work.

Charley takes pitzotifen as a migraine preveneter too and tried propranolol too so yes it is trial and error. Like you say i woudl give it a couple of weeks at the new dose too.

    love and luck :D

    Hi Toni,

Woke with headache at 6:45 a.m. but managed to stay in bed till 7:30 when it forced me out.

I shall have to be a patient patient methinks

(You don't realise how many drugs there are for migraines till you see what others take. Do I remember correctly that Charley had a really bad spell with migraines which resulted in a hospital visit?)

Looks as if it's starting to work for you if you have had a couple of headache free days. Hopefully, it won't be much longer before you are headache free.
The first two nights I took them, I slept solidly for 9 1/2 hours then it has been a mixture for the last 2 weeks - some nights I slept right through, others I woke up a couple of times or woke up early. Tonight, I am sat in bed at past midnight rocking along to David Bowie and now an 80s disco.
    Voulez-vous couchez avec moi? La-la-la-la-la.
Boogie nights ah ah ah ah aaaaaaaa.

Gee whiz Applerose that's some good tunes we're dancing to! :D:D:D

I had a full night's sleep last night which is rare for me so that must be the Amitrip. :)

Slight headache at 7:00 this morning but I was able to stay in bed as it wasn't a bad one and didn't need any paracetamol to help get rid when I did get up. It hovered for an hour before disappearing. :D

Must go my little grandson is due to arrive anytime now.

Had a lovely afternoon thanks, though Mr Legs and I are glad of the rest today :D He crawls at a rate of knots, thinks drawers are very interesting as they open when you pull them  and likes to share his food with the high chair/carpet and anything in the vicinity  and that's just Mr Legs :lol:

Headache this morning again but the difference now is that my headaches disappear without medication after about an hour, which is a big bonus. :D

That is a big bonus LL and sounds very managable. Good to hear the visit went well. I have all mine arriving later today.
