Yes, it does feel good getting jobs done Barbara. Did you get any gardening done today? Or just the soil moved? That'd be enough for one day I should think. Coughs do seem to hang around, don't they? Hope you don't feel ill with it.

Mig, hope your deliveries arrived ok. That was very expensive for the internet. Not surprised you didn't want to pay that.

Hello Joan. Hope you are ok.

Another lovely day here today. Sat out in the garden at work for lunch again. It's raining now though. Was going to do an online shop but it's bedtime now so I'll have to do it later.

Joan, you are lucky having nearby shops. We have a tiny corner shop which doesn't have much and is expensive. Our High Street has a tiny S**nsb*rys which doesn't have much and is a little expensive. Hope you are well.

Barbara, I've never tried cheesy chips but they do sound tasty. You'll have to ask for some soil back again.

Got the bus to visit a friend and called in to T*sc* while I was there to get bread. Started filling my trolley and had to put it all back when I remembered I'm supposed to be ordering online. I'll get myself a cuppa then go and do it now before I forget.

Hello applerose, mig, barbara, joan, and everyone, hope all are feeling reasonably well.

Mig your cruise sounds wonderful. How poignant to visit those WW1 sites. And I love Alfie Boe, you wouldn't believe that he used to live on the streets before he made his name.

Barbara, I hope your son's scan results come back soon.

Our next door neighbour has been promising to clear his gutters out for 2 years. It's very annoying as when it rains all the water runs down to our bit and drips everywhere. He finally got round to doing it today. and said that if it still leaks, to get some silicon sealant and he will fix it for us. I thought yeah, but what year would that be in then?? OH can't climb ladders or he would do it himself. As well as arthritis, three discs in his lower spine are crumbling so he is banned from doing that type of job.

Oh well, the rain is supposed to be back tomorrow, so we will soon find out if the gutters need more treatment.

Kath my OH cleaned out a neighbours gutters and brought all the rubbish home. I was not amused. He did dump it (the local dump not just any place) on my insistance.

Barbara I have to think the delay for your Son is a good sign as they are not picking up anything that needs immediate treatment.

Bubbles hasn't been on for a while now Barbara. I also hope her Mum is recovering.

I've had a good few days and hoping it continues. Tired but getting sleep in the day.

    E xx

Respite day. Managed a small sleep this morning but then had to get up and go for one of my rare shopping trips to W**tr*s* which I love because I can buy all the things I like, plus treats for the children and even flowers (peonies today)and birthday cake, for my Son this time. He will be 16 on Friday. I bought Mario Kart 8 this week for them all to share but they ave already opened it.

Had shrimps on toast when I got home.

Mig we are intending to go to Leeds castle,Hever castle and Bodium castle all round Kent area. Inland Kent is very beautiful too.

Barbara It would be nice if they could put his mind at rest poor chap.

Well I'm going to have a quick tidy up before Son gets home,

Hello, finally.. wrote half a post last night on the laptop and the power adaptor, which is playing up (having been replaced not long ago) decided to cut out dead on me so that was that.

Nice to get in for a sit down. Bit of an annoying day, only trivia, late buses etc. Have skimmed back over & I know no-one minds if you get out of the flow of the thread but I've picked up the gist.

Barbara hope the inhaler does the trick to the horrid cough & sorry your OH won't go to the docs, (not that I can blame him mind you but still), & that your son's docs are humming & hawing, hope they get back to him now he's chased them up.

Got some of my painting done, so it's coming on.. & looks cleaner.. you reminded me of the Norman Wisdom & Bruce Forsyth wallpapering sketch too barbara, saw it first on tv a long while back & I expect it's on the net.. dear old Norman :) he was brilliant. I won't be tackling the hall etc anytime soon, it's just at the thinking stage, so I won't be hanging off any rickety ladders myself, thanks Toni. :)

Rained torrents yesterday and was as 'black as your hat' as my mother would say, so I was lucky it let up today for me to go for bloods. Better not comment on gutters mine need doing so in this instance I am one of those bad neighbours you've got.

Glad you got some shopping done TK, I used to love W**t**e too but don't have one now.. used to like a good browse round their stuff. Glad you got all the things you wanted - ooh lovely peonies :D - and a cake - a very big Happy Birthday to your son for tomorrow. :)

Picked up a few nice things in town anyway, fruit seemed to be reasonable today so got some cherries, blueberries & apricots, and some nice bread & cheese, and biscuits for the tin. Unlike mig I don't cook much (as I expect I've said) so you won't be surprised I don't make nice things to freeze either, not even frozen soup. Maybe when I get a new cooker I will become inspired to do more. Hope you got all the online shopping you wanted applerose even if you did do half a shop in person. The checkout girl today started to put the next person's shopping through after mine, it was only when I noticed a 2nd pack of tomatoes coming along that I noticed. We had to stop & sort it out.

Joan thanks for your good wishes I will make a point of slowing down over the weekend now as I don't have anything vital to do. :) Wish we had some handy shops here like yours or at least a Post Office, I'm still so cross they took ours away.

Oh the funny thing is the mousetrap finally turned up in the post just as I was about to let them know I hadn't had it. No mouse now & the neighbours have 'belled' the cat so with a bit of luck the trap won't get used.

Best to everybody & hope marrianne & bubbles are ok, xx

Kath, hope the gutters are coping with the rain now.

Elizabeth, hope you are still feeling better and getting your sleep.

Toady, I find the same. If I do something extra, everything runs well behind. Seems to take days to catch up.

Mig, I love cheesy mash. Mmmm and cottage pie and spagbol.

Joan, cheese patato with onion? Sounds yummy. Will have to try it.

Barbara, hope the inhaler is helping with your cough. If you are having problems, there is a tube-type thing, called a spacer, you can get from your GP which fits on to the inhaler. You then squirt the inhaler in to it and you can just breathe normally from the tube. How long will it take to get your x-ray results back?

Elizabeth, glad you enjoyed your shopping trip. Sounds as if you bought lots of nice things. Happy birthday to your son for tomorrow.

Didn't get in here last night. In the middle of the afternoon, I was feeling a bit peckish so I got up to go and get a snack. Decided to go to the toilet first. While I was upstairs, I decided to move the chest of drawers and tv unit in the bedroom so I could start painting the walls. Then decided, as I was there, I might as well do a little bit of painting. Before I knew it, it was nearly 8pm and I hadn't had my dinner. After dinner, I had to clear everything I'd emptied out of the drawers on to the bed so ended up going straight to bed. Bedroom's a mess but at least, I got the first coat on 2 walls. Been in a lot of pain today but things need to get done, don't they?

Watching Channel 4's Comedy Gala. It's quite good and Alan Carr is popping up in a lot of the adverts.

Just spotted you there Toady. There must have been a lot of rain here too last night. There were rivers running down both sides of the road. i was rather worried walking to work in case a car drove through and I got half drowned. I always put up one of the 'next' signs at the end of my shopping so the next person knows that's the end of my shopping. Some people think the person behind should do it but I think they don't always know you've finished putting things on the conveyor belt. Good to hear you are now mouseless.

Good to hear he has finally got a date for his op Barbara.

Your poor Dad being blown up in a tank and by the sounds of things very lucky to survive. My Dad was in the RAF as an air gunner but you know I hardly ever spoke to him about it, something I really regret.

Son is 16 today and had his exam this morning. I'm waiting for the relatives to visit and hopefully Charlie as she said she'd come for the weekend for his birthday but not sure if that meant Friday or Saturday.

Take care all. I've been sitting in the sun while I can but I don't think it will help with the itching.

Hi all :) quieter day today & it feel like Saturday so with a bit of luck that means I'll feel I've got an extra day tomorrow.

Barbara that is good but scary news for your son, even if he is taking it in his stride. I have everything crossed for you both. I hope your cough is improving even if it's a little, will be good if the inhaler can at least start poking it in the right direction. That's a lovely shop you have by the sound of it. :) There will be a lot of memories coming to the surface with the current events to mark the 70 years.. Always emotional especially to see and hear the veterans being interviewed and their recollections. People have such a lot to be grateful for but very sadly they are not for the most part, such a short time after in real terms, but there will be less & less thought given to what was done. In addition, war is so difficult to hold a simple viewpoint on, so many elements & arguments for/against.

Happy Birthday again to your son TK & hope all's going well, & that various family visits work out & aren't too tiring.

Applerose you seem to be living my life  as you described your going off track & getting late with meals etc is exactly how I go on here. Meals & eating sensibly should be a priority but I begrudge the time which is really bad, it comes of being permanently behind & giving in to the instinct to 'just get on' & catch up. Still you got some painting done :) & hopefully not paying too much today. I think the conveyor belt divider thing was there alright at one point so either the lady behind removed it too soon or some things crept round the side.

Hello joan & anyone reading :)
