Christine does she have to have it shaved rather than cut short?
I have 3 tables and was keeping them all for the girls when they get their first home. I have my Walton's oak table which can be extended to fit 12 seats, its in the kitchen but full of toys and paper,my old pine (currently being used as a dumping place for scooter bits) and a habitat oak table. The intention is to use the kitchen table but the kids still run off ad eat upstairs.
We didn't have much lightening Barbara, definitely nothing like you had to deal with. Why was your OH cross about the candles?
Glad your Son is still being cared for but shame he is so bored. I loved the rest and the company when I had my hip done but blokes aren't into chatting are they?
There are 3 football matches on tonight though!
Toady my hair is darker now as I think it suits me as I get older. Only prob is hairdresser is a bit rude at times IMO but as she only lives over the road it is handy. She was telling me about a mutual acquaintance who has arthritis but 'doesn't let it stop her doing anything'. plus she thought my D. doing her radio show degree was a joke, like a waste of money. D. will need to do research for material for shows, source interviews that sort of thing, its not just playing records!!!!
For some reason I am awake today. I took my humira injection yesterday so maybe it has helped?
Hope everyone is well. Joan take care in this heat. If Toni pops in make her put her feet up.

love it
Glad of a laugh today, generally irritable on account of wasting the best part of 5 hours (yes 5) one way & another waiting for hah delivery, & other general annoyances too tedious & trivial to mention. Normal service will be resumed shortly but for now I am tetchy.
However I have come back from town with a very nice coffee cake which is making up for a lot (help 'selves).
Barbara I hope you got the call, if indeed he is coming out today for definite, not surprised he is bored & itching to be out - that's a good sign in itself.Hope your e**y stuff picks up a bit towards the end time, not that it will be uppermost in your priorities atm but it's a distraction, isn't it.
Good luck to your niece applerose, what beautiful hair (I speak as someone who had a horrid short bob & fringe as a child), hope she reaches & tops her target. Lovely to be able to donate it for the purpose of wigmaking as well as raising funds. Hope you're having a good day yourself.
What a tactless hairdresser/friend TK! Mind you I always say I couldn't care less who cuts my hair if they can cut it well, but being disparaging about your daughter is a bit much, and the good old friend-with-arthritis story.. grr. Glad your humira helpeddo you think you generally do notice a difference the day after..?
Hope joan, marrianne etc are well & will see you all at some future pot-of-tea time.. definitely has reached the warm enough for me point today, so off to put on cotton sheets, (prob go chilly again after).0 -
Hi lovely girls ,read back quite quickly ,was worried about Barbara s son but things seem ok Christines eyes to ..........oh what lovely pictures of Christines niece as Elizabeth said cutting short her beautiful hair is a good option Toady you and the bird
well you are just like me ALL GODS creatures matter and thats that been remiss with everything I hope Kath Joan Bubbles Toni and Lucy are going to have a good weekend today has been beautiful but I havent been out at all shoulder needs steroid injection but I am very happy because on Monday I get my first biologic at the hospital ,it all seemed to come together after Barbara got her Buddas for the garden ,so thinking about you all Marrianne xx

Oh Mig looking for you to ,did you have a good holiday break ,I have to be honest here not had a holiday for at least 20 years .. its this clinging to all the things I know if I could run skip do cartwheels on the beach and not have this real fear of the unknown I would love to get out of my comfort zone ,I am in bed at the latest 6/30 pm unless there is a party or the family are staying and I am up with the lark 5/30 am sometimes if I am really tired 8 AM .. the cats are rescue so wouldnt take kindly to a cattery but oh sometimes I THINK HOW WONDERFUL XX0
-
Baarbara, yes my niece is very brave. She has raised about £300 over the last year or so by making and selling things at the school fairs. They allowed her to give the money to the hospital rather than to the school. Thank you so much for offering to sponsor her. Glad to hear you are to pick your son up today.
Elizabeth, my niece is having her hair cut to a number 3 (whatever that means) so she isn't totally bald and it will have grown a bit before she goes back to school in September. it sounds as if your hairdresser is very rude. In that sort of profession, even if you think it, you don't say it. is she only young? Glad you're feeling ok. Hope it keeps up over the weekend.
Toady, it is so annoying waiting for deliveries. maybe the heat isn't helping. My niece does have lovely hair. It's taken her a few years to grow it so long. Hope you managed to get your cotton sheets on.
Marrianne, hope it's not long till you get your steroid injection and that the biologic does it's stuff for your.
Came downstairs this morning to find a small moth in the kitchen sink upside down so it's wings were stuck. I managed to flick it over and it crawled on to my hand. I put it on the windowsill thinking it would stay there till it's wings dried. But no, it crawled off the windowsill but I managed to catch it. Decided to put it outside. I opened the back door and it fluttered on to the path. The second it landed, my blackbird also landed, shot forward and grabbed the moth in his beak then stood looking at me as if to say, 'Is that all I'm getting, one measly moth.' He then ran over to his baby, which is now as big as him, and pushed the moth in it's mouth. he then ran back and almost ran in to the house looking for more food. I just stood there with my mouth open. :shock:Christine0 -
Oh CHRISTINE!!!!!!!!!!!
Poor poor you trying to save the moth - didn't that backfire. Tis nature sadlyYou did your best.
You know I think your niece is an absolute star doing that to her hair. It's a very similar in length to what Lucy's was. Bless her heart. I think kindness must run in the family
Barbara I hope your son is ok???? :? Boring it is in hospital for definite ::) When do your eb*y items finish?? Let's hope Bubbles is ok.
Hello Joan I hope you and Sue and Peppa are enjoying the weather
Toady I wish I had had a sandwich they would have gone down very well
Elizabeth I think your hairdresser is a bit too opinionated for her own good  Blokes are not into chatting I agree - when Lucy was in hospital the girls bay was full of laughter and the boys.....silence
Marrianne - I hope YOU have a great weekend tooI too am totally soft about animals.
Don't forget Robins learn to fly OFF the GROUND incase it's one of those anyone finds. They're cute but not much like their parents

I had to laugh at the boys bay being silent while the girls is full of laughter. Honestly we never stopped talking and I was in for 7 days. Glad Barbara's Son is safely home even if he didn't want any fuss. Stick him in front of the TV Barbara, he'll be happy there. I'm sure deep down he was very worried though but if he's anything like my OH (and my Ex husband) he'll hate hospitals and want to be in his familiar surroundings.
Christine a grade 3 is short. It will be cut off with the clippers. But it will grow back soon enough. Yes my hairdresser is opinionated, that's the word Toni, I try to avoid a lot of talk with her, especially about health and autism (no such thing in her book)! No she's a few years younger than me Christine so should know better! I can just imagine her telling everybody and laughing about the degree in 'radioshows' and what a cop-out it all is. Oh well next time I get my hair done I might have a bit more info as I was so taken aback by her comments I couldn't reply.
Tis raining today but quite a relief as it has been so hot lately. OH has just hung the washing out too.
Sometimes the humira works quickly, sometimes it knocks me out. I never quite know what it will do to me. I just had a really good day instead of the usual worn out, mushy brain.
Marianne it is difficult to get out of your comfort zone. I'm the same although I feel so guilty for the children as I'm sure they need to get out more. One reason I want to move and get a house more in the countryside so the greenery is right on the doorstep. I've not been to London for about 10 years even though the tube is just round the corner, fear of stumbling about, holding people up on the stairs etc.
HAH have been very naughty lately Toady and know how you feel. Added to the other annoying things that made you feel tetchy it wasn't too good a day for you. I'm sure the coffee cake treat helped.
I'm going to sign off now. Boys are still asleep so have a bit of quiet me time to enjoy.
Take care all. Night out and football for me tonight.

Daughter is going to the summer good food show tomorrow ,hope she brings treats back. Mig0 -
Hello all

Mig thanks for the hugs I would pass them on but hes a bloke....good on your daughter I love food fairs but its a couple of years now since we got to one
Joan I am glad the exercises are helping..its good that you are doing them I get a bit lazy with physio..
I think we are in for more thunder it has gone very black here..now the dinning room table will come in that is if I can get under it
See you all later xxxxxLove

Hi Tony, just read you and Lucy didn't make it to the fun day. Hope tomorrow is better. I think boys/men don't like to do illness. Maybe that's why they are quiet. I think girls are more likely to get on with life. I once phoned the RSPB about a baby bird I'd found on the ground. I was told it would probably be fine and just to let nature take it's course whichever way it went.
Bet your son is really pleased to be home Barbara. It'll be nice for him to get a bit of pampering from his daughters even though he says he doesn't like fuss. I'm like you. More surfaces = more places to put things. The weather here was just right for gardening but I was at dad's. When I got home, it was too hot. I managed to repot 2 plants and that was it. No sign of rain ....... yet.
Elizabeth, I know what you mean about not having an answer for your hairdresser. Now you've had time to think, you'll be ready for her next time. I'm sure other people will have the same experience of her so probably not take much notice of what she says. Oh, you've mentioned hanging washing out. My washer just finished a few minutes ago so I'd better get things hung out or they'll be left in the washer all night. Hope you enjoyed your me-time. have a great night out.
Glad you are managing the exercises alright Joan.
Mig, ask your daughter to bring something tasty back for us please? Hope she enjoys the show.
Must dash. I think there's a cat after my blackbird. I can hear him shouting.Christine0 -
False alarm. There was no cat. Baby bird was quite happy in my garden and dad was shouting on top of the roof opposite. It did get me up to hang some washing out though.Christine0
-
Aren't baby birds lovely Christine
Such a shame they have such a high mortality rate though
Elizabeth forewarned is forearmed!!! The hairdresser needs some carefully planned out replies - and you might be the very woman to give them
I bet your 7 days in hospital passed faster than male persons 2 days. Laughter is the best medicine isn't it?Lucy asked the male nurse what the boys talk about and he said (Scottish accent here) " You don't want te know Lucy, bowels!"
Barbara I think it's really sweet of the girls to look after their Dad like thatI bet he secretly loves it too and BTW I also have to give Lucy sneaky hugs  I hope your items surprise you and sell alright. seriously even if you only get 99p they are out of your house!!!
Mig I am so sad....every year I go to the gardener's world show (which houses the good food show too), but this year I can'tI hope your daughter comes home with lovely goodies
Hi Joan I am so glad your exercises are going ok and really hope they help you. Weekend is ok today the weather is set to be better I think
Right.....sleeves up!!!tha's better
aquick mop
then.....the loos :?
love to you all and those I haven't seen
Toni xxx0 -
Toni put your feet up. Bowels...surely not, surely its X box, PS games and football they talk about, maybe even girls get a mention.
I had a lovely evening. Lucy kept in touch by text and I managed 3 hours of conversation and a bottle of cider and 1 glass of Baileys.
Unfortunately today OH and I have had a row. He's been asked yet again to take family out on 2 nights but they need to use my motability car. I'm sure motability do not want it used for and by other people but it is one of those grey areas. I don't want to risk losing it if it breaks any rules. But OH is angry with me.
So today is already ruined.
Toni you can go next year when everything is settled.
Love to you all

Afternoon all
Toni these young ones don't seem to be into hugs..mind neither wre we..my mum and dad loved us but never gave cuddles I make sure I gave them all hugs..yes I am sure daddy is glad to have them there..they are both decent cooks..he taught them not me...
I do hope that this coming week is easier on you and Lucy..
Elizabeth you stick to your guns..another of my late mums sayings..good for you I do love baileys and cider..but they dont like me anymore..hope you make up with hubby...
Christine we have backbirds in the tree at the back and pigeons in another tree and goodness knows what else..the trouble is the magpies they are constantly after the young..and like you say you can hear the birds making a noise...they tell me when the cats are around...
Your niece deserves every penny..let us know how she gets on
Today we are having a lazy day, my GDs ridding boots..went for wait for it £2.70.plus postage.. oh well like Toni says they are out the house...
Will see you all later...xxxxxLove

That is the trouble with ebay but then again somebody is well pleased at getting riding boots for a couple of quid. I have got bags and bags of clothing and a box of good quality shoes including 3 pairs of boots that have only been worn on a couple of occasions. I really must do something with them.

Hello all. Well Friday 13th didn't get any better, & wound up with a big spider in the lounge in the evening. Lost sight of it & had to give up & go to bed. No cake for me.
Anyway there's a part 2, so if you don't like spiders, look away now..
Yesterday I pulled out half the furniture & tidied up anything on the floor (to make less spider hiding places), then gingerly pulled out the things from the half 'he' was last seen in. No sign. Long gone I thought or 'somewhere else' by now.. ugh. Anyway I left the furniture well out so there was clearance all round and.. at half 1 in the morning.. he reappeared.capering out from under the cupboard he was last seen near. So had been there all day and never moved when I was shoving it around the place. Ugh again..
Right, I'm not wasting a second chance I thinks, so had one go at catching him in something & missed  .. he bolted for the sofa. I pulled it out, & flipped up the throw from the back, and he ran down the back cushions of the sofa, over the seat, and off onto the floor again.I repeated the flipping up, from the front, and he was obviously hanging onto the throw tassels again (shudder) and again ran down the seat back but this time I was ready for him. Blue plastic wastepaper basket over him - gotcha.
Unfortunately then it took me about half an hour to do the 'bit of cardboard underneath' thing, as the bin was sinking into the cushions, & I was terrified I'd lift the bin that fraction too much & he'd escape. Got to bed about half 2. I'm tired out and my nerves are shot.
But my room is my own again.
By the way do you think of all spiders as 'he'?
Your poor moth applerose.I do wish they wouldn't kamikaze into any bit of water, even a slightly damp cup on the drainer, anything. A sad ending but purely from a narrative point, you did make a good tale of it... and I suppose it went to keep a baby blackbird alive, which is the point of life cycles etc, so they reckon, it's just too brutal for me.
Marrianne, yes indeed, all creatures are to be respected, but Nature is one big battleground isn't it. Sigh. Glad no-one was after your blackbird, anyway, applerose. They do squawk up don't they.
Toni I will cut you a sandwich to order whenever& the minute Lucy can fancy one, just name your filling. Thank you for the robin info, I didn't know that either. Tiddles has 'lost' his bell  (much good it did) in fact I reckon there's probably a cat 'fixer' somewhere, with a shady lockup, that 'sorts' cat collars.. for a price.. a sort of Phil Mitchell of the cat world.
Barbara glad your son is doing okwhen do they want to see him again..? Sorry about your auction, shame not to get a bit more. Sometimes I start low in the hope of getting bidded higher but it's a risk isn't it.
Hope your day is going a bit better TK.. & tensions settle.. and you can enjoy the football. I haven't had a holiday for years either, and like you wish I was on the doorstep of 'something', but that would have taken forward planning and mine was obviously not up to much. But I'm thankful I'm not in a built-up area either. I always think I'll have an answer ready for tricky situations next time but then the next time is never exactly the same & I don't seem to do any better.
Going to have a pot of tea and that piece of cake, & a quiet rest of day I hope. love to all xx0 -
Daughters back from the food show with the usual freebies they hand out plus sweets and a large pesto and walnut loaf ,left some for people to try along with some ratatouille ,the bread lovely soaked in the ratatouille juices. Mig0

Hello to all. Elbow and wrist too painful for me to type quickly so will keep it short or I'll be here all night.
Barbara I'm glad your son's home, hope he recovers well.
I've been busy trying to set up a new browser. I did use G**gle Ch**me, but got a bit fed up of it so set up Mo**lla Sea*onkey, but now changed to Fire**x. I've a feeling I won't stick to it.
Don't get me going on birds. A load of starlings came down this afternoon and took practically all the food we'd put out. A poor little sparrow watched pitifully, but spotted another source of food so flew over to it. As soon as the starlings noticed him/her, they chased him off and gobbled all that too. :x Don't like starlings, they are so messy.
Mm mig, walnut loaf.
Toady, sorry, but I had to laugh at your spidery escapades.
Dermatology appointment on Wednesday morning. I'm dreading them telling me they can't find a cause for my itching as that will mean no treatment and no relief for me. My calves look like the Nasca Plain, and as well as itchy, they are sore."Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea." Robert A Heinlein

Thanks for popping in to see us Toni and for cleaning up again. We must try harder. Sorry you've missed the Gardeners World show. There's always next year.
Elizabeth, glad you had a good evening and a nice drink. I like a Baileys. Sorry you've had a falling out with your OH. Hope you make up quickly. I've got bags of clothes too. I end up taking them to the charity shop to get them out of the way.
Barbara, as well as blackbirds, I have dunnocks coming in for food. Not sure where they're nesting though. I was kneeling near the fence today, weeding, and the blackbird kept landing noisily on the fence making me jump. Then he'd fly past me, just touching the top of my head and on to the grass. He did it quite a few times. Wonder if he was wanting his dinner. My sister told me that my niece had wanted to collect £500 but already has £700 so she's going for £1000 now. Only 4 weeks to go. Only £2.70 for the boots? It's better than nothing if they weren't being used.
Oh Toady, what a palaver with the spider. I don't mind them. I often see one wandering about but just leave it. I do clean up any webs I see to discourage them from moving the whole family in.Yes, it's funny but I do think of them all as being he even if they're on a web with babies.
Mig, that all sounds delicious. I'll try a little of the bread and ratatouille.
Kath, sorry your elbow and wrist are painful. Hope it's better tomorrow. I'm using GC at the moment. Seems ok. I've had FF before but only changed because my sil works in computers and he tells me which one he thinks is best. I'm with you re the starlings. I stand at the door when I put food out as I know they won't stay if the see me. The blackbirds come right up to me and the dunnocks are getting used to me now so they stay. I've got my fingers crossed for you for Wednesday. I really hope they've got an answer for you.Christine0 -
Morning all
Oh busy in here right what can I remember ..
Toady have you tried the spider spray I have seen it in leaflet somewhere but wounder if it works...mind you we would need a few bottles to do the whole house..yeah the ebay never mind my GD made £2.50 before they take there fees..poor you with the bin..did I tell you of the time I caught a wasp in a glass and put a CD over it ..forgetting about the hole in the middle
