Sorry can't really help. I was initially referred to a physio and when that was not effective she wrote to my GP recommending that I have an MRI and as a result of that I was referred to a specialist.
He did not say you will not be storm tossed, you will not be sore distressed, you will not be work weary. He said you will not be overcome.

I presume, as yours is osteo, that the consultant will be an orthopaedic surgeon though it's possible that it will be a rheumatologist making sure you don't have an auto-immune form of arthritis. Either way, there is no saying how long it will be before you get an appointment.

I've read before on here of orthopaedic consultants first wanting their patients to have physio. I don't quite understand why even though I know I'd personally be in a bad way without my daily exercises.

I remember you said, in a previous thread, that you couldn't take codeine-based pain relief because of your job. It might be that you could take one of the milder ones. I take the mildest co-codamol and they don't make me drowsy unless I'm very tired to start off with.
If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

    Hi & welcome,

I was referred directly to a Rheumy too!! I've never once been sent for physio relating to my Psoriatic or Osteo Arthritis .... I've referred myself wen I need help with something specific tho :)

I think different areas do things so many different ways it's really hard to judge wot they're playing at!! I hope ure sent on to see a Rheumy asap!!
