Got my hair washed & attempted to fight the boxes in the 'dining' room back a bit further.. not sure you can tell I'm getting anywhere so far but I must be, in theory..

Thanks for your good wish TK, too many appts for you too I see.. :? hope the BP settles, it does vary when you have it done at the surgery. Glad you got some 'things' done as well. Hope the respite time helps, maybe you will get on top of the tax situation, nice to tick something off if poss.

Barbara it has been nice today.. wind a bit huffly, but warm & sunny.. re the buddleia, mine self-seeded & I had no idea they grow so quickly.. so if you got another one it would be up & off in no time. Even having been pruned they take off again the next year, mine's over 6 ft - too big for where it is really, and another going the same way. So at least you can change your mind any amount of times, move them start over etc, not like with some shrubs.

My mother used to make ice-cream now & again, that was back when we had a tiny fridge with one of those little ice-making trays, not sure how she went about it but now it must be much simpler.

    More tea I think.. xx

Toady, I've tried peas for the last 2 years and hardly had anything off them. I thought they'd be easy. Hope you managed to get some jobs done and your post arrived.

Elizabeth at least you got something done. Don't be too hard on yourself. Things will get done when you're good and ready to do them. Hope you managed to get some more sleep.

Barbara glad your son is doing well now. I read that you can freeze a banana in it's skin then mash it and it tastes just like banana ice cream. I did once freeze a banana but forgot it was in the freezer. I've got 2 buddleias, one in the front garden which I cut down to almost ground level every year and it comes back, and another in the back garden which I'm thinking of chopping down altogether as it's doesn't have a lot of flowers on it. Did you know they are classed as weeds as the seed all over the place.

Toady, I always think that doing a tiny bit at a time will get you there in the end.

I carried my raincoat to and from work again today as the forecast said it would rain all day. It didn't. A bit cloudy first thing but by teatime it was hot and sunny. managed to get a bit more hedge cut back.

Christine..they have been telling us rain for a few days now ...we had a shower the other night...glad you managed the physio even if you didn't get up earlier.. :)
Today my hip is 12 months old..my mums birthday I am sure that is why I was so calm because she was with me somehow..I always said when the day come you will not get me to the hospital :o but off I went got there for 7am.and didn't have my op till 4..so I was there all day without water or food..so I kept sneaking off to get a drink...

Hello Barbara, Christine, Elizabeth, and anyone else who pops in.

Thankfully my remaining prescription items arrived on Friday. The pharmacy has a new driver so hopefully things will run more smoothly in future.

Went shopping yesterday and it was so warm that OH and I popped in to a newish unisex hair dresser in our town centre. No appointment needed, and we got in early so were 'done' straight away. I've gone back to my post chemo look, as combing and washing my hair is just too much like hard work, and painful. So here's the mugshot.

    10357454_743867309002713_7424831318393055169_n_zps4a1989dd.jpg

Barbara, how lovely, aren't Buddlea also known as the Butterfly bush? my spell check wanted to put befuddle, which sounds just like you were when trying to type it.

Elizabeth, talking about bananas reminds me of a childhood holiday in Dawlish Warren. There was an ice cream shop that sold battered bananas on a stick. They were gorgeous. Haven't had one for years.

Talking of ice creams, I had two yesterday. :o A double 99 from the ice cream man in town, and then at home later, a M**s choc ice. So much for losing weight.

Toady, hope your broken tooth isn't causing too much pain. Not many things worse that toothache. :?

Well, must go, but will just help myself to an ice cold orange juice to refresh me. xx

I think you've got the spelling right Barbara. Dark pink sounds lovely. We were supposed to get rain all day today but not a drop. Apparently, it stayed just out at sea and didn't come inland. Happy birthday to your new hip. I'm sure your mum was there with you at the time too. Your baby is 2 next month? Wow, where has the time gone?

Don't blame you having your hair cut short Kath. Much easier to look after. Yes the buddleia is also known as the butterfly plant but, sadly, there don't seem to be many butterflies around at the moment. I haven't seen any on my 2 bushes. You sound as bad as me for ice cream.

Joan, you are having a busy week. Hope your new medication works for your mouth. You seem to have had that for a while.

Well I'm down on the floor typing doing my lying face down exercise. My elbows are getting quite sore leaning on them. I'll have to find something to put under them. I think time's up so I'll turn over and do the rest now. Bye for now.

Hello Barbara, Christine, Toady, Joan, and anyone else who pops in.

I'm glad the photo didn't scare you too much, but yes I'm finding it easier to manage. Just wash and go as the advert says and no reaching up to comb the knots out.

I've just been on FB, I've founds several arthritis (especially Rheumatoid) groups on there. It's illuminating to read posts from those who live abroad. It makes you realise how lucky we are to have the NHS. I know we complain about it, but I for one wouldn't be without it. :D

Toady, seeing your name always makes me smile as one of my commonest typos was toady instead of today.

Christine, I'm staggered that you can even get down on the floor, let alone type down there. No wonder you bilbows (my sister's childhood name for elbows) are hurting. I can just about get down, but getting back up is a problem - especially when I fall.

Joan, I hope you get some relief from your sore mouth soon.

Barbara, I hope your butterfly bush attracts more. Last year we had quite a few different varieties but I've only seen cabbage whites this year.

Hope you are all feeling reasonably well today.

Kath I have had my hair cut this morning the same old style.. you are right some countrys are so poor..it must be awful not being able to get the treatment...but the NHS should be good in this country we have all paid for it...oops a rant sorry, ..yes the butterfly bush I thought I had heard it called that.. :D
My potatoes ..sorry if you are fed up of hearing about them...well they have a few flowers on now so next week Iwill harvest and make us all chips in the cafe chunky or with cheese or has they come...tell you.. they had better be good after all this palaver
    See you later xxxxx

You're right Kath. Things would be so different without the NHS. My daughter lives in Ireland and they have to pay for everything. Must admit, I've written toady instead of today a few times. I count myself as being very lucky as, in my rheumie's words, my RA is just rumbling away quietly in the background, although it doesn't always feel that way. I am finding it easier to get up off the floor now. it was rather difficult at first.

Yes Barbara, that's me. I don't like just doing one thing at a time. Work was ok today. Thanks for asking. The 2 boys have been away so there was less to do. it meant today I was almost running out of things to do. Almost but not quite. I don't mind hearing about your potatoes. I like to hear how other people's veg or flowers are getting on. Mine still only have tiny buds.

It's quiet again today. Hope everyone is just enjoying the good weather.

Our council promised us 2 new long stay car parks which we were supposed to get before they started charging for parking in the High Street. Well the plans for one have just been turned down altogether and the other one has been in use for years. They are only adding 4 more spaces and will now charge for them.

I had to laugh earlier. I was in the garden and could hear my next door neighbours. She said she could see a nettle growing through the fence. Then I heard 'Ouch' and she said it had big spikes on it and asked her husband if it was a nettle or a weed. He said it wasn't a weed but probably a wild flower. I'm guessing it was a bramble as we've always had them growing in our gardens round here.

Hello Barbara, Christine, Toady, Joan, everyone. :D

My, what a scorcher! Hope tonight is a bit cooler as I have trouble enough sleeping as it is. Although I hope your neighbour doesn't get rain Barbara. We could do with some, but it looks as though it will stay dry for the moment.

Christine, there is an alley along the back of our houses and the gardens on the street behind often have brambles poking through. I wouldn't mind if it was straight into our garden, I might encourage them for the blackberries, but it is an access path for 4 houses. Not very nice when you get your legs prickled. :?

I'm looking forward to trying some of your chips Barbara. I don't particularly like chip shop chips as I prefer mine crunchy, but soft inside. I might bring some fish fingers in to have with them. Lots of Ketchup too. Yummy - I don't think I'm going to lose much more weight with that attitude...

Right the little boys party was ruined for a while...no bouncy castle.. they had 8 children all coming round...the excuse the place gave was my daughter took the booking and didnt put it in the book...no but she took a deposit...I was ready with the camera...so poor mum had to ring round and one of the other mums has a big blow up pool..so they organized a pool party at the other mums house..and all ended well... :D

Barbara, we've been told there will be thundery showers all week but there hasn't been one drop of rain. Hope your face is ok after being scratched with the bramble. Glad your GD got the pic she wanted. How awful for the little boy, the bouncy castle not turning up. Glad they got the pool. I'm sure they must have had a lot of fun. Looking forward to your chips next week.

Joan, hope you and Sue and Peppa are having a good weekend.

Kath, I leave my bedroom window open at night. Doesn't seem to cool the room down much and at the weekend, there are people coming home from the pubs and night club so I hear them. I keep one bramble growing for the fruit but cut down any others I find. I don't want them taking over as they do grow very quickly.

I was on my own with dad this week. Everyone else had other things to do. I think we had the same 3 conversations over and over. The cat was 50 a couple of months ago and today she was 77. He's going to book a holiday but only going away for days. My sister had taken her GS on a day trip but was only in town. It is so difficult to hold a conversation as I don't know what to say in case it's not what he's thinking at the time. At least I only have it for a few hours a week. My sister lives next door so has this every day.

Our High Street is in chaos at the moment. There are temporary crossing lights, which are difficult to spot, and a big section of the road is fenced off. This has caused a lot of people to run across the road in front of traffic to get to where they want to be. Last week, one of my elderly neighbours walked halfway across then walked down the middle of the road in front of a big queue of traffic because he couldn't get to the bus stop across the road. Today, the bus driver said there were cars parked all day in front of the temporary bus stop. This meant he had to let passengers off in the middle of the road. One elderly lady with walking difficulties got off and stood for a while because she couldn't work out where to go. I've sent a complaint to the council. I'm surprised no-one (as far as I know) has been injured yet.

    Morning Barbara :)

I am not at all surprised you get confused with all the comings and goings at your house!!!

My Sis is here until Weds very early am :(

My husband is back up working in Scotland so she can travel in (relative) comfort.

    Let's hope Elizabeth is alright.

Barbara have you heard from catie or MrO lately??

The cafe is looking spotless again. Guess Toni has been in. Lucy's hair will grow back again but it must be a bit disappointing when it starts to grow back then goes again. 22 degrees at night? That's a bit too warm for even daytime. Enjoy the rest of your time with your sister. Hope there is plenty more laughing.

Barbara, there is a council site online where people can post complaints about parking, potholes, overgrown trees and bushes, anything the council will deal with. Someone has linked it to facebook so it shows up there. My post came up and several people said it was the fault of the people who were crossing the road and that the elderly should use the crossing properly. I was shocked. Only one person agreed with what I'd said. I'm not surprised you get confused with GC coming and going. Do you ever wake up thinking one is there and a different one comes downstairs? My sister does that with her daughters. She can never remember which one is sleeping out and which one has a friend staying.

Just been talking to my GC in Dublin. They are growing up so fast. My GS is soon going in to the pre-school room at creche and my GD's hair is now long enough for a ponytail. Hoping they can come over sometime in the next few weeks but my daughter is still waiting to see if she's allowed the time off work.

Hope everyone who hasn't been in is ok and not in too much pain.

Hi all :) I have been absent while working my way up to my planned-ish visit/ outing today (ie trying to relax, alternated with mostly 'gearing up' and getting in a froth  ). The make an arrangement and worry about cancelling thing never gets any easier. Anyway I did manage to fit it in :) despite a plumbing 'emergency' this morning when the hot bath tap decided to not fully turn off (it's been threatening for ages :? ) - had to turn the stopcock off & will worry about it tomorrow. No idea what will have to happen as I was told there is no chance of replacing these particular taps. Eek - brilliant timing, once again..

So now I am gearing up for the dentist instead. Can't come soon enough for me now & can but hope it doesn't take more than one trip.

Glad everyone seems not too bad, and glad I haven't missed the chunky chips. :D

Hope joan's new stuff for her mouth has enough oomph to see the problem off this time. Hope everyone who is finding the heat a bit much is coping too. Must say it seems to be sapping me a bit though it never used to.

Applerose's type-while-you-exercise regime is after my own heart too. I was reminded of a funny-ish book we had in the house years ago called 'Lazometrics' (ie even more minimal exercises than isometrics), think it was American - haven't thought of it for a while. Sorry your town is in such chaos, it doesn't sound very well thought out.. and 4 new parking spaces, oh the council have pushed the boat out there.

Kath I am with you being able to get down to the floor at a pinch but not up. Shame as it would be nice to sit on the grass in the garden now & again.
My eye keeps getting drawn to the word 'today' as if it's toady, so I get the effect that way round too. I suppose I didn't think that through very well. :D

Well I am disappointed about the bouncy castle :( so I hope the pool really did go well & wasn't a poor second. Lucky it is hot enough for that to be fun. No excuse for being so sloppy with bookings when it's kid's things, really.

Glad you have had your sister to visit, Toni :D that's a long trip back, has she been in Scotland a long while..? Lovely to catch up and glad she was with you during the hairy car breakdown, at least it was help & company! My buddleia will have to go really as it's a bit big for its position but I will start with another. I haven't seen many butterflies either.. and my honeywort which the bees are supposed to go mad for, well I swear there is just the one same bee on it every day. At least he is enjoying them to himself.

Will be back in during the week, dental & plumbing probs permitting.

Well-earned cup of tea for me. :) Anyone wants to join me, I'm in the chair so to speak. xx

Hope you've had a good weekend Joan.

Barbara, I eat my strawberries as they're ready so I'll never have enough for jam either.

Toady, I'm glad you managed to fit everything in despite the tap playing up. I wonder if it just needs a washer or the inner workings. Hope your trip to the dentist goes well. I'll join you for a cuppa if you're still there.

I thought my son and GS were at a football tournament today but it was yesterday so I spent the afternoon at their house. Little Ruby was having fun dancing, my GS was busy on his games machine. It connects to the internet and he has a mike and earphones so he can play the game with and talk to his friends. My GD is definitely a teenager now (12) and gets quite moody, stomping off upstairs. I guess we all went through that. They are off to Spain on Friday so I am dog sitting. She has her own seat in the corner of the settee at home so wonder if I'll be sitting on the floor for a fortnight.
