Hello Today - er Toady, Barbara, mig, Joan, Christine, Elizabeth and Toni.

Can't remember if I've told you I have an appointment with the fragrant Dr P (my rheumy) at the beginning of September. It seems so long to wait, but I have a respiratory appointment at the end of this month, a dermatology appointment at the beginning of August, and an oncology appointment at the end of September!! All my ologists want to see me - how nice.

I don't know about any of you, but I'm not looking forward to the forthcoming heatwave - it's already too hot for me thank you

Joan, I do hope your mouth is getting better. I had Fluconazole capsules for oral thrush - much better than using gels or ointments, but mine was ready made up - what a nuisance having to mix it yourself.

Christine, oh 12! The terrible twos were bad enough, but when they get to stroppy 12 you wonder if they'll ever grow out of it. Thankfully they do.

Toady, taps and teeth - what a combination. :?

Toni, how is Lucy coping with the heat? When I was on chemo, I was always cold - perhaps it was the lack of hair. One of my drugs was Epirubicin, it made your wee red. Does Doxirubicin do the same? I also had Cyclophoshphamide which is sometimes used in lower doses for RA. It can cause cystisis!! The other drugs were 5FU and Taxotere. Although I only had one dose of that as it made my white blood cells disappear. The regime was called FEC-T - we called it fekkin' FEC! Is that allowed on these forums??

Barbara, I hope it gets cooler soon, but from what they've said, it's not going to yet awhile.

Elizabeth, don't know if you're reading without posting, but I hope you are ok.

    Sending you all hugs. xx

Joan I hope your mouth will soon be feeling better..and how is Sue doing.

Joan, I hope you and Sue had a good day.

How nice of all your ologists to want to see you. Sounds as if you'll be busy. I really don't want to complain about the heat but I find it so difficult now.

Barabara, I never know when afternoon finishes and evening starts. My son's dog gets the leftovers off everyone's plates but I never leave anything so I'll probably get her some dog treats to make it up. Hope your GD enjoys her trip to our region. Do you know which part she's going to? That was good of your GD to do the hoovering.

We were supposed to get heavy rain and maybe thunder storms but it only rained a little for about 10 minutes just before I left work so I got the bus home but it had already stopped by the time I got on. Some traffic cones have been put near the bus stop to stop people parking there but the driver said there isn't enough room to get the bus anywhere near the raised platform so passengers have to walk out in to the road to get on. Someone said the work in the High Street is due to be finished on Thursday. Doesn't look like it to me. :?

Everyone seems to be packing suitcases. My son's wife has already packed theirs ready for Friday, my sister has started packing as they go away in 3 weeks and my boss has got 5 huge suitcases out of the loft. They go on Friday but probably won't pack till that morning. Isn't it funny how everyone does it differently?

Hope Elizabeth is ok. And everyone else who hasn't been in recently.

It's not cheap going to the dentist, is it Barbara? I've got a chipped tooth but it's not bothering me. I still need to go though. £4 from Manchester to Stockton? That's really good. It costs me £4 20 to get to and from the next town in either direction and over £6 to go a little further when I go to the hospital. I was watching a gardening programme (can't remember which one) and they very gently moved some of the soil away round the potatoes to see how they were doing then put the soil back.

Joan, hope your cold doesn't last long and Sue's water tablets are doing their job.

Well tomorrow is the big day for my niece. 12.30 and she'll be having her head shaved. I haven't seen or spoken to her but I wonder if she'll sleep tonight.

I'll leave the kettle on in case anyone else pops in.

Joan I hope the water tabs work for Sue, if that mouth goes worse you go back ..they can be very painful...
Christine you look up megabus..the prices are brilliant..but I think I had it wrong they are getting the bus to Leeds then to Stockton I think... :? I checked the prices yesterday, and its £5 for us to go to Leeds and the same back...like you say the short bus journeys between towns cost a fortune... aww I will be thinking of your niece at 12.30...I think I might just checked the potatoes... :) there doesn't seem to be anymore flowers coming :?
cloudy here today...but a little cooler..it seems Thursday is going to be very hot... :o
Today I must remember to do the online shopping....
Will leave the kettle on and give the place a clean before Toni comes in..hope this week is going ok for Lucy...

Hello Joan, Toady, Barbara, Christine, and anyone else who pops in.

Phew!! Went into town shopping this morning. What a scorcher!! I bought myself 3 pairs of cotton trousers. I usually wear black leggings - which make my itchy legs even itchier. Also got some more Dermol 500 emollient that you can also use as a soap replacement. Last night was awful. I don't think I stopped scratching once and I'm still feeling it now - b***** hot weather. :x Rant over.

Joan, sorry to hear you have a cold and sore throat. How miserable for you. :(

Barbara, hope your potatoes start to grow soon. :)

Christine, we've had no rain at all. It did turn quite black "ovver bill's muvvers" as they say, but no rain.

I've already had a double 99 today, but I see there are some nice juicy ice lollies - we call them suckers here - so I'll have one of those with a large slice of cake, thank you very much whoever bought that in. :D

Still no news of Elizabeth? Getting worried now. :?

Hello all :D well I have done the 'thing' - emerged from the dentist with less trouble than I expected :D so I am a happy & relieved toad today. The tooth was patchable so there was v little invasive stuff thankfully, I skipped my meth but I feel I can have my enbrel & chance it. Cost less than I expected too so I disposed of the excess budget in a certain store's grocery dept (*&*), so there are cookies (soft ones just in case!), muffins, and if the cake you found was coffee sponge Kath, that was courtesy of me too. & v nice. :D

(Note to self. Count yourself lucky to have got off so lightly and don't start moaning about something petty within 24 hours!!!)

Thanks for the moral support. I may even make my next OT appt if I strictly behave - out Sunday and now again today is pushing my luck a bit.

Glad your checkup was ok barbara and you have been let off for 9 months. That takes it over winter too which is always good, less germs. :)

Kath, I hope you can juggle all your ologists, at least by having one at the end Jul & one at start of Aug that's 2 you can poke out of the way with a stick quite close together.. then the others will seem less with a bit of luck. Sorry the heat is aggravating the itching, it will peak on Fri it seems and then go down again a bit but maybe not as far you'd prefer. Should be less humid though and with some overcast rainy bits. I have never heard of it being black ovver Bill's muvvers but I like it :D the origin seems to vary according to which account you believe, like so many sayings.

Hope the dog-sitting goes well applerose, even if it rather than you is going to be in charge  is it a nice dog, that's the main thing. TK has posted on the kitty thread so is around somewhere & hopefully ok. Hope it all goes well with your niece, it will be a bit scary I should think, well I would have been, but it sounds as though she will take it in her stride. :)

Sorry you & sue are under the weather joan :( hope you can clear up the sore throat & cold as quickly as possible, horrid to have that this weather especially. I hope you don't have too many things you have to cancel, or will miss anything you wanted to do.

I will have some of that crumble thanks mig and if I have it with ice-cream I won't have to be the custard maker  but mine is usually ok so I will volunteer, if anyone prefers it.

Good luck with the potato crop barbara and hope you can keep the birds off the strawberries - hopes of jam are fading fast lol.

    Best to all, xx

Barbara, I'll keep the megabus in mind in case I'm going anywhere. Might be cheaper than an ordinary bus. How are your potatoes?

Kath, I think I need to find some cooler trousers. I usually wear jeans for work and have some jean shorts (just below the knee) but they are still too warm. I like the warm weather but, boy, does it bring problems.

Mig, you have been busy. It does feel good when you make some space. Mmmm, apple pie and custard sounds rather delicious.

What a relief, Toady, getting your tooth done. Glad you had some money left over. Think I need a slice of your cake as well as Mig's apple pie. Lucy, my son's dog, is lovely. Very laid back so it'll be lovely to have her company. Glad Elizabeth is still around. I was getting worried about her.

What an emotional afternoon. My niece did go ahead and have her head shaved. I think there was a second when she suddenly wasn't sure but her sister, who was doing the shaving was really good at calming her down. Once she had started, Erin had a big smile on her face. The whole year from school was there cheering and chanting 'Erin, Erin, Erin.' There were lots of tears, her mum, her big sister, even her eldest sister who did the shaving had a tear or two. And my GD cried her eyes out. We heard a lot of comments from the students as we walked round such as 'I'm proud to be in the same school as someone who can do that.'

Here she is with mum and dad.

Hello Christine, Barbara, Mig, Toady, Joan, and Elizabeth if she's lurking nearby - hope to see you back soon.

Christine, I can't wear anything shorter than ankle length because of my awful looking scabs where I've been scratching. Beautiful photo of Erin, no wonder you are proud of her.

Joan, glad you got your medicine mixed for you. I hope it's helping.

Toady, I'm glad to hear you got your tooth fixed. It was coffee sponge cake, thank you. :D

Mig, glad to see you back too, especially as you are laden with goodies. I fancy some plum crumble. I've cheated and brought in a carton of ready made custard, it will be lovely cold on the crumble - then I'll have a piece of apple pie with ice cream.

Hope everyone gets some sleep tonight in spite of the heat. xx

Hello all, v hot indeed but I've been able to have a lovely quiet day inside.. I count myself lucky it didn't fall that I have anywhere to go today or tomorrow.
Sorry to everyone that doesn't like it or is feeling under the weather as well as.

Yes it's hot for cats isn't it, the neighbours' is tucking itself into cool little patches in the shrubbery and I keep coming across him in different places when I go out.

Hope marrianne is ok.. I was thinking, with my tap situation, that at this rate marrianne will be doing her washing in the bath, and I will be bathing in the kitchen sink  well hopefully it will not come to that but I can't see them being replaceable, I was told not, anyway. So it may come to some sort of temporary bodge fix for now til it can move up the queue of jobs.

Joan, how annoying that the pharmacist made a mistake with your medicine, and an extra trip to check. That's not very good. Hope it helps now you are able to start it and the cold is not one that hangs around.

Applerose, so well done to Erin.. :) and she looks lovely anyway. It's a big thing to do. Glad she had her sister doing the 'honours', that must have helped. It will grow back quickly over the rest of the summer. Glad to hear Lucy is a good dog. Does she need long walks or is she a little dog with little legs. :D

Well lemonade sounds lovely, and how are those potatoes? :D Will sit here and cool down with the evening and see what the night brings.

Plenty of cake left, they were 2 for something or other so it would have been silly to get one. (I sounded a bit like I was chucking my money about willy-nilly but it was mostly sensible things I needed anyway and has saved me thinking about an online shop for a little longer. You certainly could spend a lot v quickly though with some of 'those' food prices! :o )

Sending thoughts for a good night for folks, xx

Barbara, will do. Thank you. We don't know how much has been raised but it is definitely over £1000 and it is still coming in so a big thank you to everyone who sponsored Erin. Your ice cream sounds good. I'll have to give it a try. I've seen a small but deepish pool somewhere. Thought about getting it to sit in in the garden but don't think I could be bothered with filling it.

Joan, glad you got your meds sorted out. It's not good when they get it wrong.

Kath, you poor thing. All that itching. Yes, we are all very proud of Erin. Just checked the temperature and it's 20 degrees outside and 19 degrees inside. Phew.

Toady, hope you find a solution to your tap problem soon. I thought it was nice for Erin to have her sister shave her head too. She should have about an inch to an inch and a half by the time she goes back to school. Lucy is a black labrador something. She can take or leave walks so that's ok. Poor thing is wondering why my son has gone without her. She keeps checking upstairs and outside. I'm sure she'll settle in a couple of days though. I know what you mean about spending too much on food. I can't resist the bargains and I have to be honest, I have sometimes had to throw things out because I didn't use them.

Just had an update from my sister. So far Erin has raised £1528 and it's not all in yet. :D

    Morning all
Christine..£1,528 is brilliant good for her..hopefully it might go over 2, 000 :D Lucy will settle down..now I could do with a dog like that .. :D Erin and her sisters hair will probably grow quicker while its summer I know mine does..my hairdresser cuts mine and my neighbours every 5 weeks instead of 6..hope you don't get to hot at work...must be nice while they are all on holiday or is it lonely..
Kath I really feel for you being hot is bad but scratching has well..you must be desperate for some relief...I would wear what I wanted to cool down never mind the scabs on show..and I always use the carton custard much better than mine
Toady..I was wondering how Marrianne was going on bet she is shattered but hopefully by now she has a washer by now...glad you managed a nice relaxing day inside..dont you just yearn for them..i do has I get older and more wonky..I agree about spending to much on food..I think the recession concentrated peoples mind on this..
Well there is a lovely breeze here hope it last but worried about the thunder storms we are promised tonight..wounder if this is why we have breeze it is whipping up.. :o
This weekend kath might get her chips...I will let you know and take a pic of the harvest... see you all later...xxxxx

Sorry been AWOL from the cafe. things have been hectic with my boy and had a few appointments; rheummy, 3 for the BP and bloods so been here and there. All done now except getting my annual steroid on Monday. I'll be flying then :D

The storm woke up all the children so I had some comforting to do. Dan was shaking so I had to reassure him it was going away. I thought it was beautiful and added bonus was the rain for the flowers.

OH cut down some laurel yesterday and he as left the poor pidgeon and her nest exposed but its lovely to look at her sitting on her eggs.

Kath bet you feel cooler now. I once had really short hair, grade 4, but have it long now.

Take care everyone. Will be going away to quieter places as much as possible throughout the summer so might not be online too often.

Yes, Barbara, Erin's hair will soon grow. My hair seems to grow a lot any time of year. It wasn't too hot at work today which is unusual. On the walk home, it was very hot one minute then breezy and cool the next. Best thing was, I got 4 weeks wages all at once. They have to last 4 weeks though. Not lonely at all. It's good having the place to myself although the 18 year old will be there from Monday night till Thursday lunchtime before he goes to join the others. I quite enjoy a good thunder storm but hope you don't get any. Looking forward to seeing your potatoes. Must remember the trick of carrying stones in my shorts so it leaves my hands free. How lovely to hear from your cousin.

Thank you Mig. So sounds like you are about to get the thunder. Hope you're ok with it.

Good to see you back Elizabeth. Hope you do feel good on Monday and that Dan is ok now after the storm. Don't worry about popping in. As long as we know where you are and that things are ok.

Joan, hope you and Sue have a good weekend and your mouth is improving.

Poor Lucy, my son's dog, cried most of the night then I had to leave her this morning while I went to work. She was very happy when I came home. She is settling down now though. Got a text from both my son and DIL saying the apartment is lovely and they are having a good time.

Hope you all have a good weekend.

    Good Morning fellow Café-dwellers :)

Finally we got 'the storm' overnight :) Pheweeeee!!

Do two of us have no water???? Outside in my garden will be perfect for doing washing and having a shower ;)

Daisycat is not so happy this morning - yesterday in the heat she loved it!! She is an odd-un.

Elizabeth I hope your poor boy is ok and you had no more storms to scare him. Good you are due your steroid jab :D . I got my appointment in for rheumy, but it clashes with Lucy's chemo rota so will have to rearrange

Hope you can see the baby birds hatch! I hope you have a good summer and understand the need for peace with you lad, but will miss you.

Imagine the pharmacy making a mistake with Joan's meds  It's a really good job you were on the ball - get well soon.

Supposed to be meeting one of Lucy's chemo-crew in Lichfield today, but there's really no 'cover' so I will have to think of somewhere else :?

Christine Erin is an absolute STAR :) What she has done will do so much good for others. I for one would like to thank HER!! She is beautiful isn't she?

Barbara - Baby sounds such a character!! Lucy used to love stones too...I remember having carrier bags full of (junk) stuff including stones until she got her own handbag :)

Mig I hope the air is clearer your way. It's STILL pelting down here
