Evening all
I thought I had posted this morn... :?
Mig ancestry is brilliant , think its around 18 months now since my membership ran out ..I might just have another go...its the most enjoyable thing I have done on the comp..not sure if you know but also the Mormons do it for free at least it was when I started..I have forgotten the name of will have to look it up..
We have middle GD here and the baby was here earlier she is 2 on Monday..sorry if I have already told you this..we have all chucked in and mum and dad are taking her to see in the night garden on stage...not a clue what she will think when they are so big
Its has just started thundering here after raining all day so I am off to hide .. :shock:Love

Hi all
just popped in as I am doing my online shop & thought I'd say I have seen gooseberries in t***o (not half of the things I want, mind you, but yes to gooseberries. ) Aside of that I had a very nice gooseberry & elderflower yoghurt from 'another shop' (the one with two initials and an '&' in the middle.)
Tabletop cookers get the thumbs up thenhope I'll get on with mine ok but it should be fine, will probably get a separate portable hob of some sort as I couldn't see me balancing pans on the top while something was in the oven or grill bit.
Rain again today but got some washing dry in between. Hope everyone is managing to get a things done a bit easier, now (if) it's cooler.. how is your list of jobs barbara.. I am tackling annoying little jobs like odd bits of mending & taking up some curtains (only net/voile things) because none of the silly windows in my silly house are standard sizes. :? Hopefully I'll feel better for getting on with them, don't like sewing really. I think I have used the Mormon genealogy site you mean but I think it didn't have what I was after. All the free BMD stuff is great as some of the subs can be quite pricey seeing as you may still not find what you want.
Spent yesterday keeping an eye on an insect bite (probably flea, one of the many  ) that was looking quite nasty and I had visions of antibiotics.. even if I could see anyone, everything always happens on a Friday of course.. so I took a chance and gave it a good going with v hot water, tea tree and some slightly out of date ointment  and thankfully it seems better. V relieved.
Hope the humira has kicked in now mig, I have heard some of the biologics have a tailing off effect. I never know what to say to people who suggest trying remedies, as they expect you to tell them how you get on.. if it's something harmless then people think of course you will give it a go unless you have a good reason & usually I can't be bothered is my reason.. awkward.
Hope applerose is doing ok, & TK too & marrianne.. hello to joan as well, and hope all have a good Sunday.. toady xx0 -
Morning all
No Christine hope she is just having a break from the cafe..notice I don't mind talking to myself.I hate to think that people post just to keep me company...
Toady some of these bites get quite nasty so I am glad the teatree oil has worked..it is good ..and if I don't have any its salt and hot water...that came from the hospital when my youngest son had a nasty horse fly bite that wouldn't heal...my jobs well I have done one...wiped down the window frames...I do feel lazy these days and sometime I think i make excuses...  good luck with the cooker..I am sure you will get used..I only got up half hour ago... I must wake up every 2 hours not a clue why its not always pain...but the later I get up the tireder I will be all day :?
It is dark here but not raining for the min...I didn't do a online shop and now we have 2 GDs here..
will see you later xxxxxxLove

Hello everyone,
Hope all are well and not suffering too much.
When I need a new repeat prescription, my pharmacy delivers it and usually keeps the repeat slips so I just ring and tell them what I want. Last week I had Flucloxacillin and saline nebs. When it was delivered, all the repeat slips were in the bag with them. I was surprised to see that all the emollients, steroid creams and other stuff the hospital had given me had been added to the list. I'm a bit cross because there are a couple of rather expensive creams on there that I've actually bought, not knowing they had been added to my list. But I'm ordering more anyway. Glad they put the repeat slips in my bag now, or I might never have known what I could get for free.
I signed up to Gene's Reunited for one year, but I can't get anywhere with it. Wish I signed up to Ancestry now. I might take a look at the Mormon site.
Hope all are having a reasonably good weekend. xx"Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea." Robert A Heinlein

Hi all. I took the kids off to Spain, away from WiFi and constant swimming so haven't been able to post. Boy it was scorching. We had limited TV but saw the downpours and also Eastbourne pier in flames, I spent many a night and day on that pier.
Can't stop and will attempt to read back but the kids are on their holiday now. Took my Son out for the last day of term as they were having a BBQ and you know what he's like and wondering if they will fine me!
Been awake all through the night with 3 grumpy kids as the flight home was delayed (apparently just one of those things said the Captain).

Hello all
Kath, they should have told you in the first place about the cream...honestly the things they get up to..I have never had any luck with genes united..hope you can get the free trial on ancestry that mig has mentioned..
Mig think I will see if they will let me have the trial even though I have been a member quite a while it has run out now...
Elizabeth I'm so glad you get away with your family,it will have done you good hopefully...sorry the kids are grumpy hope you have all cached up on your sleep..
Had my hair cut this morning ..and then my son and his partner brought the baby and her sister ..for the baby's second birthday...she has been to see in the night garden on stage..and loved it ...so we had some birthday cake I have saved you all some...see you later....xxxxLove
Barbara0 -
What a lovely treat for her birthday.
Yes it did do me some good as I lost half a stone because the heat suppressed my appetite. The difficult bit will be keeping it off.
Before I went my BP was sky high so I now have some BP pills. Losing weight will help. I'm to be tested for thyroid and diabetis so I really must help make an effort.
Respite day today although my Son was upset about going. He'll be kayaking and boating so hope he enjoys it but e'd rather be sitting at home on the laptop.

Hello Barbara, Elizabeth, Joan, Mig. Hope those I've not mentioned are ok and just having too good a time to come on.
Thanks Mig, I started the Ancestry trial but because I'm so thick, I couldn't get on with that either. Been having a go at the Mormon one too. Obviously my ancestors don't want me to find anything about them.
Barbara, I think part of the problem is that not all my consultants send me a copy of the letters they send out to my GP. My rheumy always does, and my respiratory one too, but dermatologist and oncologist never have. Are you lot in the cupboard back there listening to me? 8)
Elizabeth, well done on the weight loss. It is difficult, especially when you are so tired you keep falling asleep.
This morning we watched a recorded program called "World War I Diaries" with some survivors relating events that happened to them whilst over in France doing their 'bit'. So very sad to hear men who saw their best friends get killed. Some awful tales. At the end they put a picture up of each of the men who had taken part, with their birth date and the date they'd died. Needless to say they were all gone now - several of them lived to be over 100 years old. It did make me feel a bit blubby. But I love all this World War I stuff. My dad's dad fought in both wars. Amazing.

Hello everyone. I'm back. I'll just get a cuppa before I post.
Barbara, good for you thinking about a night class. I've done a few in the past but don't think I could take things in as well now. Happy birthday to the baby. 2 already.
Kath, I haven't had hazlet in years. We used to buy some, as a snack, for the kids when we went shopping. That's great getting your ancestry information on disc. I wonder where your ancestors are hiding.
Joan, you and Sue were tiny. Hope you are both keeping well.
Toady, hope you get your table top oven. You might find it's good enough and don't need a full size one. Hope your flea bite is better.
Mig, guess we all have that person who has tried something which cured their arthritis. My SIL used to have RA in her neck but she's cured now. I have had a few gooseberries from my gooseberry bush over the last couple of weeks but I've not seen any at all in the supermarket or on the market. I've just re-joined Genes and have just received a message from someone. Haven't read it yet. Wonder if I should have tried Ancestry instead.
Elizabeth, I'm glad you managed to get away for a while. Well done on losing the weight. I always put it on when I go away.
My daughter arrived on Friday at teatime and left yesterday for her husband's family's where they are leaving the dog while they go to Crete. Spoke to her last night and at 10.30, she asked if I fancied joining them today. It would have been lovely but a bit late to organise everything. It was great spending time with them. Just getting things cleaned up again after having my son's dog for a fortnight too. Black hairs everywhere. W**tabix everywhere. Toys everywhere.Even my son-in-law's empty packets and bottles left in the kitchen. I need to have a look at flights to Dublin in the next few weeks as they are determined to leave their jobs and go and live in Singapore by the end of September.
There was a service on Sunday at the cenotaph in the High Street on Sunday then they marched up to out park, round the corner from where I live, where there was another service. There was also a Victorian fun fair and a tent full of WW1 memorabilia, including a singer singing songs from the time.
Hope everyone is well.Christine0 -
Morning all
Christine I am glad your daughter got to you,its the same here when my youngest son has been for a few hours...wrappers and dishes everywhere..he thinks he still lives here...
it must be nice to have it all tidy again ..I bet the doggy misses you...
thanks for the birthday wishes she had a lovely day...my son youngest friend has just moved to Singapore..I really hope you get to see them..the fair sounded brilliant just up my street..they had nothing round here...
Kath I have only just started asking for copy's of letters ..and like you some send them some don't...it should be the norm now...anyway I am glad you can get the cream for free..and I hope it helps..I have watched the world war 1 diaries...yes it got to me ...those poor men hadn't a clue what they were in for...war is so very sad and never solved anything...if only they would learn...oops sorry went off on one..but I am passionate about it ..
The sun has just come out after raining all night and this morning, still one GD here she is bored so I hope today she will meet her friends...
I will put the kettle on and hope that Marrianne is doing okish...and bubbles who we haven't seen for a while...xxxxxxLove
Barbara0 -
Barbara, I don't know about the dog missing me. I'm missing her. Not sure when I'll see my daughter if they do go to Singapore. I'll have to save up for quite a while I think. It's worrying to think they'll be going with no jobs and no house. They plan to stay in a hotel for 3 to 6 months until they get jobs. I wouldn't mind so much if it was just the two of them. Haven't watched the WW1 diaries but I have been doing a bit of research and think my dad's great uncle was lost in the war. I found a record saying he was buried in Belgium in the graveyard for lost soldiers. Not sure how they bury lost soldiers unless it's just a cross. Nor sure I can find out any more. I don't understand war either. It can only be about people wanting control. Don't see why everyone can't just get along. It's rained on and off here all day. had a lovely surprise this afternoon. I got a call from my eldest GD this afternoon saying she and a friend weren't far from mine. They been trying to find a friend's house and got a bit lost so they came to mine for a couple of hours.
Wonder where everyone is. Hope they are all ok.Christine0 -
I've been out half of the day, went to see ot ,got to try and wear splint most of the day and have got a black one which comes nearly to my elbow which I'm to wear at night.
Sat with my daughter trying to sort out putting photos on the forum even with Toadys excellent explanations I still got it wrong but we think we've cracked it now.
Hope you are all managing to keep well ,daughter has a had a really bad cold so I daren't go see my neighbour who's just had a thr don't want to pass on any bugs.Mig0 -
Hello everyone, hope you're not feeling too bad.
We actually had some rain on Monday night, but it soon brightened up and got warm again. Today is HOT - and I got a line full of washing dry in a couple of hours. Even a flannelette sheet and a pair of jeans.
Shopped at T***o yesterday and bought some nice F & F clothes. Lovely summer tops that will double as vests in winter. Very unusual for me to get anything in my size from there.
So fed up of finding cobwebs and those tiny spiders everywhere in the house. OH went to the front door earlier today and walked through a huge one that stretched from one side to the other. Nobody would know he spends most of his time cleaning (OCD).
Mig, I hope your splints help. I have two 'working' splints and used to have a 'resting' splint - but I broke it. :x
Christine, very interesting about your dad's great uncle. I will watch most of the WWI stuff even though I find it upsetting. Some of those boys who lied about their age were only 14 when they went to fight. So sad."Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea." Afternoon all
Had to take our middle GD home this morning...so popped into ald**...
Christine I knew you would miss the doggy its surprising how its hard work when you have them but when they gone...aww family's do cause worry..and I can understand how you must be feeling ..I hope it works out for them and they soon settle in then you can relax a little...glad your GD got to yours...they do lift you GC...
how good that you have been able to trace your great great uncle will it be...it was so very sad for these young men
Mig I hope you get along with the new splint..yes you were wise not to visit your neighbour...hope she is doing well
Kath..we have cobwebs everywhere I have just bought a very long brush to get to them,,and spiders are everywhere..little ones great big ones..you did well with the washing....it was raining here this morning g now it is very hot...what strange weather mind you it is Britain
there are loads od sales on at the min...some of the supermarkets are giving stuff away..I always wounder what happens to the things they have left :?
Think I will make a cuppa and have a piece of anything sweet with no calories..see you all later xxxxLove
Barbara0 -
Mig, hope the splints make things easier for you and your cold goes quickly.
I've noticed a lot more baby spiders and webs around the house too Kath. How did you break your resting splint?I could understand the working one. My dad left home and signed up to the navy when he was 15. That was in 1952 though. I don't think they understood at that age what they were going to.
Barbara, I was thinking this morning about my dad's 'lost' great uncle and realised he won't have been lost. They meant he had died. Did you notice if Ald* were selling new brains?I like to think they donate the leftover food etc to a charity or home or something but they probably put it in a skip. I have heard of people getting the food out and eating it.
I had another physio session this afternoon. He did some work on my back and said it was loosening up quite well. I've not to sit, stand or walk about for more than an hour without changing and doing something else. And not to do any heavy work. I wasn't at work today and found that quite difficult. Spent a lot of time just standing wondering what I could do.
Think I'll have a cuppa before bed. Is there any of the sweet stuff left Barbara?Christine0 -
Morning all
Forgot to say I had a text off Joan there internet5 is down, I hope its back on for you Joan..
Christine glad the physio is going well, they can work wonders..they do say don't sit for more than45 mins..I cant sit still for ten mins..apparently the longer you sit the spine is squashed if you get the jist .. :? sorry I am confusing people again I mean what do the supermarkets do with all the clothes they have left...must say I have seen some on the markets...
I have hired a rug doctor..we go for it today they give you a code to open the locker, then you take it out and not forgetting the brushes for upholstery and instructions...£28 for 48 hours..so we will be busy..I will let you know how good it is...not a clue how heavy it is for OH to get into the car :? what I didnt realize you have to but the cleaning solutions
Will see you all later...xxxxxLove
Barbara0 -
Afternoon Barbara and anyone else who pops in. I've read your post again and you did say about the sales in the supermarket. I should have realised you meant clothes as they don't put food in the sales. Maybe I can get a new brain in a supermarket.
Yes, I've been told not to sit for more than that. Being off work and only having gardening to do (only allowed half an hour of light gardening), I'm finding it difficult not to sit. I've walked down to the High Street and back and had a wander round so have to try and find something else to do on my feet now.
Hope your OH gets on ok with the rug doctor.Christine0 -
It is diffcult not to sit Christine. Do you have to stand to eat too?
Dare I say the holidays are going well so far
I haven't seen any spiders this year. Hopefully they had free reign of the house while we were away and have gone now.
Fridge has nearly given up the ghost so been online to choose a new one but its not going to match my freezer. Also going to buy that dishwasher I promised myself several years ago and 2 new desks for the children as the current ones are a bit small.
Hope Joan gets back online soon,
Still eating better than before.

Elizabeth, I'm glad the holidays are going well for you. Good for you getting new kitchen equipment. You deserve them. No, I don't need to stand all of the time. I've not to sit or stand for more than an hour at a time. So I can sit for my meals then get up and walk around or after standing for a while, I need to walk about or sit down for a while. I could spend hours on the computer sorting out photos or researching my family tree but I'm not allowed to.
Good to hear you are still eating well.
Thanks Barbara. I hope Lucy's temperature is on it's way down now. It must be so worrying for Toni and the rest of the family. I know what you mean about wandering round in circles. I managed to sort out a couple of book shelves this afternoon. A few more books for the charity shop. Recipe books. I've got hundreds. Hardly ever use the recipes. My boss's wife is always leaving the keys in the front door and often leaves the door open too. Hope you enjoyed your takeaway.
We had a bit of a thunder storm earlier, a bit of rain but not too much. Popped in to B*yes while I was out and found a pair of black Sk*tch*rs with plenty of cushioning in the soles. They normally sell for £75 but I got them for £30. Bargain.
You must have popped your head round the door just as I was typing Toady. Just pop back when you have time. Cake sounds good.Christine0 -
Morning all
Phew the rug doctor did us in...talk about heavy you have to pull it toward you not push it...I had a go and that was it..I had to keep making the mix to refill it...must say its done a brilliant job..the carpet looks like newtrouble is you have to go and pick it up form a locker in the store..so not good if you dont have a car..
Toady good to see you and like Christine said the cake was very welcome..I hope you are doing okish...
Christine what we like going round in circles..Im the same with the comp would sit for hours doing whatever and look at the clock and had a shockyou did really well with the shoes I do love the cushioning in the sketc**s ..hope the physio is helping...
Today is more carpet cleaning before the machine goes back tomorrow..hope you all have a good day...and still thinking of Toni and Lucy..xxxxxLove
