Just popped in to say hello and hope all are having a good weekend. Weather isn't too bad at the moment, just a bit windy, but we've battened down the hatches in readiness for tomorrow's alleged bad weather.

That sounds like very hard work with the rug doctor Barbara. Glad it made a difference though. I phoned the physio reception as I wasn't given another appointment but she said I've been discharged. Guess there's only so much they can do. I've been given all the exercises so it's down to me now to make sure I do them. It's an hour both morning and evening. :?

It's been quite windy here today too Kath but not cold or wet. Our forecasters have said the weather shouldn't be much the same today as the hurricane is no longer a hurricane and will only bring a little wind and rain. Hope they are right.

Happy birthday Joan and Sue. Hope you've had a lovely day.

Mig, that sounds bad. Hope homes and shops haven't been badly affected.

I was on my own at dad's again this week as one sister had said she's been every day this week. Dad said she only went on Monday. The sister who cares for him has gone on holiday, apparently. Her daughter was supposed to be staying next door to dad to keep an eye on him but he said he's only seen her once. Found his bin full to the brim with rubbish. Couldn't have been emptied for a fortnight (I usually check it but I didn't go last weekend as my daughter was here) and it was crawling with maggots. If anyone had been in for a cuppa, they would have noticed that. Grrrr. Think I'll have a cuppa and a slice of cake while I'm here. I'll leave the kettle on in case anyone else pops in.

Just popping in to put the kettle on. There's bacon and sausages and beans ready. Eggs next to the frying pan ready to cook freshly.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Morning all pouring down here but just breezy.. :?
Mig well done you on posting the pics I really enjoyed seeing them..Toady has helped a lots of us with this.. :) gosh the weather was bad for you it was lovely here yesterday..
Christine..they seem to have left clues there at your dads..you must worry about this , but there isn't much you can do...they will say they have been but forgot the bin  it not fair for them to leave you to it when you are working and they are getting paid to do it.
The physio did the same with me.she said we get 6 weeks with people but if we can discharge earlier we do...once they have shown you how to do the exercises suppose its up to you, hope they are helping..
No GC here today...the baby came yesterday with mum and dad ..she has found were the biscuits are..so she gets the ti8n and brings it to us...it was empty.. so you can imagine the look on her face..
this is the heaviest rain we have had for a while..so wont be going out...Christine thanks for getting the breakfast things ready..I am starving :)
    See you all later xxxxxx

Well we've had rain and sunshine on and off for a couple of days. Luckily the wind wasn't too bad here in Middlesex.

I'm still ploughing through fridge/ freezer reviews. Thing is I need one quick because I need to store my humira in it but there is so much choice. I have a delivery due Friday!!!!hmmming and ahhing about the dishwasher now because I'll need to find a place for the bins. e ave a very large kitchen but badly laid out. I could fit a few more much-needed cupboards in if we got rid of the fishtank and moved the large table to the centre of the room (but need to plug in the computer which would mean trailing leads).

Forgot to mention that my Daughter took the job rather than go back to uni for the MA radio course. She is loving having her own money. She's still doing radio shows voluntarily and now as a slot at the Newcastle hospital.

    Is Joan still offline?

Applerose hope all is well with your Dad. It doesn't take long for maggots to develop in this heat but still it can't be nice.
Hope you can keep up with the exercises.

Diet still okay but I have to eat tiny amounts in order to lose weight and I'm not finding that easy.

Here, thanks :) ..have been reading but time just getting away from me so always 'just going to' post (like lots of other things..).

Glad to hear things are not too bad with you, a good holiday etc, and your daughter happy in her job and managing to fit some radio around things. Good luck with the fridge, I too have a badly planned kitchen, and took aaages choosing a replacement - needed to anyway, but my hand was forced by starting refrigerable drugs I just didn't trust my old one with them! Ended up with a small larder fridge in kitchen and a also smallish/slim fridge freezer in utility as not other config seemed to work. Not perfect but ok. Trailing flexes, I have those too.. and badly sited sockets. Hope you find something in time!

Barbara has been shampooing the carpets I see, that certainly didn't sound a 'light' job! Intriguing to hear you go and pick it up from a locker.. there are parcel collection-type things like that more and more now aren't there, probably the way we are all going with the post office cutting its services.. again.. Glad everything came up so well :D Have had v heavy rain too here but nothing as bad as some.. thundery & very 'overhead pressure' feeling though, not nice. It is a 'super full moon' tonight it says.. tied in with the meteor shower.. certainly looks very dramatic right now. We can expect to feel the effect of it apparently.. mood swings and so on.. I can quite imagine..

Applerose, it was very nice to come in and find all those nice breakfast things, yesterday; I rustled myself up poached eggs and some beans on the side. Slice of toast, pot of tea, lovely thank you. :D Hope things are ok at your Dad's. Very difficult situation, I do sympathise with the constant niggling arranging and having to co-ordinate with people.. not necessarily co-operative ones. Hope the sitting and standing is going ok too.. you are making me feel bad how little I do my exercises, I was doing v well keeping at that at one point then just seemed to hit a bit where I tailed off. How's work at the moment? not sure what your current hours are like.

Glad to see joan is back online even if not in here today. I saw something on the news about how long people spend on the net a week, talking about the continued rise in shopping online etc, I think the figure was around 17 hrs average.. at least, I'd think, and as we all say, time online goes so quickly..

Hope the weather wasn't too wild where you are in the end Kath. The mushrooms made me laugh  quite true, though I hadn't thought of it that way. Haven't had much with it in lately actually. Talking of cooking, I don't think I actually own a single recipe book.. applerose and mig will be shocked at me  much better if you can cook from scratch of course, maybe one day I will get back into it. Glad you got some nice F&F things. :)

Wishing everyone a good night, and if you hear a distant howling, that may very well be me.. :o

Kath, that's funny having all those mushrooms in different forms.

Barbara, I saw the advert for the rug doctor and it looks very big and heavy. I can imagine it wasn't easy pulling it. Hope you managed to get some of your jobs done.

Elizabeth, it is difficult re-arranging furniture in most rooms. Nothing seems to fit properly. Hope you get it sorted out ok. Your daughter will be pleased having her own money and doing the radio show too. I once lost quite a bit of weight by eating 5 small meals and 7 snacks a day but eventually, I felt I couldn't eat that much and it was difficult keeping it up when I was at work.

Toady, I've just been hanging out of the bedroom window. Too much cloud cover to see the moon or the meteors but I did see the International Space Station go by. There's a cargo ship docking with it tomorrow to drop off food, water etc. I was hoping to see that too as it's flying alongside at the moment but maybe it's too small. Only managed to watch for a few minutes as I'm scared of heights and was getting a bit twitchy. I'll have to watch out for my mood swings. I've just had a week off as my boss has been away for 3 weeks and didn't think there was enough work for me and it fitted in with my daughter visiting (although she could only stay till Monday). I was supposed to be back today but his mum said it might be tonight before they get back so to have today off and work extra on the other days.

Mig, we've had it very windy here and it has hardly stopped raining. Not nearly as bad as some areas though.

Got a message tonight from my sister who cares for my dad. They got home from Spain late last night and are going away again tomorrow morning for another week and could I go to dad's on Thursday. I told her I didn't finish work till 5.30 so it would be 6.30 before I got there but I could maybe get there a little earlier on Friday. About half an hour later, I got a message saying 'Forget it. Our other sister will do it AGAIN.' She works in a school so isn't at work for 6 weeks but I'm expected to take a day off to go. So it looks like they've fallen out with me again. :x

I spent a lovely afternoon yesterday with my son and his family. My GD was in her room most of the time on her tablet (as teenagers do), my GS had his bearded dragons swimming in the bath and my baby GD never stopped running about. Tired us all out. My daughter will be coming back from Crete tomorrow so we'll have to discuss when I'm going to Dublin for what could be the last time I see them before they go off to the other side of the world.

Oops, better go and do my exercises before bed. it's getting rather late.

    Afternoon all
Toady its good to see you ..don't worry I don't cook much these days..has for the full moon I felt very uneasy and couldn't sleep wounder if it was down to that.. maybe I had vampire ancestors.. I know what you mean about not getting round to things I am the worlds best..yes you pick the rugdoctor up from a locker in the supermarket..they give you a code..and you have to make sure you take the instructions and upholstery tools..
Elizabeth I do wish your daughter well..she seems to know what she wants..and good luck with the freezer..and dishwasher come to that
Christine..you deserve some time off but your sister should be making proper arrangements for your dad..honestly she seems so selfish sorry if I am talking out of turn..glad to see you had a good day with your son and family..all teens seem to be the same..in there bedrooms ..at least the baby will tire herself out bless...hope you do get to Dublin it will be a nice break.. :) got a rotten headache due to family probs again..so will leave it there for now
At least the sun is out...xxxxxx

    Hello everyone,

Just had a quick glance at the posts and hope that all are feeling well. I've just popped in to tell you I'm off to the Dermatologist tomorrow. I'm going to tackle him about the fact that he didn't tell me that I have Nodular Prurigo - my respiratory consultant found it in my notes. :x Also going to ask if he can give me tablets now we've been down the steroid ointment and emollients route. They're ok, the steroid ointment seems to shrink the nodules but doesn't stop them itching. I read about Ricky Tomlinson who has this and he was put on Azathioprine. As it is an immunosuppressant, it would also help with my RA. Whoops, this was only going to be a short message - I seemed to have waffled on rather. :?

Will listen out for Toady howling tonight. :D

Helooooooo! Is there anyone in there? Hope everyone is ok. I'll have a quick clean round and get the kettle on for anyone calling in later.

Barbara, you're right. My sister should be making the proper arrangements in good time. She is his carer and, as my other sister keeps telling me, she knows what's best for dad. I'm getting the same treatment my brother did now. They are posting things on facebook saying that all my dad's children should be making the effort to look after him. Sorry you've got a headache. Here's me waffling on about my family and I'm not the only one. Hope things are better for you today. Hope you have a good catch up with your cousin. When is he coming or is he here now?

Kath, hope you got what you wanted from your appointment today. I think your dermatologist should have told you. Oh, and waffle away. I know I do.

Good to see you back Marrianne. Don't worry about reading back. Sometimes there is way too much. Hope you are not in too much pain. Call in whenever you feel like it but don't feel you have to.

Joan, hope all was well at the dentist appointment and you enjoyed your meal. They don't always seem to know what a small meal means.

Went to T*sc* today. They didn't have the bread I like so had to get a different one. £3 for a loaf. Couldn't resist a tub of ice cream again.

    Thankyou Christine
Don't worry I will get there, you have enough on..I hope your sister start to make proper arrangement's..and they should involve you in any decisions..has for facebook why people put everything on there and start arguments is horrible..it should at least be private if you get the jist...I am rambling here
My cousin is coming in October but making arrangements were he can stay :) glad you got the icecream much better than bread..I have gone through gallons lately making cornets and wafers...for me  it is the light one..
no GC here so will get more ironing done...then we are off to a nearby mill that has a sale :)
Hope everyone's doing okish...Marrianne didnt say if she had a new washer or not..will see you later...xxxxxx

Hello Barbara, Mig, Toady, Elizabeth, Joan, Marrianne, Christine, have I missed anyone - hope not.

I'm a bit disappointed in my Dermatologist. He confirmed Nodular Prurigo AND Lichen Simplex - both very itchy, and the idea is to interrupt the 'itch/scratch' cycle. An immunosuppressant like Methotrexate would work admirably, but he doesn't want to prescribe it for me because of my cancer. When I pointed out that my Rheumatologist will have to put me on something like that because my RA is worsening, he just said "Well it's fine by me if she wants to do that." Isn't that passing the buck? :? Anyway, I see her on September 8th, so hoping she will put me back on Methotrexate injections. I see HIM again on October 22nd. So I'm still using the steroid ointment (Dermovate) and emollients. I'm also taking two Piriton at bedtime which makes me drowsy, so not as likely to scratch for as long as I used to!!

    Anyway, how are you all?

Barbara, I agree with you about Facebook. My son and his wife put on what they are having for dinner, I sometimes expect someone to put "Just off to the loo folks"

Elizabeth, I hope you get sorted with a fridge soon. Someone has dumped a fridge/freezer on our car park. We regularly have a scrap merchant come round picking up things that have been left out, that's why people do it. But scrap merchants won't pick a fridge/freezer up because they have to be specially dismantled because of the gas. :x

Must say bye for now, my PC is beginning to play up. :(

Hi everyone.. certainly was quiet yesterday, I was wondering if the 'closed' sign had got turned round by accident.. glad to see applerose had not leaned that bit too far out of the window.

Hello Kath, that sounds like a 'mixed' appointment.. and yes a bit of buck-passing as it strikes me, I suppose these things all work on a hierarchy/ who authorises what basis.. hope you can get onto the mtx if you think that is your best bet but it's a dilemma.. :? Hobson's choice a lot of the time isn't it. Hope you get your pc sorted, what's up with it.. I agree with you and others over FB, think it's a hideous idea myself.. mind you I'm private & to the other extreme so it was never going to be my cup of tea..

..talking of which.. kettle on and then must do something.. have some e**y items ending at the weekend that would be buyer collect, so tidying up sounds like a good idea.

Lovely to see marrianne, hope the infusions are doing their job.. not perfectly yet by the sounds :( yes autumn is creeping up, oh dear, nasty thought.

Barbara won't it be amazing to see your cousin :) hope you can sort his accom. out. I guess you have time. Buy something nice at the mill sale won't you & come & show us. :D

Black clouds coming over here & I was pondering whether to go for a little walk, looks a bit dicey so probably have to stay in & do tidying. :?

Glad you had a nice meal joan even if they gave you too much. I don't really like eating out these days as I can't open my jaw far so I take ages & finish behind everyone. Also you have to ask people if this & that is suitable for vegetarians and I sometimes think they will just say yes anyway. never mind I am as happy out with coffee & cake :) as I was never one for going out just to eat I would rather be doing something.

    See you all later, xx

Toady, I have two desk tops, one laptop, one iPad and an iPad mini. It was one of my desktops that was playing up. I've had issues with that one for a while and the other day I downloaded a free anti malware program and ran it. It found over 160 issues which I chose to quarantine. So was testing it out today. While on this forum, the posting window I was typing in kept scrolling up and down for some reason. :? It took ages to get the post finished. I don't think all is well with that PC. I'm on my laptop now which is behaving beautifully (or have I spoken too soon?). The desktop is still running Windows XP and the browser can no longer be updated - nothing can be updated as it is no longer supported, which is where I think the trouble lies.

YAWN! Hope that didn't bore you too much.

Barbara, yes I'll take ice cream over bread any day. I don't even eat a light one. Mine's full fat. My son told me that his wife decided he needed new clothes for their holiday. She bought them and packed them and he didn't see them till they were on holiday. Oooh, a pool. Maybe you could go and visit him sometime. Yes, he could have had a dip in your pond. Hope your computer isn't playing up now.

Kath, sounds to me as if the methx would benefit you all round. Fingers crossed you get it on the 8th. Some of my facebook friends let everyone know that they've cooked dinner or cut the grass or done the shopping that day. Isn't that just what we all do? I once asked a scrap man if he would take a fridge and he said no as they can't get rid of them. Hope you pc starts playing nice.

Toady, I really shouldn't lean out of the window as I am scared of heights and sometimes get an urge to jump. I started on facebook some years ago when my daughter was travelling. It was a way to keep in touch and to see her photos. I've only got family and a few friends but get to see all their friends' rubbish. If it wasn't for the fact I still use it to keep in contact with my daughter, especially photos of my GC and the video chat, I wouldn't touch it now. Black clouds and rain here too. It's so disappointing when you want to go out for a walk and it's raining.

Joan, how lovely to get all your doors and windows painted. I got 2 new upvc windows last year but all the rest is desperate for paint. I keep putting it off hoping to get a lottery win to buy the rest of the windows.

The 18 year old at work got good results in his A-levels so is off to Leeds in a month. His girlfriend is going to Edinburgh so we won't be seeing much of him. That's one teenage bedroom I won't have to worry about.

What is it with my socks? They won't stay on properly. They keep turning round so the heel is on top.
    Christine
