Toady sounds as if you were a bit lost without Eb*y.
Maybe someone else will put up the item you missed. I often wonder what's lurking behind things I haven't moved in a long time. Wonder if your mousey will come back to his nest this winter. Ha ha, I'll have to keep an eye open for more shenanigans and goings on.
Mig, glad all went well for the funeral. I think my neighbour did the mud challenge. Sounds like fun but very messy. Have a good trip.
Barbara, I've been asked those type of questions. If you are still waiting to see a doctor, the insurance doesn't want to know. Sounds as if you are having fun with your nutribullet.
Joan, hope you are well.
Kath, that does sound a problem not being able to bend your arm. Hope it doesn't hurt too much in your hand. I had half a chocolate orange last night. I've put the rest in the cupboard for next weekend, if I can wait that long. We had Amazing Grace played by bagpipes on cd as we went in to my mum's funeral. Mum was Scottish. I was wearing leggings when doing my weightlifting so they stretched. Thank goodness.
Only the rest of this week before the 18 year old goes to uni. Not that I'm counting down.Managed to get my brother to agree to visit dad a couple of times this week, as long as he has petrol in the car.

Just popping in to say I got my laptop
.. it was from a seller who had more than one of same item (putting them up one at a time) so I decided to bid on this one - you don't know if a) they won't put up another or more likely b) all the next ones will go cheaper  but I wanted to get on & get one, so I'm not sorry. Hope I'm still saying that when it arrives but he had 100% feedback. And I didn't go mad on my bid barbara.
Too much fruit eh
have something like a nice plain buttered roll or a couple of rich tea biscuits and a pot of tea with me. Go easy next time.
Mousey's home will be gone by winter as the bookcase is going as well so he would have to find alternative accom, plenty of choice in muddly corners mind youI was wondering if we had any Scots in. Will all be over soon now one way or the other.
Kath - oink.
Night all. xx0 -
Morning all
Christine all the insurance places seem to have the same question sheet suppose it make sense for them, it was high last time I went to Spain..was that last year... :? but now I have been offered surgery for my back... oh well...it says I could take the basic insurance and not add the medical things but I wouldn't be covered for anything to do with it.hope your brother does visit ...strange I had this with my brothers...girl think differently..good luck to your GC at uni ..

Hello Barbara, Toady, Christine and anyone else who might arrive.
Christine, I have quite big and generous veins in my right hand. After all the cannulas and stuff I've had pushed in them! They're quite generous too and let the blood flow easily. It only hurts a little as the needle first goes in, but after that - it's fine. Just a little scratch as they say.I know someone who had to have blood taken from her knuckles
OUCH!!
Barbara, had to read your post twice, at first I thought you were saying that your second hip would come from a freecycle site - now that would be something.
Toady, I'm glad you got a laptop. Hope it's ok when it arrives. I'm still oinking, I had half a bar of dark chocolate yesterday - one of the big ones. 8) Wonder what it will be today??
Sun's out, next door are still working on getting the house ready for new tenants. Watched 'Cilla' in bed last night - not bad. Will just grab a quick cuppa and maybe see what cake's available. I'm hungry again."Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea." Robert A Heinlein

Congratulations on your new laptop Toady. I moved to England when I was 9 so don't have a vote on the Scotland thing. It's getting quite annoying now. I'll be glad when it's over but don't think that will be on Thursday somehow.
Barbara, it's not my GC going to uni, it's one of my boss's sons. it's mean I can clean and tidy his room and then forget about it. No more tripping over clothes, books, bags and other things.Glad you had a good day with your niece.
Kath, that's good to know about your veins in your hand. I donate blood and have been told there is quite a bit of scarring on the inside of both elbows. I can still give blood from there but worry where they'll want it from if they can't get it from there. Knuckles? Ouch. No thanks. Recycled hips? Hmmm, interesting.
Joan glad your teeth are ok. I dread going to the dentist as I've had a lot of work done. Don't want any more. Fingers crossed the tablets work for your mouth.
Only bus story today is that a car pulled out very quickly from a side street in front of the bus. No idea why as there wasn't any other traffic about. Fortunately, the bus driver was on the ball and managed to slow the bus down quickly and smoothly.Christine0 -
-
 oops sorry Christine I should have known it wasn't your GC you was talking about..my brain really is mush..
Glad the bus managed to slow down and not jault you..I am scared of using them because of the fear of falling..
I love your pic of the orchid they really are beautiful flowers..I don't seem to have much luck with them ,think I have had 3 ..and lost them
Well the sun is shinning , how lovely to get up to it
Just had my smoothie, there are different recipes and one is for kidney and liver detox so I am trying that ..at least I am getting the vitamins...see you all later hope Toadys laptop comes soon..xxxxxx

Your orchid is better than mine- I lost my final flower this weekend but it is 18 months old. I've got another shoot starting up so if I keep on with the orchid feed it won't be long before it flowers.
I'm really tired again so have been sleeping a lot during the daytime. i think the steroid injection I had in July kept me ticking over while the kids were on their hols and has now worn off. It was the pharmacy at fault with the meds, they didn't collect all my prescription from the GP. Now OH has forgotten to pick them up so I'll be without them at least until tomorrrow.
Respite Wednesday. Son's school have a new variety mini bus so OH took him to the presentation yesterday so had an extra break. I'll have to sit with him again when he gets home so have saved the newspaper to read.
Toni you must do a lot of sitting next to your Daughter. It is hard to switch off isn't it?
Toady good luck with the laptop and hope it arrives safely. I was going to say as you missed out on the 1st one a better deal will come along. I often find that.
Going to post before I lose this

Hello everyone. No laptop yet (though it might be the signed-for item postie took away this morning  ) so we'll see on Fri. I'm glad I went for this one, as you say TK, because since then the dealer hasn't listed any more - so even if he does again soon, I might have been getting nervous I'd missed out. Once you've researched the spec of a particular model you don't really want to start over.
Having said that, I am typing on a laptop, my ultra-cheap one I bought a while back purely to play around with & modify.Over a while, and now finishing off the last couple of days, I've installed it's hard drive, upped the memory a bit, and downloaded & installed lubuntu o/s onto it, and got it onto the internet. Quite pleased with myself.
Though as my new one has windows 7, that's 3 o/s's I'll be nipping between, & the chance of keeping all that in my head is nil.
Glad you have had a break yesterday TK as well as respite today. Sleeping in the day, I don't like it, but have been doing it too lately, usually early evening. I try and stick to a bit of practical work per day and a bit of computery stuff, then stop, and maybe a bit of something later. Don't get a lot done  but I did write a letter yesterday so pleased about that.
Lovely orchid applerose, doesn't the cafe look nice. Are they scented? I don't know much about them. Your Scots-ness will have diluted a fair bit by now then, but 9 is old enough to have good memories of it. Have you been back much/ever? Didn't realise having blood taken could lead to scarring, after time, oh dear.
Glad you saw your niece barbara.Sunny on & off today & a bit 'close' at times. Went in the garden for a little while & the the greenfly are at my lettuces. Last I looked there were none. Blast them. I do not like the idea of your spider and especially that it follows a set route & timetable!!
Ugh! Amazed you tried to get it with your grabber, what was the plan after that, or don't I want to know. Yes I am looking forward to fiddling about with the new machine. I like finding out new things to do and customizing bits & bobs, finding handy little programs etc.
Joan I hope stopping the bp med works for your mouth if the new tabs don't help. For the soreness I'm sure you will have tried G*ng*gel but I just mention it as I find it good. Very nice having the all clear from the dentist. One less appointment.
I did come in at the start of Cilla last night too Kath but decided not to sit & get in to it, the actress looked a very good choice to me. I am off after this to order some choc from Li** O'Bri*** as I found a good offer, so when I get my order I will trade you dome dark choc, very nice - and anti-inflammatory (if high enough cocoa or something I seem to think).
Well a cup of tea is definitely calling me now so I will answer its summons - will leave plenty in the pot.Hope mig is getting on alright.
Love to all xx0 -
Morning all
Early today we were up at 7.00 to get GD off to school ..quite a run through the traffic for Grandad...but having the sun shinning makes its easier its the winter months I don't like getting up early..
Toady you are so clever with the technology ..how good to upgrade you comp like that...hopefully today your new one will come..the spider not a clue think I was putting it outside :? I had no chance of grabbing it..have you not noticed with the big ones at this time of the year they have a pattern..well more or less didn't see it last night..
think the larger one is the female
Elizabeth maybe I was to hasty getting rid of my orchids..I thought when the flower died the whole thing had.. :? I might just try another one they are lovely..hope you enjoy the respite care..and made the most of it..
today we are off somewhere not a clue yet..so will give it some thought..see you all later..hope you have the sun and have a good day..xxxxxLove

Hello everyone, hope all are feeling as well as can be. I'm so tired today. Yesterday OH and I spent about 2 hours shredding old bank statements etc. I had to get down on the floor to sort through them. OUCH
Today my hips and lower back are agony. :? Thanks for leaving some tea in the pot Barbara, I certainly need it.

Thanks barbara you are very kind & encouraging
don't want to blow my own trumpet too much tech-wise but one's accomplishments are few enough these days that occasionally it's nice to have a small success at something. Now I will make a muck of something and fall on my face
No laptop yet, worked out that the signed-for parcel is something else from an eb*y seller who didn't say it would need a sig  ) but laptop man has updated me with a tracking no. so that won't need signing. Have already been to the door once expecting the postman & it was someone to read the meter. Always happens. Had to clear a path to the meter through garage junk. Door will probably go again now when I forget & I'll jump.
Glad the school run was not too bad, don't know how you can get up at 7. :? Hope you get out somewhere nice today & it stays sunny. Quite warm here so must get out in the garden for a bit and not sit in here all day I suppose. Will soon be complaining when there's no sunshine. Have managed to wash & re-hang a dining room curtain so that's 1 fresher corner. Should have used steps really but I managed not to fall off the windowsill like Mrs Doyle from Father Ted(it is only a few inches off the floor though).
None of my spiders hang around long enough for me to observe their patterns of behaviour  hate to think of them planning a little evening stroll to stretch their legs.. all of them..
Think I will go and make a sandwich and have a coffee with it, feel free to join me anyone. x
Kath has just come in so plenty of coffee if barbara's tea has gone a little off the boil.Ow, no wonder your hips aren't too happy (any reason for doing your sorting at floor level or is that a silly question?! Just to spread out?) Hope a nice sit down will help & if you nod off, well I probably will too. :?
I see joan is online so hello too.0 -

Thanks everyone, feeling a bit better now I've had some rest. Used the floor as there's more room to sort things out, and yes we have had jams, and even stoppages for several minutes until we could get on with it. Bad news, there's still more - note to self - don't leave it so long next time.
I think I may have finished the coffee so will start the machine off again if can work out how to do it."Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea." Robert A Heinlein

its been a while since I've been in. many reasons including kids,my health and rubbish internet connection, so thought id pop in and say hi,
I've missed you all, hope everyone is ok, going to put the kettle on if thats ok xxxx0 -
Just popping in to say hello. Have been busy visiting dad in hospital and doing battle with my sisters. Hope everyone is doing ok ish.Christine0
-
That sounds trying :? hope not too fraught. You'll have been glad to get home. Hope you have a decent night.
Hello coco, nice to see you, & that you've made it in despite mixed circs. Kettle is always a good plan. I think I'll reboil & have a late tea too.Hope things steady up for you on all fronts.
Kath & joan, shredders seem to be a bit fussy how you treat them, mine says you're meant to shred so long then let it rest again.. you can get shredder oil, & even special oiled sheets you can pass through them.. mine has never had any.. not at around £10 a pack. And they do jam up at the drop of a hat.
My expected parcel never turned up as I mixed up the days.. I booked redelivery for Friday and never thought.. what a twit  :roll:0 -
Oh I missed you all last night..had the baby here...
Hello our Coco its lovely to hear from you...hope the family are doing okish...and your son especially is getting there..
Toady you blow your own trumpet ..you are doing things with comps that many wouldn't even try...not seen the spider last night not a clue were it is.. new laptop today hopefully...
Kath we have a shredder but forget to use to it... and like you we have to have a day shredding...hope you haven't much mote to do and glad you are feeling a bit more refreshed..
Poor Joan struggling with her mouth..I do hope they can solve what is causing it...I hate to have a sore mouth..
Christine I bet you are shattered working visiting and falling out with your sister..its not fair on you ..hope it can be sorted and your dad is soon home..
Today we are off out to the seaside fora n hour or two..St Annes it a lovely little place with seating all the way along the seafront..hope you all have the sun and enjoy see you later xxxxx

Hello Barbara, Toady, Christine, Joan, hello coco, nice to meet you.
Well my bum cheeks still hurt :? must have stretched the muscles too much
Ooooo, Barbara's off to the seaside - lovely. Hope you have an enjoyable day.
Oh dear Toady, mixed up parcel dates cause so much confusion. Especially when you have to arrange to be in for it.
Christine, hope your dad isn't too bad and that you win your battles for him. Sisters!! When mum died, dad was going to scatter her ashes in the garden. But no, my sister wants him to keep them until he dies so she can scatter them together. Hopefully he's still got some good years ahead until then, he's 84 this year and apart from arthritis in the knees, has pretty good health. So poor mum is sitting in her cardboard sleeve on the cupboard top. I worry about them getting knocked over.
I'll just sit quietly in the corner near the cupboard scowling at my 'ologists' while having some of this coffee cake I've bought in and some tea that coco kindly made."Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea." Robert A Heinlein

Kath, glad you are feeling a bit better and getting things sorted. Sore bum cheeks? Is that from sitting on the floor. My mum's ashes sit on top of a small table. Dad has bought little angel statues to sit around her. He want to be scattered with her when the time comes. Dad's cat often walks around there so we worry she'll knock things on the floor.
Joan, dad is up and down. He hardly talked or moved the night before last but tonight was much more like himself. Thanks for asking. My shredder cloggs up after just a few pages. I usually end up ripping the paper. It all goes in the compost bin.
Barbara, did you get your new laptop today. Yes, I do feel quite tired but have got tomorrow off so hopefully, I will sleep a bit longer. I've heard St Ann's is a lovely place. Hope you had a good day there.
Toady, how annoying your parcel not turning up. Hope you don't need to wait too long for it. You put me to shame with your tech knowledge.
Hi Coco. Hope things have improved for you now.
Dad was a lot more like himself today and I got an apology from my sister. Wasn't a pleasant visit though as there was one man who I think was mentally disabled because he kept shouting out and laughing hysterically. it was upsetting dad. Another man was sat in his chair. His gown slipped off his shoulder but he didn't seem able to put it back. He couldn't lift his cup of tea to drink. Every now and again, he would turn and talk to someone imaginary in his bed. Must be so difficult getting so old.Christine0 -
Coffee cake
you are talking my language Kath.
Thanks very much. Hope you have not got too much specific cause for the scowling at ologists. Parcel turned up (wish sellers would say if they want a sig, I never buy from those that do - not that staying in for them is a problem, it's going out that's the rarity  - but the getting myself up in case they are early, and answering the door in some vaguely fit to be seen state  )
Applerose that was a rather grim hosp visithave had similar and it is no picnic, no wonder we try & turn a blind eye to the nasty side of life, well I do as far as possible. Glad you had a maybe sort-of apology anyway and that your Dad had a better day. It's me with the new laptop, not here yet but should be tomorrow. All my tech fiddling is trial & error and plenty of error. Spent time today trying to find the right software to get a wireless adapter working & was looking for it to work with linux, when it only needed to be for xp and I already have the right drivers for that  told you I would mix my operating systems up.
Hope Barbara had a nice day and it didn't rainSounds lovely. Spider unaccounted for.. ooer.. hope it has not been making itself at home while you are out.
Not sure if WD would be ok for shredders joan, the oil in bottles is cheaper than the expensive fancy sheets, more like £3 - £3.50, I expect they think the sheets are good for being no mess. I would worry I'd get it wrong & make matters worse - use too much or get it somewhere I shouldn't.
Hope everyone has a good night, looks a bit foggy out there to me. We ought to have some shortbread fingers with our tea to mark the No vote, I'll get some in. 'night, toady xx0 -
Morning everyone
Oooh shortbread fingers! I think I might just have to have one with my coffee...
now to dunk or not to dunk....??
KathT has a sore rear why is that I have to ask being out of touch (AGAIN  )
When my Dad died we scattered his ashes and then when my Mum went we scattered hers in the same place
When I go they'd better make me into a diamond
Barbara I do hope you had a lovely day at the seaside and were warm enough to sit on the frontand that all GDs are well and accounted for.
Hello Joan I hope You Sue and the dogs are well and also have a good weekend
Coco!!! Lovely to see youOf course you know you can always put the kettle on
Oh Christine It's awful for everyone when some older people get so confused , but extra hard having to be in hospital with them. Mind you I still remember having my first wonky ye op at around 2 and there was a 'No-ey No-ey baby' there. Another wee child who shrieked No-ey whenever any nurse came near!
Good to hear you Dad was more yourself though and you got an apology from your sister.
Hello Toady My postie knocked my door early for a parcel for my neighbour, but really it was to check how Lucy is. Nice chap
I hope your new laptop arrives very soon and is perfect.
Has anyone heard from Elizabeth??
Love to you all
