Just a late hello & will call in for longer soon. :) Glad to see everyone is doing fairly well & hope the drop in temp is suiting those who are waiting for it.

Went for bloods Friday and a couple of chatty elderly ladies hoved over to me in the cafe and starting telling me to enjoy myself & spend all my money now while I was 'young' (maybe their eyesight was not marvellous  ). As they had already commented on my arthritic neck  I'm not sure what gave them the impression I was capable of either. They were like little ghosts of christmas still to come, in old ladies' clothing.

Going to have some tea & toast, if anyone wants some, lemon&lime marmalade if wanted - I see there are lots of biccies & cake, so will top off with something from the tin, thanks. love to all. xx

Barbara, they are both evil. :x But sero positive does tend to be more aggressive and there are other related conditions that negs don't get (like vasculitis) but positives do. But on the other hand, there are some drugs (like Rituximab) that can't be used with negs but work well with positives. So it's swings and roundabouts really. :(

Had quite a shock in the night. There I was, fast asleep and all snuggled down, when OH suddenly (in his sleep) reached over (we have separate adjustable beds) and swiped my duvet. I shouted "what are you doing?" and swiped it back, but got no reply except a long drawn out snore. I clung onto my duvet for the rest of the night and tackled him in the morning, but he had no idea of what he'd done. :o I shall be quite cross if that happens again. :|

Barbara, glad you mentioned the epson salts. Nearly forgot to use them tonight. Doesn't sound very nice having a metallic taste. Hope you can find out what's causing it. isn't it funny how babies' first word is often no. Yes I often get blocked ears. Have to put oil in them regularly. I use extra virgin olive oil. I always have plenty in the cupboard and it's just the same as you get in tiny bottles from B**ts. I went to 6th form but didn't do well at all. I wasn't ready to go in to the big wide world though. Now I think it's a good idea to get as much education as possible at school but, as you say, if they don't want to do it, they won't work at it. What a lucky window cleaner to get tea and toast. No point cleaning windows in the rain. I think they don't want to miss out on the money. Guess I can't blame them.

Kath, I've been told not to use anything in my ears but oil. They won't even do anything at the doctors for it. letting Toni have a dust around sounds like a good idea. Might get her to do mine too. I always think yuk about liver but always enjoy it when I eat it. Don't know why. Sorry but I had to laugh about your OH swiping the duvet. I used to wrap my side round me and lie on it.

What a lovely story about the elderly ladies Toady. Some of them are so sweet.

Sorry you had a wasted trip Joan but I guess these things happen. I always think at least it's a trip out of the house.

I was invited to an arthritis clinic at our health centre. I went last year and all they did was take a note of my general health, weight and blood pressure. The nurse said she didn't know anything about arthritis so I wasn't going to go this year. I did though. This time she took bloods for a full blood count and checked my water too. She's also told me to get on to my rheumie to see if I'm supposed to see him again and if not, to see my GP as things have got a little worse over the last months. So at least an improvement on last year's appointment.

Kath thanks for explaining that..like I said very complex..what a shock your OH taking your duvet..at the min we have separate rooms..if we had room we would have got two single ..but you cant swing a cat round, so when I had this hip done hubby moved rooms and we both get some sleep
Christine..you made me laugh with the extra virgin olive oil only the best.. my eldest GD suffers from depression ..its a long story..her mum does..I feel so useless keep telling her how much I love her and she dose talk to me, but when she is at her mums its all text and its not the same any how the school has offer to find her an apprenticeship ..so fingers crossed..not sure what she wants to do she is such a good artist I would hate her not to be able to use it..sorry I am rambling here..
the arthritis clinic is a brilliant idea ..at least you will be monitored regular...like others do with different complaints..hope you can get an appointment with your rhuemy...
The rain is just easing here hope it ends up like yesterday afternoon lovely and sunny
Wounder if Toady has got the shelves up..I need a standing ovaition got lots of ironing done yesterday a035.gif

The Gymnastics world championships has started so I'm just watching and watching online and today red button starts at 12. You will not see much of me for the next few days.

Kath do you go swimming. Just my OH has terrible hearing due to rushing sounds and he says it started after swimming last year. Its worse when he is lying down (which is often  )

Got my Son off school with a cough. Lu was off last week but only for the day.Hope he doesn't moan at me watching the gym or I'll send him back to school!

L birthday on Thursday and she has had all er presents already, plus an advance on Christmas. We bought her the desktop but can't get it to download the windows disk I bought. Might have to call my neighbour to help as its his job fixing computers. Still need to go and buy a cake and card.

We have duvet fights too.L came and slept in my bed last night as a big spider was lurking in her room. It came in my sons room later (here I start the night)but he's not fazed at all. He probably chased it.

Charlie coming for the weekend. I love to spend time with her.So lots to look forward too....

Think it was me who asked for rain Toni  . Sun is shining today thought it is chilly. Not yet resorted to putting the heating on but I'm sure it won't be long.

    Take care

Hello Elizabeth, Joan, Toady, Barbara, Christine, anyone who joins in. Hope you are all coping with the wet, damp, rainy weather and oh that wind! I mean the one outside, not my own internal problems.

Elizabeth, I don't go swimming. Never learned. At age 8 I had private tuition and the coach put a rubber ring round my waist, plus a canvas belt attached to ropes which he kept hold of and then gave me a float - I sank. He pulled me out and sent me home in disgrace.

Barbara, I managed to keep my duvet last night. Our room is small too and the beds and other furniture do fill it. OH has to take a careful sidestep around the room when he needs the bathroom in the night. With the occasional muffled "OUCH" as he stubs his toe yet again. OK, maybe not so muffled.

Christine, I can remember as a child having a lot of earache and mum using warm olive oil in my lugholes. I'm beginning to think it is either wax or catarrh, as today it isn't as bad. Odd thing is, when I got down on the floor to dust the skirting boards (yes, I'm odd like that) it cleared completely. Then when I got up it came back. :?

I'm going to embarrass myself even more now by telling you what I had to eat yesterday - it's quite disgusting.
Breakfast: toast, marmite, coffee Dinner: half a meat pie, stuffing balls, chips, spaghetti Tea: Ham salad wrap, spring roll, piece of pork pie, peanuts, blueberries, two mini wagon wheels Supper: Smoked ham and cheese with tomato sandwich, chocolate mousse

    It's a wonder I don't look like the side of a house.

Hello all, sun is shining :) hope it keeps up. Have indeed been putting up shelves, well got so far, they are unit thingys, so freestanding, no doing anything to the walls etc. Will try & muster a pic when done to prove it. Will be so nice to put some things off the floor. :D Giving myself a blister from the screwdriver (feeble weed!!), have got a drill with screwdriver bits but wouldn't quite trust myself with it on white laminated board.

Tired after mtx so won't do a lot more. Cup of tea is called for.

Your meals sound ok to me Kath.. Not like it says '3 packets of biscuits' unless that's between meals.. portion size is the key I suppose  not that I know what proper mealtimes should be like nowadays (getting up & staying up late), everything is all 'out'. Sounds like you are feeling a little better after the infusions? even if they did kick like a mule after. Yikes. :o

Hope you don't pick up Son's cough TK. Big spider, ugh, hope it's left the premises. Did you get anywhere with the windows install.. expect you have checked the pc's boot order but worth asking.. if not hope neighbour can get it up & running. I hear windows 10 is in the offing, oh lordy. Glad you have got Charlie coming for the weekend. :)

Barbara any further thoughts on new machine for you, can't be fun wrestling with your space bar. I am duly standing for your ovation, or if you prefer have an ovaltine, if you are in need of a lie-down & sleep after all the ironing. I don't mind it too much but don't do a lot, mostly things I don't like creased (like bedding); seem to wear a lot of the same clothes round & round again so I never end up with basketfuls of stuff. You can pass a small pile my way. :) Hope your GD makes the right choice for her, I couldn't wait to leave school either but whether that was the right choice, who can tell 'til later.

Yes it was sweet of the ladies to come & give me their advice applerose.. but do wish people wouldn't comment on my neck, it does make you feel like quasimodo even if they mean well. I always think people won't notice, clearly not so. Glad you got on ok at your clinic, I don't think we have such a thing, though quite a few of the ordinary nurses seem to have an autoimmune themselves. Your Dad's carers sound a little lackadaisical, I was very lucky with mum's and had ones that would go the extra mile. Others not so good though. They do tend to come & go, so maybe you'll get some different ones.

Joan, how annoying your physio was cancelled. I would be cross not so much about the wasted trip as the having to come back again another time, hope you can get a convenient time for the next one.

Thinking of frog at the start of maintenance week. :) Poor daisycat and the rain, I expect she would like a nice little covered walkway into the garden - so would I. :D One day's heavy rain and my plants are looking battered, everything looks tatty, and the back door starts sticking.

Hope bubbles, mig and anyone reading are as well as can be, see you all anon, toady xx.

    Evening all
What a storm we have had...
Elizabeth I was watching the gymnastics this afternoon ...the men vaulting was amazing..nice that your daughter is coming to see you.. :) these young ones do like there presents early..I had to laugh that L has had some of her Christmas as well...
Mig what a shame after you have enjoyed your break..hope the cold isn't has bad as the man flu your hubby had...feet up now and some me time.. :)
Toady I hate ironing..like you I tend to try and wear the same stuff for a few days...sheets never get ironed..only the very creased tops get done... my late mum would turn in her grave.. I will have to give some thought to this comp..not a clue were to start I need the speed and the memory...and reliability..not much to ask  sorry you have felt tired after the meds..is this every time you have it..I hear so many saying how tied it makes them  has for the neck I know what you mean ,people say to me you should stand up straight no wounder your back is bad...that is when I think I am standing up straight :o
Kath poor OH getting round the beds but at least you are together.. :) now you have made me hungry...sounds like you enjoyed it... :D hope the infusions are still helping...
Joan hope that mouth is better...and you and Sue have a good evening
I have the gas fire on first time since May I think...the baby has just gone home...and no other GC here so very quiet...
Hope you all have a good evening see you tomorrow...xxxx

Barbara, it must be terrible to have depression. It's good your GD is able to talk to you. I hope they find her an apprenticeship that suits her. Well done on getting all that ironing done. g010.gif

Elizabeth, spiders don't bother me but I know people who run a mile. Enjoy the gymnastics and your time with Charlie. Happy birthday to L.

Kath I am similar to you with the swimming. I never really learned. I always feel the need to put my hand down to support myself and down I go. Does seem strange that your ears are ok when you're bending or lying down. I sometimes just eat bits of this and bits of that because that's what I fancy. Doesn't always have to be a proper meal with the proper side dishes.

Hope you and Sue are having a good week so far Joan.

Toady, I've got an electric screwdriver but don't always trust myself with it as it has skated across what I'm screwing in to a couple of times. Your back door sounds like my back gate. It's the size of a door and I can't get it open in winter so have to take the screws out of the catch so I can put the bin out then screw them back in when I bring the bin in so I can lock the gate.

Mig glad you had such a good weekend but not that you've got a cold. Hope it doesn't last long.

I saw a Thai Chi class advertised in the next town so I went at teatime. Quite enjoyed it. It's not on for the next couple of weeks but I'm looking forward to going back. I did try doing it a while ago using a dvd but got lost. Much easier following a real person who can keep everyone in the right place.

Morning (just), to one and all. Quite where the last few days went, I am not sure...........
I will have a read back, hope everyone is as good as can be.

Finally we have cool weather, hoo rah, no longer on meltdown, after months of mellow moments. In fact, we have the fire on in the living room, oh, the irony. It is much easier to get warm, than to cool down and the cats are absorbing 90% of the heat anyway.

Niece and her partner took us all out for lunch on Sunday, as a surprise, which was very nice. They both had hangovers from partying the night before, sorry, no sympathy, matron is hard nosed on self inflicted boozing. My Niece could not eat, but we all tucked in.

Otherwise keeping busy, visiting Mum, pottering at home, out for lunch today, (we are never in and there are not enough hours in the day since I was pensioned off and put out to pasture).

Better potter a while, bones are shouting,as they do. Take lots of care everyone, xxxx Bubbles.

    Hello all,

Rain most of the day. :( Hope everyone is feeling not too bad.

Barbara, I'd love to be able to do Thai Chi. I remember watching 'Calendar Girls' where they did their exercises on a hillside. I'd fall over all the time.

Yes, Linda Bellingham. She reminds me of my late friend Sandra who lost her battle with breast cancer around April this year. She made the same decision so she could have one last, good, Christmas with her family. Don't think I'd be that brave. :(

Bubbles, hope your pottering didn't make your bones worse. I'm totally in agreement with you on the subject of self inflicted suffering of any kind. :|

Christine, normally I wouldn't have bothered about my diet that much, but since cancer I've been a bit more aware of healthy eating and tend to prefer a more vegetarian/fish diet. But it is nice to sink your teeth into some juicy meat now and then. :D

mig, glad you had a good weekend with your grandchildren.

Toady, that's where the sun is now days. You're hogging it all to yourself. enjoy it while it lasts I say.

This morning I was sat chewing gum (Sjogren's dry mouth) for some reason I stuck my finger in my left ear (I'm odd like that) and heard and felt the most awful grinding noise in there. Tried it with the other side - nothing. Now I'm wondering if there's some inflammation in the bones in that ear that is blocking 'proper' sound from getting through. Just a thought. :? It would explain the noise problems I've been having, and it is starting to affect my balance a bit. Thank goodness for my trusty walking stick.

computer neighbour kindly sorted out the desktops, my son had just left something unplugged on both builds. So now both are up and running.

Today we bought birthday cake and cards and we had to get a badge with 11 on otherwise Lucy would strop. Barbara she had combined christmas birthday as a desktop is so expensive. I'll just get little gifts for Christmas day.

Well done on the ironing. You have to be in the mood. I just tackle the school uniform and other clothing can wait.

sorry can't stop as Daniel has just arrived home and I've also got to help Lu with some homework :o

I don't know where the time goes either Bubbles. Glad you are keeping so busy and enjoying the cooler weather.

Barbara, no need to feel embarrassed. I've posted things then thought maybe I shouldn't but we are all here to help one another keep our chins up. Yes, I think the Thai Chi will do me good although my arms and knees were sore today but I guess even a gentle exercise needs to be gotten used to. Oh interior designing. What are you designing?

Kath, I don't think I could be that brave either. I'd have to fight all the way. Wonder if you're right about the grinding noise. Are you seeing anyone about it? Especially if it's affecting your balance.

Glad your desktops are up and running again Elizabeth. I think it's a good idea to combine birthdays and Xmas presents. I think the young ones seem to understand better now that it is combined and they can't have it twice. You always seem so busy. Hope you are managing to get some rest too.

Had an argument with some window cleaners on the way to work. it was bin and recycling day. As I came up to one house, the bin and about 5 grass bags were neatly lined up against the garden wall. There was a white van parked on double yellow lines and all the way across the pavement right up against the bins. I noticed the driver was in the van so I held my hands out to let him know I wanted to get past. He just waved at me to go on to the road to get past. I shouted, "No, I'm not going on the road. "(Although it is a 30mph road, a lot of traffic travels at 70mph). There were 4 men and one of them came over and moved the bins so I could get past and said, "It wasn't us who put the bins here." I told him the bins weren't the problem, it was the van which was parked illegally. The driver laughed and shouted that they were allowed to park like that because they were working.

Evening, well, morning to you, Christine, Rose, Toady, Kath, Barbara and all.

Ignorance is bliss with parking Rose, don't get me started on disabled parking. I am amazed how people park up, put their badge out and take a brisk walk into the shops, er, hello. By the time I get in, they are done and on their way out, equally as fast. Huh.

Glad the computers are mended. I would be lost without mine, we have to have one each, well OH has several, kind of a hobby, tinkering with them.

Thai Chi, is gentle, but I would prefer thalassotherapy, salt water pools with gets of water into all those knots that we get. Bliss. I will have to go to the spa that Bubbles went to, lol. We have a small pool near us, but the heating has gone to pot and it is super cold, I don't mind tepid, but clap cold would give me thermal shock.

Sorry to hear about your possible jaw noise. I am going to have to see my GP again, I am so thirsty all the time, eyes are dried out, mouth dry as a board, despite drinking galooooons of liquids in a day. Not sure what is going on, will have to get checked out, bloods and the like.

I was going to iron earlier, but, time has passed, so I won't bother :D

Will watch some tennis from Shanghai. Everyone take lots of care. XX Bubbles

Christine thankyou...yes even small amounts of exercise can use different muscles...so it is good..have a nice soak after..this parking on pavement is a real prob we have reported to the police who said its a council issue so you go round in circles..its awful when you have to walk in the rd and put your life at risk :x I have the same on our rd...and wehave one lady with a walker and one with an electric chair..and they canbe stranded so I have sent a long letter to the council not sure if they will reply..
bubbles good for you the ironing can wait mine did for nearly a year... hope your mum was ok yesterday...and she has settled in...
dark here then sunny not a clue what it will do...I am contemplating decorating the one wall over the fire and in the recess just to brighten things up...not me but OH ... he doesn't know yet..
Elizabeth ..does she know she is getting the laptop she will be over the moon.. :D hope you all enjoy it sorry is it today ,my mind has just gone blank

Hello all, just a quick visit today, Thursday is usually pretty busy at ours. Will have a cuppa and some biscuits. I'm in a chocolate mood because I've just decided what chocolates to order for Christmas. Our 'pop man' gives us leaflets every year and we pay £1 weekly through the year to pay for it.

Bubbles, do you have Sjogren's Syndrome? That's what I get and it's not nice. I'm sipping water all through the night, and often chew sugar free gum to keep my mouth a bit moist. I use Beconase nasal spray and Hypromellose preservative eye drops. Supposed to use Glandosane oral spray, but it doesn't work very well. I will probably mention ear/jaw problem when I go to my next appointment with the rheumy nurse on 27th.

Well that was the longest 'short' visit I've ever seen.

Hi Kath, not sure if I have Sjogren's, the optician said to go see GP, I can drink half a liter of iced water and feel as if I have had not a drop, I could just keep going. Being a retired nurse I am thinking all sorts of things, self diagnosis is not ideal. Am off for my MOT next week at the surgery, so bloods and the like will be done then. I use eye gel, which does not a lot. I will see the nurse practitioner as well, we like to gossip about nursey things amidst the test results.

We have had every type of weather today, rain, sunshine, gales......leaves everywhere.

Talking of chocolate, I might just have to have some maltesers, to settle me for the night :D Take care all, XX Bubbles

    Good evening everyone.

Barbara I agree entirely. When I was a kid I used to munch on dog biscuits. :o I wonder what that meant? I liked the black ones best.

Bubbles, fingers crossed that your MOT will find some answers for you. Hope so.

My copy of the consultant's letter to my GP finally arrived. Typed up on the 7th but the appointment was on 23rd September. At the beginning it says:
seronegative erosive nodular rheumatoid arthritis now positive rheumatoid arthritis, CCP more than 340, rheumatoid factor 288.9 rheumatoid arthritis Vasculitis Sjogren's syndrome

No mention of Folic Acid in there though, and rheumy nurse said she'd done all that. I don't know if those numbers are normal or a bit on the high side. :?
